    I was give an ARC of this book for an honest review and purchased the published addition.

    We first met Malcolm in Scoundrel’s Vengeance, he was the fun, calm and insightful brother. Suddenly he finds himself forced into marriage based upon a lie. Knowing he must marry to help restore his clan, a wealthy French woman should be ideal, he’s just not sure what game she’s playing.

    Desperate to leave France and her father behind Isabella elaborates upon a “kiss” she stole from Malcolm years ago to buy her freedom and head to Scotland. Of course not only did she lie about what she and Malcolm did together but the real reason why she wants to make the trip and her intentions when she arrives.

    When Isabella’s plans are interrupted by Pirates, the MacLauchlin’s come to her rescue. Thrown together in a dangerous quest for treasure Malcolm and Isabella come to find they have more in common then they ever realized. Will they be able to put their past behind them and find true love? You’ll have to read the book.

    I loved this book, in the present time where life is so full of drama and stress this was a light and fun read. When they finally discover what they have in common I cried, more than once. This is now in my top 5 of Sky’s books.

    I read the first book in the series and this is a stand alone. But, with series, you have cross over character's and I would urge you to read book 1. It was a 5 star review for me.

    This was somewhat confusing in the beginning. The going back from present to past and a lot of character's. Finally started to make sense and I enjoyed it.

    Mild lovemaking within marriage, heat level 2 out of 5. By this time I did feel a connection to them. They each had secrets that slowly unraveled and when all was exposed, made sense. I can't wait for the next brother's story as he is such a troubled soul.

    Our H has a reputation for bedding any willing lass. The h is obviously afraid she will not be enough. Oh, how I liked they had a conversation on this. I always want the h to confront the H to see if he will remain true to his vows or will she become another mark on his bedpost. Enjoyed their dialogue on this!

    There are some suspenseful scenes, interesting secondary character's, romance builds very slowly, HEA and a tad of spice. There is sadness and my heart ached for everyone involved.(ljb)

    Another great story with the second of the MacLauchlin brothers and this time it is Malcolm. He and his brothers had formed a pact to marry rich ladies, to help rebuild their clan.

    When Malcolm receives a missive that a lady is on her way to marry him, he has a hard time believing since he remembers his meeting with Isabella de la Croix, in not the most romantic way! But he needs a rich wife so he awaits her arrival. When he see's her ship sailing past and pirates in pursuit, he and his brothers go after her.

    But when he finally rescues her, things are not as they seem! A strong attraction is there and Malcolm shows he is a man of honor and is there for her..

    Adventure, treasure, secrets, mystery and sparks! Yes, an exciting story!

    The last time Malcolm MacLauchlin saw Isabella De la Croix, the woman who was such a thorn in his side in France, she removed her veil and kissed him. Now she has come to Scotland, apparently seeking him so they can be married - but what she is really seeking is hidden treasure.

    Sky Purington always impresses me with just how much plot, emotion, and character development she can fit into a story that is shorter than standard for the genre. Flashbacks are always a risky thing to use as well. But they work so well here. I will admit to wishing that the treasure hunt itself had received more focus - it would have been nice if it had been a little more complicated.
