The Seventh Sergeant (Three Rivers Ranch Romance™ Book 6) Kindle Edition
A veteran cowboy, his care coordinator, and the chance to heal their hearts together.
Sergeant Reese Sanders, a disabled veteran, has painstakingly rebuilt his life after a tragic injury overseas. Now working at Courage Reins, the equine therapy center at Three Rivers Ranch, he's finally found solace and purpose. But when down-on-her-luck Carly Watters becomes his care coordinator, the walls he's built around his heart begin to crumble.
Determined to keep his distance, Reese stubbornly resists Carly's help—until an unexpected fall leaves him vulnerable and in need once more.
Reluctantly uprooted from the city, Carly despises the small town life and the cowboy culture that surrounds her. But as she moves to Three Rivers to support Reese, she can't deny the growing connection between them. As their professional relationship blurs into something more profound, Reese and Carly must confront their pasts and embrace the transformative power of love, faith, and forgiveness.
Will Reese allow Carly into his guarded heart so they can build a happily-ever-after together?
In this captivating Christian cowboy romance, these two lost souls must let go of their pride and learn to trust not only each other but also the divine plan that has brought them together.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021Carly has finally gotten the chance and promotion she's needed since getting her degree and she is going to Three Rivers Ranch to meet her first, and only, client at the moment, Sergeant Reese Sanders. As a veteran care coordinator she needs to meet him and find out if Lex's notes are up to date. When she meets him she's surprised by the pull that comes over her to get to know him better! Reese has just met his new care coordinator and can't believe how he feels about her, what's going on with him? Only after they finish their meeting, she returns to Amarillo to finish her paperwork and finds three new files on her desk! Then her phone rings and its Pete from Three Rivers and needs to know if she can give him Reese's family's phone numbers as he has been hurt and they are taking him to the hospital! She gets permission from her boss to give him the information and is also told to go back to Three Rivers and check on him! What happens next? Is Reese going to be ok? Will Carly and Reese allow what feels right blossom? Read this great story by Liz Isaacson and Elana Johnson to find out. You wont want to put it down till the last word!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2017I enjoy reading Liz Isaacson's books for a few reasons. They are usually quick, easy reads that are just plain fun for when you don't want anything too heavy. They are well-written and they include characters from past books that I've enjoyed. This one is all of those things.
I liked Carly. I liked the way she was willing to give up her whole life in Austin and move to Three Rivers when he gets hurt and doesn't have anyone to be with him all the time. It was just a bit crazy because she had barely met him, and he was her job assignment versus her even knowing him and he didn't treat her the best. He was pretty gruff and even a little unkind. But she stuck it out in a tiny little town.
Reese is kind of a fun character. He's a gruff cowboy who has already been injured in the war. He wants to be normal and not have to depend on anyone else to do anything for him. But then he gets injured on the ranch and needs someone to watch out for him. He really doesn't want it to be Carly, who he has barely met. But there's really no one else. I really liked the way he fought to keep her around when he realized that she was going to have to move.
This is a cute romance. It's a quick read that I enjoyed reading during some down time.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2022While I have enjoyed all of the books in this series so far, this one was special. It deals with issues that can be difficult for someone who's recovery while complete hasn't and won't ever restore him to what he was before. In this story it focuses more on what attraction and love are really about, not the superficial looks(everyone is going to age, maybe get sick become weaker) but the inside, the emotions and true acceptance we all really crave.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2017I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!
"The Seventh Sergeant" shows the broken side of a veteran, the physical pain instead of just the mental agony that stays behind after the war. Reese Sanders was Pete's first patient at Courage Reins and has finally began to find his way in the war with his disabilities, that is until an accident might leave him paralyzed permanently. Can Carly Watters help Reese fight his way out of the deep hole of depression? Can there be a love story here?
I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it's like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2023I enjoyed this story with all it's complications and set backs for Carly and the wounded veteran she was assigned to help. I have thoroughly enjoyed so many of Liz Isaacson's books and this one is a winner.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2024This was a very sweet story between a veteran and his care worker.
At first Reese thought Carly would not want a relationship with a wounded veteran, but the love they had for each other made all the pieces seem to fit.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2020I have enjoyed the subject/theme of this book more than some others that Liz has written - I am a damaged veteran - not, so much physically, as much more physiologically and I can understand the character’s feelings in this book better. Especially Reese’s feelings, having felt them myself almost everyday for the past 5 decades.
I was very happy for Reese that he got his happily-ever-after ending; that he was working out his/their problems and in solving those problems finally coming to terms and slowly healing himself. Liz is a wonderful writer, able to get you to a point with each of her story’s themes - where you better understand what each of her characters are working through to become whole again with their trusting in God to see them through.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2017I have enjoyed the Three Rivers Ranch series and I'm glad Reese got his story. I understood his rude behavior, as he's been described by other reviewers, and generally liked him. Carly was wishy-washy to me. She seemed to make really stupid decisions. It was good to get caught up on the couples from previous books, but this story just wasn't as strong as the previous stories. It's a clean, Christian romance that I enjoyed, but not as much as other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story of a wounded soldier and caring social worker.
This book portrayed the characters' fears and insecurities so clearly. I would recommend it to anyone facing insecurity in their life or anyone going through struggles. Anything dealing with struggles needs God's perspective and and to submit God's plan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Being the seventh son is bound to give you a complex
Reece starts off on the back foot. Damaged, with youngest child syndrome, an over protective mother crippled by anxiety, & broken by war. There is a happy ending, but, oh boy, the convolution.
- Ymo3Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 5, 2016
5.0 out of 5 stars good clean romance.
Loved this book just as I have loved the rest of the series. Good, clean romance set on a ranch that deals with some harder issues of life altering injuries.
The only down side would be that there are some hints as to why carly dislikes cowboys (previous boyfriend) but I didn't feel there was a good enough reason for her hatred/unease. Left me feeling like there was another story I hadn't been told.
You do get to catch up on some of the other characters from the previous books which I always like when it is part of a series - makes the ranch more believable to me. Although part of a series each book does stand alone and can be read in any order although reading in order will give you more continuity of all of he characters and the life of the ranch as a whole.
I received an advanced copy of this book for free for an honest review but am buying the post edited version as I enjoyed it so much.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four Stars
Enjoyable romance. Although part of a series can be read on it's own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broken but not Out of the running
Reece is a bit dented by the rigours of war and sees his injuries as flaws and perceives that no one will want such a damaged man. Carly though physically whole feels that she is less than adequate due to having "The perfect sisters" Their beginnings are fraught with tension and their growing relationship a strategic problem especially due to the appropriateness of it all. Just goes to prove you can't help who you fall for and what's at stake when you do. Whilst Reece pushes her away she tries to hold on but it is becoming increasingly difficult.
great characters that you cant help but root for. I enjoyed the cowboy banter. Can this whole woman fall for less than a whole man, well like Carly I could because there is more to a man than the sum of his body parts.
