Shattered Souls: A Military Romance Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 77 ratings

Formally published under Alison Mello

LexiI left home a proud, strong woman, determined and eager to serve my country. But I came back a completely different person.
I’m wounded, scarred, and nothing more than an empty shell. I’ve lost the ability to open up to those closest to me. Why? Because no one understands the hell I’ve been through.

KeeganMy past led me to serve, honor, and protect the city of Boston, but the black stripe across my badge has added to the many scars darkening my soul. I’ve shielded my heart from the pain of my past, until Lexi walks into my life. She’s beautiful, passionate and she knows exactly what I’ve been going through.

They say time heals all wounds, but is that really possible for two shattered souls?

Not only will you need tissues but your heart will ache a bit with this story of loss for both Lexi and Keegan. Each are dealing with PTSD and learning to cope with loss of family or friends will take awhile to begin to heal again. But with each others strengths they will begin to heal their shattered souls.

Lexi only had 3 weeks left of her tour in the sand box when her convoy is hit by a RPG which takes the lives of several of her team and her best friend. After recovering stateside she goes to Boston to stay with her best friend Chloe. But PTSD has her drinking too much until Keegan who is Chloe's new patrol partner decides to help her out with the help of a therapist she will begin to heal and fall in love with Keegan.

Keegan grew up with a junkie mother who let unspeakable things happen to her son for the drugs and food they need. But when his partner is killed the toll is too much leading him to seek help. With he meets Lexi he sees a shattered person but also knows that together they can help each other. When he meets Jamal whose mother is a junkie the memories comes full circle and reaches out to show him that there's a new life for him with the help of Lexi who will mentor him.

Absolutely loved this book but remember to bring tissues you won't be disappointed or regret buying this book.

Lexi is injured on a tour of duty in the Army. Her best friend and another soldier are killed in the same explosion. She wakes up in a hospital healing, but after being told of there deaths has extreme guilt. She feels responsible because she was there leader. She is suffering extreme PTSD and is drinking too much.

Lexie comes home and moves in with her best friend from home , Chloe who is a cop. Her partner Keegan comes with Chloe to pick Lexie up at the airport and they have an immediate connection. Between that and what Chloe tells Keegan he knows that they are both broken souls. His previous partner was killed in an armed robbery and he was shot and he too feels guilt and suffers from PTSD.

This is an amazing story of two fighters who lean on each other to get better and survive. I loved this story and can't wait to read her next story!

Shattered Souls is an emotional story that centers around PTSD. This is a different variation on a military story. It features a female army medic. I love military romance, and I really enjoyed reading Shattered Souls.

Lexi comes home with scars and nightmares. She is trying to move on from the past and all she has seen to build a future for herself. Lexi is a strong and capable woman, who is feeling broken and damaged. She meets Keegan, her best friend's partner. Keegan is a police officer. Keegan has a rough / dark past and emotional scars that he is trying to work through. Both Lexi and Keegan are damaged, shattered & broken in some way. Can they help each other to heal? Can Lexi and Keegan find a future & happily ever after together?

Shattered Souls is one of those stories that will touch your soul (pardon the pun or not) or move you. It has love, guilt, despair, pain, romance and friendship. Lexi & Keegan must hike up their bootstraps and keep marching toward the future they deserve. I adored the connection and chemistry between Lexi & Keegan. The author allowed me to believe in these characters and feel as if they could be someone you know. I think that Lexi and Keegan are sweet and endearing. I volunteer for this arc copy & also purchased a copy. This is my unbiased review.

Great book, covers different aspects of PTSD. This book is one of those reads that sometimes leaves you feeling as if your emotions are on a rollercoaster. I does deal with some weighty issues, but I felt they were handled with care. PTSD can occur after many different scenarios and not only from witnessing death. How it is handled is also an individual process,. Sometimes being with someone else who has gone through it is helpful as you often feel more at ease talking to someone you know and who has been there. The point is if you or someone you know is suffering with PTSD find someone to talk through what is going on mentally. Seek.help from someone. This book gives numbers for Veterns to call but there are many community organizations to help with coping. Do not let it consume you so that you cause injury to yourself or others.

This book is the first book I've read from this author and I loved it. I loved how the main character was female. Lexi is a strong woman who came home from war with a broken soul and faces the uphill battle to heal from her demons that haunt her. She meets Keegan through her best friend and he is also broken himself from a past that still haunts him. Can the two help each other mend their shattered souls. So much feelings while reading this... I laughed, cried, and swooned some. Please give this book a chance. It's a great one.

    I really enjoyed this book.
It's unusual to have a story about a female vet, back from deployment, and out of her depth in civvie street, but that's what this is about and it's very well written.
Lexi comes home and stays with her good friend, Chloe, who is a police officer. Lexi meets Keegan through Chloe, as he's her partner. Keegan has his own issues to overcome.
Can two mentally scarred people help each other to live again? You'll just have to read it to see!

So much depth to these characters with not just the obvious shattered souls!
The chemistry between Lexi and Keegan was immense and I just had to keep reading to know what their story was. I loved reading about Julian's story too.
There was so much emotion in this book, which was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
