It seems that whenever I have gone a long period between Saul Tanpepper's books, I sort of forget just how incredible a story teller he really is... Then, when I finally find time to pick up a new book or short story like this one, and I instantly find myself sucked into the story and fully invested in the characters from the very first paragraph, I remember all over again why I have sworn to read any and all things that he writes. Shelter In Place is a quick and intense read. Yeah, since I am an avid Bunker 12 fan, I had no doubt what was stumbling about in the storm and what truly horrifying danger was just outside that door... yet I was on the edge of my seat while I read it, and as nervous as if I were in the classroom with her. I highly recommend that you take a break from the real world as we know it, and read this little gem of a story that is set right at the moment the world fell apart.
