About the author

I am an independent author, living in the county of Hampshire, UK. I have been an avid book reader all my life, but only started writing fiction recently.
Less than a year later, here I am just publishing my first set of e-books on Amazon and other online retailers. What a crazy journey! More on my website: www.ajmilton.com
What’s on the way? I am still working on Sophie’s adventures in the Eternal Flame series, and also some short stories about Sophie’s college friends to add a new perspective and some extra content. I am also planning some more steamy short stories and a Sci-Fi series.
I’m still working full time, so writing is a passion, not a full-time career. When I’m not writing or planning literary activities, I’m cycling, walking, gardening, listening to rock music or have my head buried in my Kindle or a paperback.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2017I received a free copy of this book via Book Sprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Sophie starts a relationship with Alex an older man who is also married to a second cousin. As the relationship blossoms she has to come to terms with the fact that her family is against the relationship with Alex. This is a really nice story about love blossoming between two individuals regardless of the age difference. I applaud Sophie and Alex for being able to embrace their love of each other regardless of the pitfalls that they come up against.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2017Certainly I will explain myself about the title, but first I need to get to the good stuff. This is a well-written book "describing" an older man/younger woman romance and love story. The story as it is told is entirely believable. The erotic scenes while not breathtaking are nice and for the entirety of the book, mostly vanilla. The erotica is nice...sort of everyday...nice. There are a lot of them but like watching a "porno" they tended to be repetitive, nice, but the same.
As I am sure this author will learn and evolve, he or she (I am thinking it is really a "he" that wrote this from some "tells" in the story.) will discover that the serious reader of romance needs more dialogue before, during and after the sexual encounter, more heat, aggression and passion from the male, I do not care how old he is. Lovemaking is some all consuming business to the romance reader. We as readers need to be swept away in the heat, actions and even the force of this love. The woman needs this alpha male strength that literally takes the breath from her body and then returns it to her because he does not wish for her to die but to live in his passion and love. There is agony and angst in the act of handing oneself over truly body and soul. It is worthy of great poetry and of life changing art.
Every interaction in this book was initiated by the "Little Madam" and she took control of every sexual encounter. Is this a fantasy of the author? If it is, then this entire book is really an exercise in "self- indulgence". Now, whether this is a good or bad thing, I do not know. Many literary works are thus. Many readers will find comfort in the softer and more gentle male. In which case then, at least give him a story. There was no arc to speak of in this story. It was written as a dual POV but it was more of a diary than action exploding before our eyes. More than one, (actually many chapters), were simply summed up like so "Then we went straight to bed and spent most of the evening making out , making love , and just talking." Awwwww! Don't cheat the reader like that. Write in the dialogue necessary that describes what your characters did, don't get lazy and just give me a summation about it.
If the author edited themselves to sound politically correct or think this is what women would like to read then its artifice is not working. It is billed in the ad copy as a "steamy romance". To have steam, you need heat. The heat was missing. I never felt that delicious slow burn of attraction that puts a reader's heart in their throat. Some authors do this with mere descriptions of a first look or the scent of the person who is the subject of their ardor.
The ending of the book was a disappointment. After everything was said and done they go their separate ways. How could this man leave his beloved alone for a minute? Doesn't he know life is short?... His life maybe shorter than hers. And then this nonsense about her off on sexual exploration by herself without him? Again, It is probably just me and my ideas of what speaks to the heart in love longing for its true other. Perhaps there are folks out there that think this is more acceptable; the older man being passive while the younger woman talks the lead and goes off alone.
I am not an author myself, yet. I am often so torn about leaving a review with criticism in it. However, this author needs to decide what is his or her purpose is in writing erotica to the woman's market. If it is to relieve himself of an artistic burden of their his desires and wishes then let it stand and damn anyone who criticizes it. But if it is their desire to entertain and delight the women out there, I tell you there is a market for the hot, sizzling passion of erotica, so let it sizzle, burn and consume. Your male does not even need to act like an alpha male but give him the desires and internal dialogue of one. Passion should make you crazy!!!
I honor the effort of a writer that puts their work out their for the world to see and eventually judge. It is easy to talk about a book. It is very hard to write and publish a book. So I congratulate the author on this achievement. It is reasonable priced and if you like it slow and gentle ...some parts are very hot...then go for it give it a one click and decide for yourself if I am off my rocker and this work is great.
I received a free ARC. You all can tell by my voluntary review that these are indeed my words and I was not influenced by anyone to write this review or anything in its content.
I rated this a 3.5 stars. I always round up!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2018This book moves fast. It jumps into a situation that was already in the making from some time ago, and away it went. Having said that though, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything based on where the story started. Sophie's character was well presented and easy to relate to. She stood up for what she wanted, and grabbed onto her adult self with both hands. What I found most admirable is that she didn't apologize for her choices. The people in her life would either meet her on her terms, or not. That takes some guts. I felt like I really wanted to know Alex better. I could ascertain his kindness, respectfulness, confidence, intelligence, and his sense of adventure. But not much else was divulged, in my opinion, despite how several segments were written from his point of view. By the time the book ended, I knew some about Sopie's family, her friends, her life outside of Alex. I couldn't say the same about Alex. There is a second book in this series, perhaps there all will be clearer. This book skillfully navigates some heavy social and familial issues, and I look forward to reading the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2018While on vacation in Egypt, college student Sophie falls in love with her mother's cousin husband. At first Alex, who is separated from his wife, is not sure about dating such a young woman nearly 30 years his junior. But he can't resist her advantages, and they quickly go from mild dating to hot and explicit sex. The book presents the love and sex between them and explores how her friends and family react to her dating such an older man. The sex is explicit and they explore a few positions, with just mild spanking. This novel apparently started as a short story extended into a novel with a soon to be issued sequel. I've not read a lot of erotic romance but this seems to be a good one. I'm no fan of reading about painful sexual adventures and what's presented here is fine.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2017I voluntarily received an arc for a fair and honest review. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was sweet and written well. The characters were told with love and caring. As I read it I hoped for a happy ending in that they could overcome their age differences. The characters were strong in their love and belief in each other. It was a really inspiring. The author told a nice love story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice hot read
I enjoyed the author's free short story Three Hot Nights, so decided to see what happened next. This is a nice easy summer read. The characters feel like real people and it made a pleasant change from the current vogue in steamy romances. Nothing wrong with alpha billionaires but variety is nice! The intimate scenes are quite hot and it's good value for the price And well written for a first book.
