For the Strong and Fragile: Where the Mongrels Are: Book 3 (Where They Are) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

I’m a catastrophe waiting to happen—And I always will be.

But there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes a devastating natural disaster is exactly what we need to cleanse the slate and move forward.

This new world is full of dangers, and I’m now one of them. The fear of beasts settles in the back of my mind as talk of war floats around the island. I will lurk in the depths, waiting for my chance to sink that treacherous ship of denial and deceit.

Spiran is my home, and the Mongrels are my people. Low tides leave us precious time to warn the other natives of the battles they will face against the unstable Shade Queen. She won’t change my mind, despite her desperate attempt.

Rivers of emotion calm within me as my power grows each day. This leaves the vast shorelines bare as the water recedes, readying for the impending storm.

Our dreams of happiness are being threatened, and I refuse to stand by idle and pampered while enemies creep around our border. No matter how unlikely our new allies may seem, we all have one thing in common. Everyone is ready for a fresh start.

The Mongrels know me as a reckless wild card. Now, they’ll learn loyalty makes me a fierce and cunning protector.

My name is Ada Stormbrave, Queen of the Mongrels.

But they’ll also call me their Water Goddess.

MF Adele resides on the outskirts of the Rocket City in Alabama. She lives in her overactive imagination, often fueled by caffeine and no sleep. When she isn’t writing, MF is outdoors with her family or obsessing over spicy margaritas and cigars.

MF writes what she connects with. Her heroines are often emotionally challenged while remaining strong-willed. They’re snarky, chaotic, and refuse to be damsels in distress. She has a flair for misdirection, keeping her readers guessing until the end. Within the complex worlds she builds, her stories feature epic battles, murders, and graying the lines of morality.

If you’re looking for MF Adele, you can find her being consistently inconsistent in her group:

MF Adele’s Hellacious Hybrids. She likes to keep people on their toes… So you never know when she’ll pop in with news.

I am really enjoying this series. I love Ada's character and how she is taking on her roles and her relationships. I like Madi and the friendship she shares with Ada. This does answer some questions from the other books but it also leaves you with so many more.

This final book in Ada's story was everything I hoped for and more! I have loved Ada since the very first book. Even through all of these crazy changes in her life, she has been so open and logical about everything. So many new things-- from a new world to unique powers to relationships aplenty, Ava has really just gone with the flow, experiencing things as they come and keeping a level head. She has so much strength and intelligence as a fmc and was such a phenomenal character to start this series with! I loved seeing the way her mind worked and how she approached each new situation or problem that came her way. She really shined in this final book, pushing her powers to unprecedented limits and really thinking outside the box.

Ada's relationship with Madigan was one of my favorite things about this book. Even with their rocky last moments together years before, they came together beautifully with their friendship. It was like riding a bike. I thought it was great for Ada to have another person there who would get all of her jokes and references, someone who she shared cherished memories with and who just understood everything she was going through. Ada always had the guys to rely on, but they would never get her like someone who she grew up with. Ada and Madigan were the perfect duo in this book.

Ada's chapter may be closing but another one is soon to open. I am beyond excited to see what else becomes of this series and the journey that each of the other queens/goddesses goes through. I'm curious as to whose story will be next. With Madigan playing a larger part in this book, will we follow her next or will the storyline be handed off to Greer since the epilogue was in her POV? Either way, I am eager to read more about this world and how the queen's plan to save their people.

The final book in the Where the Mongrels Are series, For the Strong and Fragile, is finally here! Ada continues to be the strong, roll with the flow type character that I only wish I could be like. This book is jam packed with background information, relationship building, and pure magic. I've loved every moment of reading this series. There are still some open-ended questions that make me believe we may get more of this fantasy world in the future and I'm definitely down for more!

    A beautiful trio.

This book really highlights Ada stepping into her role as goddess and healing some of her human relationships. Madigan has arrived on the scene and she sparks all kinds of things. Once thing is certain- war is coming. Ada and Mad must figure out how to work together if they hope to unite the island against Nesta. Oh, the case of the missing undergarments is solved finally!

I love Ada and all of her strength. I love to have seen here growth into her role. There is so much development showcased in this third book of the series. It has some great laughs, tears and steam. There are some lingering questions for me and I how there is more to come from this world.

For the Strong and Fragile is the third and final book in the Where The Mongrels Are Series. This has been such an awesome series. Ada is a fabulous FMC and I absolutely love her personality. I also loved the writing, pace, flow, characters, storyline, storytelling, character development, relationship development, and world building. This is definitely a series that I would highly recommend.

This is an ending of a series that is amazing with writing. Still some unfinished questions.
