Although a bit disjointed at times, all three books in this series have been enormously fun to read. The author brought to this reader a different experience in a fascinating genre and nicely tied together what the personal and professional experience would have been, on both the small and global scales, if the Cold War had gone hot in the ‘80s. The novel, for me, take on Soviet naval strategy was especially enjoyable. Highly recommend all three books.

Enjoyed the Cold War suspense. No reason given for the war being fought, the personal stories were thrown in. Implausible to say the least.

The tedious British Naval acronyms made the story line somewhat difficult for an American English reader to follow thus diminishing the overall enjoyment of the story.

Once again this was an exciting read about two submarines tasked with a mission of immense challenge. John Wingate has written another spellbinding that will hold you to the edge of your seat.

There was a glossary at the end of this book, so I could almost understand the intricacies of the tale. For that it rates much better.
Would have been nice if some of the main characters had survived.

Although unfolding slowly, this final installment about a conflict in the seas between NATO and Soviet Union navies takes us under the waves in a heroic and costly mission to discourage a nuclear threat. Nothing is without costs and heroes often fall. Tense and rewarding reading of a Total Navy role, with recurring appearances of characters. Best read in the series.

Wow, the 3rd book in the series is possibly the best one. It's about the exploits of 2 Royal Navy Submerines trying to bring the war to an end. It is one of those books that you cannot put down, you want to know what is going to happen. The author really know his Navy and how it works which makes these storys even better.
You almost don't want the series to finish. Highley recommended.
