Surrendering to Her General (The Rise of the Sadecs Book 1) Kindle Edition
Her life will benefit the entire planet, and her sacrifice will be rewarded in numerous ways. In return, all she has to do is surrender, giving up all freedom and choice for five long years. No safewords, no escape, no changing her mind – once she signs the paperwork, she belongs to whomever buys her.
Tal never intended to keep Kenzi for himself, but once he tastes her sweet submission, he finds that he can't let her be auctioned off to just any crew member on his ship. He'll share her with others, whether she likes it or not, but she will belong only to him. His woman. His pet. And if he has his way, she won't be returning to Earth at the end of five years.
Publisher's Note: This is a dark, steamy sci-fi romance with elements of power exchange and is intended for mature readers.

About the author

Sadie Marks has been in love with science-fiction and horror since she was a little girl and when given the opportunity to mix power-exchange romance with sadistic aliens there was no way she was going to turn it down. She is currently working on the sequel to her first novel: Surrendering to Her General, and there’s a good chance she’ll be getting into some darker territory as she goes.
Her wide and varied experiences lend a note of realism to the D/s relationships she portrays in her books.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020Out of this world romance between Kenzi who signs up to be an alien Sadec submissive for five years and General Tal. Kenzi has always been in control and is martial arts trained. But she has always wanted to explore her submissive side. The relationship is rocky from the start as she keeps fighting her dominant side and need to control. It is hot, steamy and electric! It is well-written with a highly developed plot with sufficient history to flesh out the background and help the reader understand the hows and whys of the story. Both Kenzi and the reader are taken out of their comfort zone time and time again. I’m hooked and ready for the next book! Well done!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2019This book is amazing! I struggle with BDSM books. I also don't like humans becoming slaves for aliens. But this book I enjoyed. The slavery is consensual which helped me get passed these hurdles. Now on to the review.. This book deserves 4.5 stars. It's a dark and fast paced love story between a human who volunteered to become a slave and an alien general. I hope to see more of this author and more books that continue along with this world!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2019Kenzi signed up for five years as a pain receiver. She ached for something she could never bring herself to ask for from a human man. But with Tal, the Sadec general, she was required to give up total control. To be dominated and be submissive, is what she craved. But she discovered some hidden pains she had not resolved. It was freeing, in the realization that she loved Tal. But did he feel the same? Read the book! You can relate to some of the conflicts with both sides. This is definitely an adult only romance book! If you are squeamish, then don't buy this book! But I enjoyed reading it and recommend it to the like minded.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2020I love BDSM books. Even dark BDSM books. I enjoyed most of this story. I really liked Kenzi... I even liked Tal (her General) to a point. However, no matter how advanced their tech is or the rules she signed up for, there were parts that I just couldn't happily accept. My main issue is ..... POSSIBLE SPOILERS..... he didn't stick around. He said have a clinician present but the clinician doesn't know her. He watched for physical issues but not mental or emotional which can actually do a lot more lasting damage. This really came into play during part 2 of the punishment. When some of these reviews say "he shared her" well... yeah, he did... but when I read that, I was thinking his buddy is there and so he says "sure, have a go at her"... maybe it's an encounter here or there... or even stringing her up in a public location like the first part of the punishment.... She was gone for 2 weeks. Kept in the quarters of whichever person had her at the time... He never checked on her and she never got a break for days on end. No processing time, no recovery time, nada... days here and then on to the next one for days there. Y'all, this was her first time doing any of this. That's the whole basis of this story how she'd never done anything remotely kinky before and she just gets thrown into this for two weeks solid with no one actually checking on her at any point??? And the reprecussions from that time was just swept under the rug. He never asked her anything or talked to her about it. Honestly, I ended up skimming most of the punishment entirely. Once I figured out what was going on, I just couldn't read it. I kept watching for someone to actually check on her but nothing. We did get into his head once between the punishment parts, and he does admit that he realized she was completely out of her depth but then just decided that he couldn't "coddle her" so he just kept moving forward. Note, verifying that your slave who is unable to stop anything or walk away is safe and unharmed mentally or physically is NOT coddling her. .... SPOILERS END
NOTE: I'm not saying he shouldn't have made the decisions he did on the punishment... just that there REALLY needed to be some checking in... some sign that he realized that just because HE handles it fine doesn't mean that she can survive it unscathed.
I will say I am interested in reading book 2. The description is enough to make me think it will be different as her dominant seems not to have a choice in the situation and since it's supposed to have an HEA, would possibly means he has to work to get back to her and make sure she's okay. Maybe when he is with her he will be more aware of her well-being. I guess we'll see. Hopefully others will be better able to decide if this book is for them or not after reading this review.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2024What a great new series! It has so many new ways of looking at things. Things that make you wonder....
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2019I'm not one to enjoy dark books or sadism or sharing that is less than enthusiasticly consensual, but the author does a great job with all three, making this a surprisingly enjoyable read. I read it in one sitting. There were some hard to read moments, but overall, I rate it four stars. I'll be in the look out for a sequel. I know she intends to go darker, but I really hope she doesnt, so I can enjoy the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022Another review said this book was crazy harsh. You must have edited it since then. There are spankings and sharing, but never extended or unsupervised. Well written. Like the “drifting”
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2021This was a simply fantastic book! Very hot on the BDSM with lots of spankings. It is a darker romance, but still definitely an amazing read recommend! I recommend reading the triggers for this book. Guaranteed HEA!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sadecs
I enjoy the occasional dark romance but I'm often left feeling bemused that any FC could actually love a MC who treats her like dirt, with this book there was enough light to make it an enjoyable read. Sadie managed to produce a dark MC with enough humour and caring to balance the scales for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Humans that meet the criteria are able to join the Sadec as slaves
Kenzi had always known she was somewhat different from other humans, she had always felt the appeal in D\s lifestyle but had not previously done anything about it.
However the opportunity to undergo a complete body restructure by literally growing a new one and then having her actual whole consciousness put into this specifically designed outer as she had requested. She had to undergo a plethora of tests to ensure that she would be an ideal candidate as their expectation s and desires were very specific and not a lifestyle to be entered into !ightly.
She knew that the final test soul determine if she would be selected by the Sadec, it was a very important ability to be able to respond digitally during and after punishment, she was not in any way shy of retiring in nature she did however find submission and discipline very arousing.
So as she is faced by an actual alien male Tal and finds herself on the receiving end of his wrath after failing to do as requested this will be the determining factor regarding the next five years of her life.
Will she become a slave to one of more Sadec as they travel through the galaxy and possibly onto new worlds for the term of her contract, five years.
After today her future will be ascertained unless she fails to pass the most important test of her life, then who would have expected that after a fairly short time with her General "Tal" she would actually become more than his slave and more than simply his to command.
Perhaps this little human may in fact be the first human to see what only other Sadec's had seen before and now that the joining had taken place and they were mated it was something that had never happened before between these two races and it was hopeful that over the years Tal and Kenzie would change Sadec opinions.....
