I do absolutely everything for him, from organising his appointments to picking up condoms for him every Friday afternoon.
Why do I put up with it?
Because, despite it all, I am obsessed with him and have been since I was fifteen. He treats me like dirt, yet I still come back for more.
To him, I’m untouchable. And not only to him, but every other man on the planet. The fact he’s my brother’s best friend has seen to that. They’re both possessive jerks.
And I put up with it…for a while.
Once I put my foot down, the dynamic changes. And it is at that moment I find out how he really feels.
In fact, I find out so much more than I bargain for. Not only is Devon host to some serious demons, but he also holds a very big, dark secret. A secret that could destroy our relationship before it gets a chance to begin.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2017Anyone who knows me knows I love a man that's a complete and utter jerk. I love a man that gets my blood boiling and that makes me physically want to hurt him. Devon Jackson is that man. Usually I start off hating them but they always win me over. Devon....not so much. Ok that's a lie. He didn't win me over at all. Even the good qualities didn't make up for the complete jerkiness that is Devon. He is the man I love to hate.
I loved Andi. She sees Devon for who he is, he treats her like crap, confuses her constantly but she can't walk away from him. Of course working for him makes everything harder and I'm not going to lie, there were times I wanted to shake some sense into her.
The ending of this book was unexpected. I'm still not sure how I feel about it if I'm honest but I loved how the story played out (although the ending seemed a little rushed) and although I did hate Devon from start to finish, a part of me did secretly love his character and I would kill for more from him.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2017I had this book in my bookshelf for a while but never had the time to read it. Once I started reading it I just couldn’t put it down, I loved that the book was looooong, I hate to read books that the story it’s too short.
The story is about Andi Bellingham, she is the PA of the CEO of Devon Jackson her crush since she was six years old, he is also her brothers best friend. She hates her job but has a good salary and can’t quit because she helps pays her fathers mortgage.
Devon Is a really piece of work, he treats her like the dirt in his shoes, He is super protective of her, to the point that he interrupts a date that she has by showing in the restaurant while she is waiting for her dinner.
Her roommate Ritchie is her confidant they both call Devon Mr Condom because every Friday he asks her to by a box of xl condoms, lol.
The book gets better page by page, she finds her self two prospective that fall in love with her, like I said before couldn’t put the book down.
The end for me was what I wasn’t expecting but couldn’t choose a better one my self, not what I was hoping for but still didn’t expect it, my brain didn’t want to go to sleep that night just thinking about the end wow.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2017Different. On one hand I like that didn't end typically. On the other the ending was sad for all parties involved. And I hate saying it but Andi bugged me the whole book. I couldn't connect to her. I wanted to. She was a good character but I didn't feel it. Came off a little too perfect. And in the end I'm not sure anyone was happy.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2020I enjoyed the first half of this book immensely I love sexual tension and the chemistry between the two main characters was really well written and you definitely felt it.
I have a thing for alpha mean jerks so I was really into Devon. However I felt like his reasoning for doing one main thing made absolutely no sense.
The middle of the book was extremely boring I figured out what was going to happen pretty early on so I wasn’t Very surprised when it was revealed but I did think the reveal was anti-climactic and not that great.
The ending felt weird in a way because half of me feels like I understand why the author decided to go in that direction but the other half is like I wish you would’ve went this way.
Overall 3.5 stars
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2017I'm still trying to process the ending of this book! My heart was ripped out , put back together and then torn to shreds. Andi was an amazing woman and definitely didn't deserve any of the crap that Devon pushed on her. It went from longing to incredibly hot and sexy! I was completely engrossed in this entire book! So many different events set in motion and I was totally stunned. I can't say too much without it being a spoiler. But that ending had my stomach in knots . Bravo to this stunning author. I love her work and every book has been so unique and completely amazing!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2018Jesus, this a train wreck of a book, it is dark and impossible to put down. I have to say Jaimie never writes the same characters other then they are messed up. It seems they are surrounded by people with mental issues or drug problems. This book had ten major issues addressed; drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, rape, mental issues, and night terrors, army deployment, losing body parts and losing life in war and killing. I either love or the books are too messed up for me in the end. I always finish them even if I regret it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022I am literally shocked by the ending of this book. What a twist! Jaimie always takes you on a roller coaster ride and everything isn’t as it seems and this book was no different. Absolutely heartbreaking honestly, but I don’t regret it one bit.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022Talk about amazing. The back and forth between the main characters can make your head spin. Has a twist at the end that you don’t see coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars SO GOOD!!
Awesome Book!
I was hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading till I got to the end. It was a very emotional read, with lots of plot twists. That you won't see coming. By the end all I could say was OMG! repeatedly LOL......
I loved every minute Jaimie Roberts
Andi has crushed on her brother's best friend for as long as she can remember. Though she doesn't know why. He's a horrible boss and total control freak. Never has a nice word to say to her. Worst of all he's a womaniser...
After realising he's going to loose Andi with his behaviour. Devon confesses his feelings. He convinces her, everything he's done was to keep his distance from her. That he didn't want to hurt his best friend and he's wanted her for so long....
Can Devon change his ways? Will Andi's brother except their relationship?
Don't want to give too much away. This a book you MUST READ and experience yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good story
This book was so emotional. my head was all over the place. I found it to be a very in-depth story that showed a story of heartbreak, love, possessiveness of a relationship and the love of families and the devastation of loosing loved ones and the betrayal of those close to you.
It was a good book I was shocked at the end I didn't think that the final scene would have been apart of it as it was shocking. But nonetheless a good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A different romance contains spoilers
A different take on a tried and tested formula. This was an interesting story about a woman working for the man she's secretly in love with, who so happens to be her brothers best friend. Devon treats her like shpoo and is a bit of a manwhore, but the moment she tries to move on Devon and her brother Charlie constantly block her from dating.
Devon though is hiding a secret of his own he's secretly in love with her and hurts her to keep her away. Their romance blossom's but Devon does so many idiotic things, possessiveness and control all leading up to total devastation.
Its well written with a few errors here and there but the twist I liked, although I didn't like the direction of Devon character, that wasn't right considering everything he'd been through.
There could have been a second book ... Where she finds out she's pregnant and perhaps give Devon a second chance.
I don't think she loved him like she claimed, the end was rushed.

5.0 out of 5 stars THAT ending...
OMG! The ending has my heart all twisted up.
This book was so good. It seems like a 'normal romance book, until you remind yourself that its a Jaimie Roberts book, so you always have to expect the unexpected . I, for one, was NOT expecting THAT ending!
Well done to Jaimie Roberts. You have again blown my mind with your writing.
There was always the undercurrent of darkness, more like a lingering shadow. I knew it was there, but when everything was going great, and the sun was shining on Andi and Devon, I could forget the shadows were there. However, when the dark clouds started hovering, I was holding my breath, just waiting to see how things would turn out.
Never in my wildest dreams could I have foreseen how twisted Jaimie Roberts would be.
Superb!

1.0 out of 5 stars A definite miss.
I rarely leave negative reviews but this story was an incredible disappointment.
The hero, Devon, has serious emotional issues and treats Andi, the heroine, so terribly that he is completely unlikable for the first half of the book. The reader is left perplexed why Andi maintains a steadfast devotion to this man. Her claims of an eternal love for Devon are also undermined by her expressions of interest in two secondary male characters and her constant internal monologue that Devon has too many emotional issues for her. Andi also falls into the infamous Too Stupid To Live category of heroines. [I'm home alone but I'll let Devon's violent drug addicted brother into the apartment because he looks thirsty. Devon can't tell me what to do! I'll have a screaming meltdown because my brother is being deployed. Everything in my brother's life should revolve around me. He should stop smothering me!].
When the two main characters finally agree to be in a relationship, there isn't any emotional growth during their romance. Devon treats Andi poorly, she runs away, he pursues, and she promptly forgives him. Repeat until the reader feels fatigued. Finally, there is the "big" reveal of Devon's unforgivable dark secret and Andi immediately terminates the relationship. A man with a childhood marked by abuse and abandonment chose not tell his surrogate family that his violent drug addicted brother did something terrible to them. Shocker. Rather than do the hard work of writing an emotional journey of forgiveness for the two characters, the author chose to shock the reader with a cheap "dramatic" twist. The book's epilogue left me feeling tricked and cheated and that I had completely wasted my time by becoming even marginally emotionally invested in Devon and Andi's story. A definite miss for me. I recommend Vicious by LJ Shen if you are looking for a dark romance with a happy ending.
