The Dating Proposal: A Standalone Dating Makeover/Office Romance (Caught Up In Love Book 2) Kindle Edition
The seven years I invested in my ex left me with nothing but scorch marks from the way he peeled out and left me at the altar. I’m not looking to put my heart into a relationship any time soon. But getting back out there? That sounds like a helluva good idea to get my groove back.
Then I bump into Chris….Clever and funny, with a sexy surfer’s bod and a brilliant nerd brain, he has just the right screwdriver to fix my hard drive. (Yes, the one for my computer.) I wouldn’t mind dating him. The trouble is he just proposed to me—to be the new dating guru on his TV show—and now he’s my new business partner.
What happens when you meet the right person at the wrong time?

- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2019The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is a contemporary standalone romance told in dual POV between Chris and McKenna. Quirky, geeky, funny, self-deprecating and with an awesome and hilarious animal cast, this story was everything I've come to expect from a Lauren Blakely romance. Humor and heat, snark and sexy times, and a whole lotta fun.
McKenna is a fashion blogger with a solid business plan and an engaged audience. She is looking to expand her follower base and make her content more relatable to males as well as females. Having just made it through the one-year anniversary of being dumped the day before her wedding she comes up with a dating plan and how to blog about it. When her best friends cat commits murder on her hard drive, however, she is forced to pause her plans and seek help. Lo and behold she finds Chris - the fixer of all things tech and a damn good looker too. Shame she doesn't want to get serious about dating, yet.
Chris has his own show on Webflix but his boss wants him to find a way to gain more female viewers and make his content more relatable to the female audience. When he meets McKenna it's like the stars aligned and sent her just for him. Shame he has a rule to never get involved with someone he works with because McKenna was made for him. From her classic games addiction to her awesome appreciation of all things food.
Funny and relatable with a slow burn and some great sexy time - I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2019What a sweet, fun, and totally relatable to me read! The Dating Proposal by Lauren Blakely is something everyone should read, especially if you're getting back out in the dating game, recently had your heart broken, or just looking for a fun, sweet romance. McKenna, after being left at the alter a year ago, is ready to put herself back out there and try dating again, but she's not looking for something serious, she's just looking for something fun, she doesn't want to fall in love, and she doesn't want to put her heart on the line again. So she comes up with a full-proof plan, and she gets her friends involved, everything is bullet-proof until she meets Chris, and agrees to work with him on his TV Show and things get complicated between the two of them.I adored the banter between Chris and McKenna, and their chemistry was out of this world, but what I really enjoyed was how the author truly seemed to capture the awkwardness and mishaps of putting yourself out there to date again after not dating for so long. When the last time someone dated there wasn't online dating, and now that's the thing. How when someone seems so great, and then you go out with them and it's a total disaster, I adored this part of the book and truly felt for McKenna having dealt with some of the same things she went through, and it really helped me connect with her character on a totally different level. I laughed at her experiences and then when things went great for her, it gave hope to me and probably other readers out there that in this crazy new world we all can find our HEA.This book was quirky, cute, and brilliant. I adored all of the characters and their hilarious traits. I couldn't put it down, and I definitely didn't want it to end, to be honest, I felt it ended too quickly. Chris's character was amazing, and the secondary characters brought just enough to the story without overshadowing it. If you're looking for a sweet romance that will have you cringing, laughing, and falling in love, I highly suggest picking up The Dating Proposal today!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2019Several years ago, I was binge-reading the Caught Up in Us series by then new-to-me author, Lauren Blakely. I remember each of those books—I loved them all. They were all so witty and sexy and romantic and well titled – Trophy Husband was my favorite title of the series. Fast forward a few years, and Blakely has reimagined that classic with spectacular results in The Dating Proposal. It’s fresh, it’s fun and it’s full of the feel good, flirty, feisty romance this reader has come to love from her.
I don’t want to give a single word of this story away. I want anyone reading this review to go in as blind as I did, especially if you’ve read its predecessor and you think you know what it’s going to be all about. (Trust me, you don’t.) I’ll just say it’s so much more – more laughter, more heat, more chemistry. This is the kind of story that has romance readers squealing in delight, swooning in their seats and laughing out loud. I loved every single word, every single moment and innuendo.
Blakely is on my short list of no-fail, never-let-me-down authors. I reach for her books when I need a pick me up, and she always but always gives it to me. The Dating Proposal is another in a long line of Blakely’s contemporary romances and romantic comedies I will reach for time and time again. Five smooches from me!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019This book was recommended to me as a KindleUnlimited suggestion, and the algorithim wasn't too far off. I did enjoy the overall light-hearted nature of the story, it was definitely a rom com.
The novel starts with McKenna realizing she is fully over her ex, and after that he barely features in the story as more than an afterthought. I always enjoy a romance with male & female POV, though I prefer a completely even split. But that's a minor complaint. Chris was charming, had good dirty talk when needed and always had his own life beyond just falling for McKenna.
The reason this book stayed at 3 stars was for the lackluster dialogue, weirdly rushed romance drama before HEA and weak supporting characters. Andy was supposedly a big part of McKenna's life but he was never with the main friends OR introduced to Chris. He really seemed like a token gay BFF for our heroine to seem open. Which, she really wasn't from her purely hetero fashion blog--but that's a longer discussion.
SPOILER
Overall: McKenna and Chris had an adorable meet cute, great chemistry and two sweet epilogues. I also loved that she didn't want to take his name for the alliteration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and relatable...
You may have seen that this book is a re write of an older book from Ms Blakely called ‘TROPHY HUSBAND’. I read the first version, and adored it... so I went into this one with open eyes... and expecting to have known every word... actually, I think I loved it more..
RomComs are my go to genre... fun, fantastic, light - great escape ... and when it comes to RomComs Lauren is the queen of them. This one has some great funny lines unsurprising as it’s a tale of two smart San Franciscans who are proud of their geekiness...
Now titled ‘The Dating Proposal’ Lauren Blakely has created a standalone romance told in dual POV between our quirky, geeky and funny hero and heroine... Chris and McKenna.
Both McKenna and Chris have had their fair share of being burnt in previous relationships so neither were looking for a partner in any way. But you can’t deny chemistry.... and and there is chemistry, heat, passion galore...
Chris has his own show on Webflix but his boss wants him to find a way to gain more female viewers and make his content more relatable to the female audience. When he meets McKenna it's like the stars aligned...
McKenna is a fashion blogger with a solid business plan and an engaged audience. She is looking to expand her follower base and make her content more relatable to males as well as females. Having just made it through the one-year anniversary of being dumped the day before her wedding she comes up with a dating plan and how to blog about it....
Funny and relatable with a slow burn and some great sexy time - I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The nerdy surfer and the fashionista
Chris is the complete package- brilliant, nerdy, sweet, funny, athletic and good looking. He's got a great job and pays his bills on time- so why's he single....
As McKenna works through dating in today's time without dating apps/online profiles she has to wade through all the fish in the sea. Just because Chris strikes all her boxes doesn't mean these two can work. Cause she's got some fears in her way and he's got some no office romance trust issues in his.
But maybe.....
I really enjoyed reading this book, couldn't out it down. Chris is my kind of guy- well rounded, skilled in multiple things and a sweetheart. Mckenna- I felt for her, especially with her stupid ex.
This story made me laugh, shed some tears and I could clearly picture their steamy chemistry. Great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
How to deal with emotions and face your fears, or reality.
Cleverly written with masses of sass and funny, make you laugh scenes, ranging from a series of dating hiccups, not disasters to a destructive devil cat.
Absolutely loved this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Such a cute read
Awww this was such a cute, sweet and just lovely story.
Mckenna and Chris have bot been dealt a sh!tty hand in the love department, however both are ready to move on - but only into fun dating.
Ha! Right! I loved that as an outsider to this story, you can see them falling waaaaay before do, and it is a wondeful thing to watch.
Chris has this geek hotness thing going on - and I am a bit of a sucker for that!
Mckenna is kicking life's butt in her mission to get back into the dating world *shudders at that thought* and I just adore her all the more.
Cute read (previously released as Trophy Husband, but completely rewritten and mostly new content).
I look forward to what Ms Blakely brings us next

4.0 out of 5 stars "Orgasmic Ketchup"
That phrase along with other silly ones are highlighted in this book! Chris and McKenna do everything they can not to fall in love. They both have been hurt in the past so taking that leap of love is much harder for them. This book has humour, hot sexy scenes and emotional elements.
