Jed Simms, principal creator of TOP®-Totally Optimized Projects, has pioneered the focus on strategy execution and value delivery through projects as a competitive weapon.
Jed is a former Asia-Pacific IT Strategist for The Boston Consulting Group and led worldwide studies into what drives and destroys project value. Through these studies he discovered and quantified the correlation between an organization’s capability to direct, manage and optimize the value generated through project investments, and the financial returns an organisation receives over time. Using these findings, he developed a complete suite of business value-driven management approaches to equip organizations to consistently deliver "Totally Optimized Projects".
Professor James McKinney of Harvard Business School rated Jed's work as "World class, three to five years ahead of competition." The Australian Information Industry Association recognized his TOP programs as one of Australia's "Outstanding Product Innovations" in 2004. An awarded public speaker in Australia and internationally, Jed has written extensively on how businesses can better execute their strategies, optimize their projects and exploit IT. Born in Britain, Jed has lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East and, for the past 30 years, in Australia.
Jed has held almost every project and strategy-related role possible including strategist, strategy consultant, CEO, investments committee member, PPMO Manager, CIO, business line manager as well as sponsor, steering committee member, project analyst and project manager.
The industry sectors he has worked in include utilities, manufacturing, insurance, banking, telecommunications, and services, and he has consulted to many more.
