How long can an old flame burn?

Lisa Blake was living her best life. She left her friends behind to travel the world with her gorgeous new beau.

But it didn’t last . . .

Now she’s single, alone and living in her parents’ spare room. And working as a pet sitter.

She has a lot of bridges to rebuild. At least she’s made up with old best friend Flick. But there are a few people she’s rather not see again.

And number one on that list is her high school sweetheart Nathan . . . Who she drunkenly adds on Facebook one night.

Reuniting with Nathan opens up a whole new can of worms. And it turns out her old flame is now a hunky fireman.

But is it too late for a second chance with the one who got away?

Perfect for fans of Phoebe MacLeod, Marie Laval, Holly Martin, Debbie Johnson, Caroline James or Kathryn Freeman.

Loved this book. It kept me interested throughout the book. I haven’t read any other books in the Lisa Blake series yet

*The Purrfect Pet Sitter* was a delightful read of a woman trying to find herself.

Lisa had the perfect life, at least from the outside. She had a fabulous job, lived in London, and had a loving boyfriend. Until, it all fell apart. Lisa moved back into her childhood home as she tries to pick up what is left in her life. She starts a pet sitting business, where she meets the vibrant Winnie. Winnie coaches her on moving forward with her life all the while adding some humor and perspective. This tale follows Lisa as she learns how to ask for forgiveness from her high school friends and family. Along the way, she finds her mojo and discovers her true happiness.

Tank and I picked this book because it was about a pet sitter. The pets made occasional appearances by adding humor and fun activities. They weren't the main focus of the story.

Lisa was the main focus of the story. I had a hard time really connecting with her at first. She seemed so lost and passive. She kept being the victim. She is 29; time to be in charge of your life! As the story went on, I grew more attached to her. I had developed empathy for her character after all the bad things she went through. But it took a while to break through her facade to get to the real Lisa!

I thought the hardest part was getting through the first part of the book. The plot kind of dragged up until about 1/3 of the way. Then, it picked up, and the story gradually sucked me in. There were parts that I laughed and parts that I cried. I am glad that I stuck it out as the ending was endearing!

*The Purrfect Pet Sitter* is a tale of second chances and remembering that things aren't always what they seem.

Characters that feel like friends, who you look forward to catching up to, all the details and complexity that bring a story to life. A bit slow in the middle, but so worth spending time with. A masterful tapestry of people, misunderstanding and understanding. Heart ache and hurt that we can all identify with, handled gently and made whole in the warp and weft of story. Just what literature is meant to do.

This was a fun read but also makes you remember friends from your past you would like to see again

Super cute story! This was a fun, sweet read. Just what I needed at the time! There were some awww moments and a few sad ones, but lots of cute fuzzy moments that made me smile.

Great characters, the kind you fall in love with. Sometimes I just don't connect with characters but I really liked the whole cast in here. And I did especially like Lisa.

One thing I really liked and thought was very clever was all the references to The Titanic movie. "Dom" calling Lisa - Rose and playing My Heart Will Go On in the coffee shop! That was so sweet and it did give me a little romantic goosebump or two LOL. I loved Dom. He stole my heart!

If you are looking for an easy reading, nice flowing romancey cute book with a few dogs thrown in the mix - this is the one!

I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from Rachel's Random Resources - Thank You!!

I was fortunate to be allowed an advance copy of this novel. I read it around Valentine's Day which was the purrfect time of year for this fun, romantic read.
It is not silly and sappy or gooey sweet. Actually, the heroine struggles with her emotions through much of the book.

It is a wonderful novel of friendship and learning to love oneself, about facing life's difficulties and continuing to move forward. It is about remembering to appreciate the good times and people life places in our path.

Carol Thomas writes cleanly with the right amount of humor to put a smile on your face and a few laugh out loud moments.

This is the kind of book I want to share with friends.
    I give it a full 5 stars.

I thought it would be about the funny tales of a pet sitter, but I was wrong. Although we follow Lisa when she is doing her job, the story is about so much more. It's about friends, love and family lost and found, about a secret that seems to threaten but are lovely when revealed, about changes in life. There are fun parts but also moments filled with a lot of tears. Some are happy ones, some are sad ones. But in the end, everything comes together and only happy tears remain.

The book is fluently written and it took me by the hand and would not let go until the last full stop. Loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful novel. The characters are real and the plot believable. At times I laughed out loud and at other points I cried along with Lisa, the main character. It was an easy read and yet the plot and characters were well constructed and held my interest for the entire novel. I will recommend it to my friends and I know that they will enjoy it too.

The Purrfect Pet Sitter is such a brilliant read! It is very entertaining with very funny aspects and a few emotional aspects too. I got taken into the wonderful world of Lisa and I did not want her story to end! I absolutely loved the romance side of this book it’s so well written but I also really enjoyed the story of friendship and got totally caught up in Lisa and Felicity’s renewed friendship and Lisa’s very lovely friendship with Winnie. The characters in this book are so loveable you just want to know what happens with them next and it makes it such an easy read. I read The Purrfect Pet Sitter over two days and it normally takes me months to read one book, I could not put it down and I just had to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone! So well written and just a wonderful story from start to finish.

I met this local author at an event in Arundel and, after eyeing up her books in person, I invested in the kindle edition of this one and carefully positioned it on my TBR list. Now that I've finally read it, here's what I loved about it:

    1. It's set in my local area, which is awesome. I have my own memories of the annual bonfire/parade/fireworks, so it almost feels like a true story!

    2. This is a clean rom com - no need to worry about people seeing what I'm reading!

    3. Lisa has depth, a strong backstory, and I was really rooting for her.

    4. It's funny! Especially the dogs' antics. And the kids'. You can always count on pets and small children to do something inappropriate or cause a panic!

    5. Flick and Lisa's rekindled friendship.

    6. Winnie.

    7. 8. 9... oh, so much stuff, I'm going to stop listing.

This is a light, fun, easy-read book that is purrfect all year round. Highly recommend.
