Tabitha's Story: A Clean Historical Western Romance (Brides Of Weber Valley Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 14 ratings

Ogden, Utah Territory – 1872

With her younger sister, Suzy, Tabitha Church fled her home in Chicago one autumn night, running away from an engagement that was doomed to become a loveless marriage if she didn’t do something about it. They arrived in the small town of Ogden, Utah with nothing but the dresses on their backs and a fair amount of hopefulness. Unfortunately, Suzy also arrived with a terrible illness that she contracted during their travels.

Desperate for money and shelter, the girls make an abandoned stable their temporary new home. While her sister rests during the day, Tabitha works hard to scrounge for food, taking whatever she can from some of the neighboring farms when no one is looking. One day, she’s nearly caught by a farm hand and manages to escape, but not without the handsome young man getting a good look at her.

Soon, a kindly general store owner offers her some assistance, and before long, the sisters have a new place to stay in a nice inn in exchange for Tabitha pitching in to help run the place. It would appear the world is looking up for Tabitha, until she realizes the owners of their new residence also own the very farm that she was caught stealing from. To make matters worse, Neil, the handsome farm hand that caught her stealing apples, is given the task to drive her into town daily and they begin to take a liking to each other.

Will the chemistry between Neil and Tabitha bloom, or will her past deeds be too egregious for him to forgive?

I received this book in the hopes that I would like it enough to voluntarily leave a review. I must first tell you that I not only liked it, I loved it! Enough that I bought the book so I can read it over and over again whenever I feel like it.

Tabitha and her younger sister Suzy had to flee their home in Chicago in the autumn at night, she was fleeing from her older Fiancee Tobias Oswald, he was unkind and Tabitha wanted to marry for love not because of being forced to. They had no money beyond what it took to get to Ogden, Utah. They had nothing but the clothes they wore and Suzy became very ill during their travels.

Tabitha had to scrounge for food for them, apples and eggs from neighboring farms. They found an abandoned barn that they moved into. Suzy was too sick to do anything but sleep. Tabitha was so afraid that if she didn't find somewhere warm with proper food she would lose her sister. Tabitha went to the general store after Neil caught her stealing apples, to sell them and the eggs. The owner Percy helped them by paying for a room for them and making arrangements with Mr. Pratt and his wife who owns and runs the inn to work for them for staying there free.

The funny thing is it was the same farm she stole from. Diana Pratt the owner told her sister-in-law Hattie Ford to train Tabitha and guess who her brother was? None other than Neil Ford. Would he tell on her? What problems were they going to face? Would he forgive her and help her? Would they fall in love or will he let her stealing keep him from loving her? What happened to Suzy?

I just know you will love this story as much as I did. On top of this story there are fabulous bonus stories in the back. You will enjoy each of them too. I very much recommend this book to you!

This was a great story, a story to read when you are feeling tired and stressed or just down. It immediately picks you up and makes you feel that there is good in the world. Very well written and yet another book by this author that I have loved and can highly recommend. I am voluntarily reviewing this book after the author gifted me a copy

Having run away from an unbearable future with someone that she didn't want to marry. Tabitha and her sister find themselves without anything but the clothes on their back. Her sister got sick while traveling and Tabitha was scrounging
around the town looking for food and what ever she could find to sell to the merchant to for a little coin. The merchant realized that she was homeless and that her sister was sick. He found them a place to stay where they could work for room and board. What will happen the the girls?
Received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

I have enjoyed reading every book in this series and this one is no exception. These are stories you can read in one sitting. You can read each one as a stand alone story but I would recommend reading the books from the beginning in order to learn about the different characters. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received this ARC for review consideration

I really loved the beginning of this story and the underlying mystery to me was, would Tabitha and Suzy really escape what they were running from. It was amazing how badly some women were treated in this era. Would Tabitha truly find happiness or more of what she was running from?. I really enjoyed reading this ARC copy that I received for review consideration.

I received this ARC for review consideration. I loved this book as I have loved this whole series by Charity Phillips. This one had a different background to the story that made it extra special- not just the run of the mill western romance. It is a wonderful story of two sisters who do what they must to survive even on the run.

I received this as an arc for my voluntary review. This was a story about courage, tenacity and hope in a young woman trying to find and make a better life for her and her sister. Very enjoyable read. I'm so glad characters from all the books are entertwined in all the books. I love this series.
