Taming Teddy: Made Marian Series Book 2 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 3,576 ratings

Teddy: If there’s one thing I don’t do, it’s commitment. You don’t become an award-winning photographer by staying in one place. I’m always on the road, looking for the next shot, the next award, the next hot body. Which is how I end up on Dr. James Marian’s front porch in the middle-of-nowhere Alaska. He’s known as the Wildlife Whisperer, and I want to photograph him in action. He’s reluctant at first, but I can be persuasive.

Soon enough I have him in bed saying yes over and over and over again, but my ability to shoot and scoot is frozen by a Denali snowstorm.

Jamie: I always thought of myself as the marrying type. Until I got left at the altar. Now I have a new motto: never commit and never fall in love. So when a cocky nature photographer decides I’m the key to his next masterpiece, it seems like the perfect arrangement: the hotshot’s only in town for a brief assignment and then he’ll be gone. No commitment, no strings, and no chance of getting my heart broken again.

There’s just one problem: I think I’m falling in love. Now I’m afraid that maybe I’m the marrying type after all. And he definitely is not.

While it can also be read on its own, Taming Teddy is the second in the new Made Marian series. Each book tells the story of one of the Marian brothers' search for true love. The first in the series, Borrowing Blue, is available now.

This is the second book in the Made Marian series, but it works perfectly well as a stadalone... trust me, I read it out of order ;) as in I started with the first one, but then was so curious about the third, that I skipped this one :) so you can really read it whenever you want to and it will be just fine :) by the way, Made Marian is a series all about the Marian siblings, both born and adopted ones ;) each book concentrates on a different one, but most of them appear in each installment as secondary characters so you get all sorts of updates :) from the ones I read so far... and I checked with my sister who read even more :) each of them can be read as a standalone, so you can pick the ones that sounds the most interesting to you and start there :) of course, if you read them in order, then all of the connections between certain characters will make more sense, but it's not necessary to enjoy them :) the choice is yours :) now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about the main couple of this story :)

Jamie is the Marian half of the duo... expert when it comes to wild animals, he often changes places where he stays and works... currently, and for the last few years, that place was Alaska :) Jamie works there in the national park or something like that ;) taking care of the different animals and doing some research... Teddy on the other hand is a photographer... he really travels around all the time to different assingments, taking jobs how he feels like :) and where Jamie is calm, collected and quiet, Teddy is talkative, open and even a bit arrogant ;) at first they meet sort of online... because Teddy wants to take pictures of Jamie during his work and his very opposed to this idea... for reasons of his own that I won't get into right now... he tries many times to convince him to say yes, but when that doesn't work, he decides to just go for it and shows up unannounced at Jamie's door... in Alaska... right before a snow storm... without a place to sleep... yeah... great plan :) from there, a lot of interesting things are happening, but I won't spoil you any of them :) so instead, let's get into all of the reasons why I loved this story and gave it 5 stars :)

I'm not sure where to start with all of my praises about this gem ;) so maybe with the characters first? :) both Jamie and Teddy were much better than I expected... Jamie is just so sweet and precious and needs to be protected at all costs ;) there were so many moments when I just wanted to reach into the book and hug him... usually he's calm and quiet, but now he's more distant than usual when it comes to people... but being left at the altar will do that to you... Teddy is his complete opposite ;) confident to the point of being arrogant a lot of the times, he's also absolutely charming and you can't help but just fall for him ;) and if you don't count one angry sex scene at the beginning of the book, this is actually a slow burn romance...which is my personal favourite ;) after that very hot encounter they sort of become friends :) even though they both feel that connection between them, they don't want to start anything serious... after all, there are quite a few obstacles on the way... not only do they live in different states, they both have issues to deal with before diving into anything serious... plus, a lot of things happen in this book as well that affect them, so it's not an easy path :) but all of their banter and chemistry along the way is awesome to witness ;) to be honest, I am surprised by how much I actually loved their story :) it overlaps a bit with the events of both the first and the third one, but like I mentioned before, it doesn't take away from your enjoyment of this book if you haven't read the others :) besides the absolutely amazing main couple, we have some great secondary characters as well :) plus, since I read this novel in the audiobook format, I have to mention the phenomenal narrator... I mean, just wow :) he does two very distinctive voices for our main couple and his overall performance is fantastic... he really brings them to life :) I highly recommend you to experiece this book in this format, but if you prefer another one, go for what you love... either way, definitely give these men a chance to win over your heart... ;)

I liked everything except when Jamie kisses two other people after having already slept with teddy. Is it technically cheating? No, they weren’t “in a relationship” but in my mind, yes it is. Teddy was pining for Jamie and Jamie is out trying to hook up and telling teddy all about it. I hated that part.

    Three For The Money

I occasionally do this and I apologize if you don't like me wrapping a whole series in one review. However, this one caught me by complete surprise to the point where I abandoned all the other books I was reading (and they are all by some of my favorite authors) and read straight through these three like a hot knife through butter.

First of all, the characters surrounding the MCs in each book are the crazy Marian family of Northern California, a free-wheeling, loving gang of six natural siblings, five boys (three gay, but one in the closet), and one girl, Simone. Then there's Aunt Tilly, one of the great hoots of all time, and attendant members of other clans and friends of each of the MCs--this gang can definitely shoot straight, but sometimes they all miss the mark.

The main theme in each book is that every single one of the MCs is terrified of commitment for good reason. In "Borrowing Blue," Blue (nee Bartholomew) Marian has just been dumped by his long-time lover Jeremy on the eve of Simone's wedding, and he is not interested in ever having another relationship. Then he meets casual a supposedly straight man named Tristan in the bar of the vineyard estate where Simone's wedding is to take place. Tristan is just coming off a bitter divorce propagated by him finding his wife entwined with...well, that would be giving away a spoiler.

Needless to say, when Jeremy walks into the bar with a boy toy (he was invited to the wedding) and Tristan offers to kiss Blue to prank Jeremy, we have the beginning of a wonderful assignation during which Tristan comes to terms with the fact that he has probably always been at least bi, and Blue comes to the conclusion that this cannot and should not last.

But it does, and along the way during the week-long lead up to the wedding, Blue's brother Jamie comes to town from Alaska where he, a dedicated environmental super star, had just been recently literally left at the altar by a guy named Brian, who turned out to be married. Jamie is off commitments and is also trying to escape the e-mail and voice-mail entreaties of a world-renowned wildlife photographer named Theodore Kodiak, which leads us into "Taming Teddy."

Teddy will bed anyone at anytime, male or female, on the condition that both realize it's likely to be a one-off, and when he finally corrals Jamie in the second book, the slightly older man becomes besotted. To say nothing of how Jamie feels. This book has far more angst than the previous one, but the resolutions are quite remarkable. During a wild New Year's weekend in Hawaii where the whole family has escaped for another wedding, Jamie notices his country-music superstar brother Jude in a hallway being ravaged by his tall, hot, ex-Marine bodyguard Derek--which shocks him because Jude is supposed to be straight (we know he's not because Blue tells us this secret in the first book).

That brings us to "Jumping Jude," which presents us with the Jude-Derek situation, in which both are deeply closeted but in the end it's Derek who cannot force himself to come out. This leads to a major rift that lasts longer than it should because Derek--like Teddy and Blue before him--simply has his head up his ass about relationships.

Each of the books has basically the same plot, but each of the MCs stand out as brilliantly constructed individuals. The covers are absolutely spot-on--you can see the family resemblance in Blue, Jamie and Jude. The sex is explosive and there are a great many sex scenes, each of which stands alone as a lead-up to the next encounter.

In the end, what is implied in the author's note is that she is not done. See, the Marians became very involved in the LGBTQ community when Blue and Jamie came out, and they adopted three young gay men who are now in college--and I think Ms. Lennox has some more Marians to be made. That would be wonderful, because this is one clan I can say lives up to family values.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teddy & Jamie

Since book 1, I felt a connection with Jamie as he was always sweet and loving despite of his sad previous love story.

Frustrated by his former husband to be and literally left at the altar, Jamie dove headfirst in his solitude living his life in the Alaska wildness as a wildlife’s consultant.

After seeing Jamie in a previous picture, the awarded wildlife photographer Teddy gets simply obsessed about having Jamie as his muse for the long wanted picture of his life.

Doing literally everything he could to be with Jamie, Teddy finds not only his long waited muse but the reason him and Jamie would definitely leave their one night stands single life behind to embrace the perspective of living a life together in its fullest.

Beautiful scenery, very interesting wildlife facts and a lot of sweetness mixed with a looot of steam makes this another LL’s hit. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I feel the love! Awww so much! That's what i take from this whole series. It gives me the warm fuzzies all over.

Awww sweet Jamie with a side of snark. Love him! You can tell he's a Marian by his dry sense of humour and dirty innuendo's. He's so sweet though just wanna keep him in your pocket to take out when needed lol. I loved his contradiction of strong and confident but slso he was vulnerable and sweet. Such a cutie!

And Teddy Bear! He was so perfect for Jamie. Snark to match but also he was vulnerable and kinda sweet but he was more determined i guess. I loved how he kept going back to Jamie not really understanding why because he'd never had that connection before.

Fantastic storyline. I loved being out in the wilderness with them. It was kind of a game of cat and mouse except the mouse didn't really try running but the cat gave chase anyway. The ending was off the scale amazing! Teddy's speech! I had tears in my eyes! So bloody lovely.

All the nutty stars for this one! Love!

This was another great read - shaping up to be another amazing series by this author. This book was set predominantly in Alaska where Jamie works, so we see less of the Marian family than we did in the first book. That said, the book didn't suffer for that. I absolutely loved all the scenes set out in the wild with Jamie working and interacting with the animals, and then with Tristan taking photos. Especially the chapters from Tristan's POV where he described Jamie's connection with the animals - it made for amazing reading!

The chemistry between Jamie and Tristan was palpable from the start - that only added to the tension between them given Jamie had been trying to avoid Tristan doing a photoshoot with him. I enjoyed watching them get to know each other, and Tristan's respect for Jamie's wishes regarding the photoshoot. I also enjoyed the friendship that developed between them too - it wasn't just about the physical side of things.

Once again, as with any book I've read by this author to date, the storyline flowed well, had great character depth, and was interesting and intriguing. It is one of those books that you want to keep reading - not necessarily because you're on the edge of your seat, but because it is such a fun read - it really pulls you in until you feel you know the characters and are part of their lives yourself.

I look forward to more in this series, and more from this author, and this is definitely a series I would recommend.

This is the tale of Dr. Jamie Marian, a wildlife consultant, in Alaska and Teddy Kodiak a photographer who wants to take some pictures of Jamie, as he is known as the wildlife whisperer.

It gets off to a rocky start, as Jamie doesn't want his picture taken and Teddy won't take no for an answer.

There is miscommunication, mixed messages, long flights and of course three little old ladies who tell it like it is. Can there relationship survive all that plus the 3,000 miles that separate them?

It is a WILD ride to find out. I liked Jamie and what he stood for. He doesn't compromise his morals for anything.

The whole Marian family is back, as well as a fluffy dog named Sister, and some adorable WILD animals.
