I believe that I have seen the future when reading this series. Serial episodes each of which costs $3.99. Each a short novelette that leaves you hanging. Didn't Charles Dickens and his publishers think this one up? It really is happening in digital fiction to the tune of 11 times $3.99 = $43.89. It is a pretty good series, but I'm not interested at that price. When I started this series I thought it might be a twist on Lee Child and Jack Reacher. It turned out to be a cut or two below the best Reacher novels. One thing I like about Reacher is the moral certainty -- bad guys are really bad and even though I couldn't condone much of Jack's behavior, it is all within the bounds of decency versus corruption. So, there is a sense of emotional gratification, a kind of moral finality, when Reacher breaks a thugs knee or worse. There is an element of that in the Tanner series, but it just doesn't provide the release that is present with the best of Child. Tanner is sympathetic, but no Jack Reacher. Nor does this series stand up to the best of John Locke's work which by the way has a similar business model. Lots of novelettes generating lots of cash. Locke's work stands out because of its subtle and not so subtle sense of humor and imagination. In summary, if you have a lot of dead time on your hands you might spend it reading this series. In my case I'm done with Remington Kane. I'm giving it a 4-star rating because it is well-done and well-edited.

I have read a couple of the books in this series and have yet to be disappointed.

The real icing on the cake for this book in the series is that we finally get the back story on tanner. I have been wondering about it since the first book and I can tell you that I did not see this coming. It was a great surprise and alone is reason enough to buy this book.

Tanner is really a unique character and while being an assassin with a conscious isn't new Tanner is a different breed than you may have read in the past.

    Tanner is driven home, literally.

As a general rule I hate flashbacks but because I have wondered so long about Tanner's origins that I was glued to the pages as we follow Tanner through real time as he deals with the issues he's facing while being drawn to the past as he walks the familiar grounds of his youth.

Taking the past out of the story, it is another great piece of escapism for those of that love action/thriller books.

I recommend this series for all fans of the genre and anyone thinking of dipping their toes into the action/thriller genre. The prolific nature of the author have given us an excellent character to enjoy for a long time and that's not even mentioning the other series he's written. If none of that convinces you to buy the book then there's really nothing more to say.

This series.... the books aren't too long, plot is always riveting and the character development is deep. This story is like the Titanic, you know tragedy is coming but you are still waiting to see what transpires. Definitely some twists that explain a lot. I'd argue that the last two books have been the best in the series but they have all been awesome. This series gets better each book so keep reading. Great writing Remington Kane!

This may have been the finest entry in the Tanner series. The flashback to Tanner experiencing problems protecting this family and meeting the young man who's a crack shot is significant and crazy good. The present thread has congruities with the family he is protecting now and the one in the past. The fascinating secret of who Tanner is, can be mind-blowing. The action is tremendous and satisfying although horrible with the depth of violence. Ultimately, this is my kind of hero/main character. He is resolutely badass and merciless - and appropriately so. Great ride with one of my favorite series. Beautiful work Remington Kane.

To say I was not expecting this turn in the story was like mind boggling! The writer finally gives us the back and birth story on Tanner. This was not only written well but the switching back and forth between the past and the present was done so very effortlessly. This was every thing and then some.

My second time reading it. It gives Tanner's back story when he was Cody Parker and had a family.
Tanner six is his mentor. You get introduced to the real Romeo.

This follows on nicely from the previous. This series needs to be read in sequence however, otherwise it could be disjointed.
