Although there were too many 'thoughts', much of which I skipped, I loved that book. Such a good story and such a lively ending.

The story is well written and interesting: well up to Mack's standard. However the story never really gets over the problem that the hero is (in old fashioned words) a rotter. Being 'besotted' is not any excuse for trying to seduce a married woman. And an unexpected inheritance for the rotter (to enable him to marry the heroine) feels artificial. Good but reservations.

I love the author's other books. Usually very interesting reads but I had to fast forward through this one. Not one of the main characters was very likeable.

Another well written regency by Dorothy Mack. Not by any means a comedy but a serious tale of how a young woman tries to shield her married cousin from well deserved scandal and ends up trapped into marriage. But all ends well. excellent story.

Here we have the heroine who has a cousin who is a conceited slut. The heroine has hated her cousin all her life but does not have the common sense to stand up and look out for her own interests. She has a small instant in her 15 yr old life where she has a handsome man give her a little kiss and she believes she is in love and will never consider another man. 5 yrs later she thinks she still loves this same man who loves her married cousin. She then takes the blame after finding the two in cousin's bedroom in an embrace and saves her cousin. She then lets everyone rush her into marriage with a degenerate for a husband. At the 75% mark in the book I decided I'd had enough and quit reading because I had punished myself sufficiently. There is nothing I love more than a strong female character, sadly I didn't find it in this book. Therefore I can not recommend this book to any other reader of Regency novels.

While I cannot give this five stars, it was a very enjoyable book, just not one that gave as much pleasurable reading as others. Belinda was my favorite character, and though he turned himself around, Anthony could not be the best-liked. Least-liked character was Deidra, who was a real character, as well a a woman who would never be happy!
I could recommend this to a mature reader, but not a teen. It’s a bit earthy without real sex scenes. The actions of Dee and Tony make it so.

The story is interesting and about friendships, making things better and courage to bring about change. Children will like the sharp illustrations and the flow of the story.

I've been reading Regency Romances for ages, and lately have been feeling jaded about it all - then I read this and it brought back my enthusiasm. Ms Mack can certainly write a great story, and I even felt a bit teary after our H and h finally made it together despite all their trials and tribulations. A very good story and well written, so recommended to all who love a wonderful romance.

Another lovely and quite enjoyable story by Dorothy Mack! No cartoonish villains here, simply well developed and , importantly, believable characters in an interesting and full plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Belinda and Deirdre, close in age and looks but wholly different in personality, compete for the heart of Anthony, of golden, godlike perfection

...Forget the bare lines of the plot: they do nothing to render the skilled conduction of the action, compelling analysis of the characters, reflective elegance of expression and richly satisfying buildup that I find distinguish the efforts of this excellent author.

This one of my favourite author's.. I find I enjoy her storyline and the characters there. Is always that one that needs to get her come nuance, and the chase and a solution. The fun ,sadness and disappointment when you reach the final page. There's another book to find and read.
