Thanos (Masters Among Monsters Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 256 ratings

CHARMED FOR LIFE?

Thanos Agapiou has always been a charmer. For over two millennia, the vampire had no problem acquiring whom and what he wanted with a flash of his handsome smile. He took for granted the boyish good looks he presumed he’d possess for the rest of eternity.

How very wrong he was.

A nearly fatal attack distorted his entire existence. With his appearance now matching the title many have bestowed their kind—monster—he hides away from the world and all of those who know him, including his Ancient, Eton.
Until one night when a stranger draws him out from the shadows.

OR CURSED FOR ETERNITY?

Ever since Paris Antoniou was thrust into a world of vampires, his reality has become stranger than the history and the myths he’s studied for the past decade.

When he learns the truth about his origins and the power he wields, his confusion and fear have him running for his life. What he doesn’t expect is to run into the arms of Thanos—a vampire who doesn’t intimidate him as much as he intrigues him.

WHAT HAS THE POWER TO MAKE YOU WANT TO SURVIVE?

As their worlds collide under extraordinary circumstances, an attraction neither can deny takes hold. But will that be enough to save Thanos from his demons, or will he condemn Paris to his fate?

Destinies have been changed. Lines have been crossed. And, with tales of the vampire race coming to an end, who will make the ultimate sacrifice?
After all, in a world run by vampires and gods, only one can be the true Master among the Monsters.

Epic ending for a fantastic series! Ella Frank never let's you down!

Epic ending for a fantastic series! Ella Frank never let's you down!
Thanos Agapiou. He has always been an extremely handsome vampire, but after being disfigured by Elias, he has retreated into his own world away from his Ancient and everyone he holds dear. Enter Paris Antoniou who has no idea how he has entered into the lair of these intimidating creatures. Paris finds himself strangely drawn to Thanos no matter his appearance, but he does not yet know the power that is inside him, but he will. The Masters Among Monsters series must be read in order --- and I fully enjoyed the history, storyline and the hot Vampires and the men sent by the Gods to destroy them. Ella Frank never disappoints in her stellar writing. 5 big stars!

    ***5 ‘So. Damn. Good’ Stars***

Actually this book, and series as a whole, deserves more than 5 stars. It was dark, decadent, sensuous, sinful and brutal and yet held such beauty despite, or because of, theses excesses that it sunk it’s greedy claws into me and I couldn’t put it down. I was absolutely hooked and needed to find out how all the pieces would fall into place but more importantly I simply needed to spend as much time as I could with this cast of characters. They got under my skin and I dare say into my heart with each turn of the page as I started to question who the real Masters and Monsters were.

Things start off right where Isadora ended and Thanos is on the chopping block, in more ways than one. Blessed with panty melting good looks, he’s as arrogant as they come and yet after a series of events feels more the monster than ever before. I loved Thano’s cocky nature and then finding out about his life before being turned and what it truly meant for him to be Eton’s first sired, I couldn’t help but adore him. He’s had to do as he promised for centuries and lock away his own needs, but with their lives on the line he finds that some things never die.

Paris, the youngest and softest, at least on the surface, of his friends is trying to hold to his sanity as he is thrust into the world of vampires. He’s so twisted around that it appears he will completely splinter from the stress. But after spending time in the dark with one of the vampires he discovers a strength he never knew he possessed. I swear I thought Paris would lose it numerous times, but through his compassionate nature he finds the strength to look beyond his fear and reach out to find the heart of a monster who believes he doesn’t have one.

Paris and Thanos probably have the sweetest relationship of them all, and that’s saying something considering the situation, but the connection between them is potent and with time running out the need to dive in is put into overdrive. The sexual tension is intense and despite everything going on around them a connection is made that if they can take a moment to explore it, it could turn into something life changing.

And as with the previous books the other colorful characters are never in the shadows. We are continually updated with what they are all going through as they deal with not only the changes going on in their personal relationships but the impending implosion of their way of life. I won’t deny that Alasdair, Leo and Vasilios are my favorites, the sexual chemistry between them is off the charts and watching as the dynamic of their relationship changes and grows is pure entertainment. But that doesn’t diminish what occurs between Isadora, Elias and Diomêdês. The fight for dominance, for the upper hand between Elias and Diomêdês is a sight to see, as is watching Isadora sooth both of their beasts.

But while they are all navigating their new relationships, death is looming like the Sword of Damocles over their heads. I must say that I’ve loved the twists and turns of this story. One second you truly believe that the end is near and then Ms. Frank tosses in a little twist and while you’re relieved that things go the way you were hoping, you realize that it will probably be short lived. I’ve loved how the culture and mores of everyday life of ancient Greece was intertwined with the story as well as the capricious nature of the Greek Gods. And as everything came to a head and the final blow was struck I have to say that I am thoroughly satisfied. That epilogue was brilliant and I must give Ms. Frank major kudos for what it because I didn’t see it coming, but loved it even as it left me aching for more.

As this is the final book in the Masters Among Monsters series(and please, please do NOT start with Thanos, you must start with Alasdair), I find it to be a bittersweet farewell because Alasdair was my very first book by Ella Frank and I was hooked from the very start. The prose, the storyline, and the characters were all so well crafted it was hard to put down and I hate that I have to say goodbye, though I have already put the request out there for more: I begged Ms. Frank prettily and asked for it with Vasilios on top *BSEG* But at least I have the books as well as the audiobooks, so will be able to hang out with/lust after these amazing characters whenever I desire.

Thanos (Master Among Monsters #3) by Ella Frank
    4.5 stars!!!

“It appears that even when the heart stops, it still recognizes the one that it was destined to beat for.”

OMG, this series has been addictive from the very first page of Alasdair and has held me captive throughout Isadora and now Thanos. This is the last book in this trilogy and with the prophecies end coming ever closer you always knew that this book was going to be action packed and emotionally draining and Ella Frank didn’t disappoint. But, I am disappointed though…the series has ended. Ella Frank never fails to embed her characters into my heart and these crazy vampires are nestled firmly in there all cosy and in for the long haul and that is a great sign that an author has done their job, when the characters are so memorable that you don’t want to let them go.

This series must be read in order and Thanos picks up where Isadora left off with Thanos angry at the ancients for the current situation he finds himself in. With the threat of the Gods getting stronger by the day though, these vampires need to stick together and never before have their bonds been so conducive to their survival.

“…I see every line, every jagged scar marring your otherwise perfect face. And it’s a glaring reminder that we were sent here to hurt you. That we are the true monsters in this equation, not you.”

Thanos and Eton’s relationship has never really been explained in the previous books, but you always had an inkling that they were bonded differently than the others. Eton and Thanos’s dynamic was totally different to Alasdair and Vasilios and Isadora and Diomedes and I was always left wondering…why? It was the enigma surrounding these two that made this book all the more intriguing and as little by little we are fed their past, everything soon becomes clear and I never saw it coming.

“You are like the thorns on a rose, Thanos. A painful beauty. One I will always want to hold, no matter the blood it draws from me.”

Actually, there was a lot I never saw coming, especially the ending. I will say I was happy with how this ended although I would have liked a little more explanation. For me personally it did end a little too abruptly and after the intense build up I was just expecting more. Is this the ending I thought? Hell no…did Ella Frank blind side me? Hell yes.

“I am not the knight who will save you, Paris Antoniou. I am the night in your nightmares.”

With regards to Leo, Elias and Paris the dynamic has definitely shifted, Leo being bonded to Alasdair and Vasilios, Elias now very closely intertwined with Isadora and Diomedes and Paris trying to infiltrate Thanos and Eton... a ménage of ménage. Are these threesomes instrumental in the success of the prophecy or are these just a spanner in the works? Could the Gods really have underestimated the allure of the ancients and their first-sired?

“You and your friends…you are the fire. The flood. The plague. You are the end of all ends that we are helpless to resist or fight. And it has already started. Don’t you see? You are our destruction – but for me, you will also be my salvation.”

This has been much more than a M/M / M/M/M vampire erotic romance, while those scenes will forever be burned into my memory the story itself will always hold a special place. This trilogy has been plot driven from the very start and how this has all tied in throughout all three books has been a masterclass from Ella Frank. Unique, addictive, compelling, intriguing and totally unputdownable, this series has kept me on my toes from the very start. The research and the attention to detail has been mesmerising, the visceral scene setting transporting me with every book, a world I could picture through words alone and characters that came to life with ease.

“I will always save you, Thanos. Even when it is from yourself.”

As I said once before… “Once again, I am blown away by an Ella Frank book, she has taken me on a journey through multiple genres over the years and I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing this woman cannot write. She continually shocks me with her diversity and not only the fact that she tries to be different but also that she nails it every time. Extremely talented lady and one that is on my all-time favourite authors list, if you haven’t checked her out before, please do, you are in for some amazing reads.”

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so satisfying ending unfortunately.
Reviewed in India on July 3, 2020
Im torn between thinking whether the names of these individual books in this series suit them or are completely irrelevant.
Yes this is Thanos's book... and also its not.
I understand the need for multiple povs for such a story and it really is a treat to read.
BUT, I feel that Thanos and Paris and Eton existed only to support the other pairings, and move their happily ever afters along.
I'm not just talking about their end. We didn't get enough. Not much was explored. The Paris and Thanos pairing had nothing more to explore especially after all has been revealed about the Demigod mystery. So their is that artificial feeling to them. Even though I fricking loved Paris. And the happy Thanos from book 1 was someone I was excited to read. Even in book 2, towards the end, I was looking forward but book 3, his namesake was disappointing cz i feel the author scammed him, and robbed him of his story and possible happiness. And GOD! did he deserve to be happy, him, Paris and Eton! Lord! Eton's situation just about broke my heart and I hated that so much time got wasted on elais, diomedes and Isadora. Just for the sake of an out there pairing. I could have done without them. And everyone got a little something except these 3 and they were the most innocent, the collateral damage. I feel like strangling Elias btw.
Thanos (book) felt like a massive let down when it came to the pairing and the unfairness was too much. It served every character well except for whose name it's published under.
The ending, i felt had a bunch of loopholes, things, I dont think have been explained well. So it feels like "wtf"
I would recommend the series simply because of the plot, Amazing writing and characters and something different from this author. It was actually quite engaging to read this vampire saga.
I'm just bitter for my favorite pairing to be dealt such a hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great conclusion to the series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 16, 2017
I've been waiting(not so patiently) for this one for about a year and it definitely didn't disappoint. It normally takes me about 3 days to read a book and I read this in 24 hours, once I started I couldn't put it down.

Ella Frank has created a truely captivating world of Vampires,Gods and Demigods here. The writing and story telling is suberb.I'm not even going to attempt to go into the story because I really couldn't do it justice. If you've read and enjoyed Alasdair and Isadora this is a must read.
It's so much more than just the story of Thanos as we get more of the other characters stories. It's told from multiple pov's which might not appeal to everyone but, really,it's the only way this story could be told.

The story of three, seemingly, ordinary men-Leo,Paris and Elias who find their lives turned upside down when they are drawn into a completely different world. They find themselves battling with what the Gods have planned for them and what they want. The characters are fascinating, each playing an important role in the story. My favourites are definitely Leo,Alasdair and Vasilios. The chemistry between them is seriously hot.The sex scenes are not full on explicit but,my god,the sexual tension more than makes up for it.I've read some good PNR series but this is definitely my favourite one to date.

Would I recommend this series?...Most definitely.I would say for anyone undecided try Alasdair and if you enjoy that I'm sure you'll be hooked on this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an epic conclusion to the Masters Among Monsters series!
Reviewed in Germany on January 26, 2017
    5 stars are not enough!
Thanos is nothing like Alisdair and Isadora, which were full of suspense and sexiness. You have to read these two to fully understand what is going on and how we came to this point. Thanos fate was determined by the awful attacks in Theodora. And those set into action a string of events that no one could have foreseen.

Just like in Alisdair and Isadora, we get to know the story of Thanos and his ancient Eton. It's not what I was expecting. Not to give away too much...but it's intense and heartbreaking. Their bond is different from the others and has a huge impact on the outcome for them all.
In all this, Alisdair, Vasilios & Leonidas and Isadora, Diomêdês & Elias have to find their way in their connections and as a group. But nothing comes easy when love, lust and trust are fighting to be acknowledged next to revenge and hate and distrust.

I won't say much more about the story as it would be too much of a spoiler and would ruin the reading experience. We see all the events happening from all characters point of views. You won't be confused by who's it is and it only adds to the beauty of the story and makes you fall for all the characters even more. It ramps up all the emotions you feel with them and for them.

Let me just say...Ella Frank found a perfect way to finish this series with a bang. Her writing style is amazing and has me drawn in right from the very first word. I was so looking forward to this book and she didn't disappoint. She exceeded my expectations by far.
Paranormal isn't usually my genre, but Ella Frank is one of the few I can only highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Saga. But Ella has done better
Reviewed in Canada on November 29, 2019
I really liked the saga, Ella knows how to prolong the suspens till the end. I loved the threesome Leo with the tow powerful vampires. Léo even if he was afraid he trusted his feelings and Vasilios and Alasdair even confused by the new émotions and feelings they were experiencing they liked the light Léo was bringing in their dark lives.

I also liked the two other couples but I wished there was more of Thanos and Paris. Something started between them but we are left hanging...that's not cool Ella ! .

One thing I didn't like : Lot of time is spent in the past in Thanos book, that was kind boring and really unnecessarily too long.

And then the ending, OMG the ending. At first I was really upset because that wasn't what I've expected. When I finished the last chapter I was sure there would be a book 4 but then I read the epilogue and I found myself confused, I wasn't sure what to feel about it. But after a moment I understood that there couldn't be a better ending, because the Gods being Gods, they have the ultimate power and they had to eliminate vampire race but at the same time they've seen the humanity in those vampires leaders and decided to spare their lives and offered them new ones .....with their lovers. So what's better ?!!!
