    The book came in very neatly, nicely and faster than I expected so kudos to the delivery team of Amazon for that:) I was on a excavation with Elevation Science Institute (check them out by the way for those who wanna dig real dinosaurs!) last year in Montana and the scientists there highly recommend this textbook. My advice though for those not familiar with this book unless you’re planning on reading it wholesale don’t do that!! Use it in the case where you need to research a specific group of dinosaur such as Tyrannosaurids/Tyrannosauridae or Sauropoda Dinosauria. It is meant so that way you can look up a specific dinosaur or group of dinosaur. Overall, I’m very happy this came in, this is a must have for all interested in paleontology!!

    This book is very detailed. If you've ever read a story about a particular dinosaur or event that happened during the age of the dinosaurs and wanted to know more, this is the book to read. For example, there is an entire chapter dedicated to Dinosaur Distribution that shows on several individual maps where these creatures have been found. Another chapter focuses on the ecology of the time in which they lived. It can get very detailed, naming and numbering individual skull bones or particular species.

    Distributed throughout the book are several black and white illustrations to help convey the points made.

    Keep in mind, while this is a 861 page book, 185 pages in the back are dedicated to References and Indexes.

    I was unsure about buying this book because it was published in 2007. But the professioinal reviews were so good, I thought it would be a good place to start. It is an amazing book. WARNING: there are no colorful pictures of all dinosaurs here. There are line drawings of bones, plenty of cladograms and much more.

    To read this book, you will need to be aware of the comparative anatomy basis at least. A good knowledge of the osteology is highly recommended. "The Dinosauria" is rather a heavy one both in sense of its own weight and its style and content. You can hardly carry it to lessons or anywhere else, so that this book is for home reading only. It might be better to choose e-book item.
