The Glass Knot: Contemporary Menage a Trois Romance Kindle Edition
What’s a girl to do when the guy she falls for is married to another man?
This is exactly what happened to me. Seeing Josh Kendal stroll out of the Mediterranean Sea wearing tight navy swim trunks and looking like a hot new James Bond was a truly delicious moment. Catching sight of his wedding ring was like a kick in the shin and meeting his gorgeous husband, phew, that was enough to make any girl groan at the cruel joke God was playing on her.
But all was not as it seemed, and when Josh needed a woman to sort out a ‘delicate predicament’ I was the one for the job – heck, what did I have to lose? Certainly not as much as him, literally. Trouble is, emotions always get tangled, loyalties can’t help but be divided and with a night of memories so hot they'd have the devil sweating, there was only one thing for it—it was time to get honest, fight for what I wanted despite society’s constraints and open my heart to the people it needed most.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2013I could not put this book down. First book from this author. It was a beautifully written story about Nick, Josh, & Laura. A little different take on the ménage storyline since Nick had been married to a woman previously before marrying Josh. Josh had only been with Nick but was attracted to females while never acting on those feelings. Laura only had a few male lovers & was immediately attracted to Josh. Josh & Nick were on their 10th wedding anniversary holiday at the beginning of this book & you could tell they were happily married even though they had several conversations of Josh experiencing a romantic encounter with a woman just once. Josh and Laura had a "spark" from their first meeting on the beach when he replenished her drink after Laura had noticed him walking out of the ocean from a swim. This story had relationship twists & turns between Josh & Laura, Nick & Josh, and Nick & Laura. Thoroughly enjoyed this book & the authors style of writing. And yes, I got my HEA which I adore.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2014This was a really a good story. Nick and Josh have been married for ten years and while on vacation to celebrate their anniversary Josh confuses a desire to have sex with a woman he's never been with one. Laura who is on a weekend getaway is taking picture on the beach when she sees Josh getting out of the water and she begins taking pictures of him Josh is hot and sexy and he is also wearing a wedding ring. Josh strikes up conversation with Laura she learns that he is married to a man so she figures there is no chance for them she accepts a dinner invitation with him and Nick and everything changes. Nick is willing to do anything for Nick and he knows that Josh needs this. Laura was willing to have a one night stand with sexy Nick she has been in a dry spell. What neither party excepted was that Josh wanted to do it again so when he wanted to get something for Nick's birthday he called Laura to have his picture taken. Laura realizes that Nick is not happy to see her because he knows that Josh is feeling her and he doesn't want to lose Josh and then Laura and Josh have sex in the barn that she is taking pictures of him what I like is that Josh didn't try to hide it from Nick, but he did it behind his back and Laura leaves. This story was full of emotions from all parties for Laura who is struggling since her mother died and her business is up and down and to make matter worse the apartment above hers had a flood and it ran into her apartment she has feelings for Josh, but she feels guilty for what she did with Josh. This is my first time reading this author and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2014How far would you go to give the one you love the one thing they crave? And what if it wasn't you? Do you believe that old saying "If you love something set it free . . ." -- this book managed to raise a lot of questions and push boundaries to an extreme. Fulfilling your lovers desire but opening yourself and your marriage for heartache is certainly not something just anyone could do.
This was a beautifully written story, at times so emotional and heart-wrenching. I truly enjoyed reading it. Although this was my first Lily Harlem book it will not be my last. Strong, intense, well developed characters and a storyline that drew me in from the beginning. A. Very moving tale of loving, sharing, and open both ones heart and mind to possibilities and an unexpected happiness.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2023Just ok, dragged quite a bit so I jumped ahead a good deal.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2014“Do you still think of Her?” he asked suddenly. His dark gaze captured mine, and his expression fell serious.
“Her?” I knew full well who he was talking about. Her, She, was fictitious, and stemmed from a drunken conversation we’d had several years ago.
“I’m sorry, Josh.” He covered my hand with his. “I shouldn’t have brought it up.”
“No, it’s fine.”
He rubbed his thumb over my knuckles and stared, unblinking at his caressing movements. “Seriously, forget it.”
I sucked in a deep breath. I couldn’t ignore the question, not now he’d asked it. Because the truth was I did still think of Her. In quiet moments She was conspicuous by her absence....
I had the Glass Knot by Lily Harlem on my TBR list for a while so when I saw it on sale, I picked it up. I love ménage books, with MMF relationships being my favorite to read so I was excited to read this one.
The set up for The Glass Knot is a little different than other ménage stories I have read. Nick and Josh have been happily married for ten years. Nick is a bit older and was previously married to a woman before he met and fell in love with Josh. Nick was Josh’s first love and his first sexual experience ever. He was a virgin when he met Nick and never had sex with anyone else. Although very happy in his marriage with Nick, the idea of being with a woman sexually offers a certain appeal.
… the thought of sex with a woman appealed to me, even though I loved Nick and loved having sex with him, I often imagined being inside a soft, sweet feminine body. And, like a small crack above a door frame, over the years of that door opening and shutting— each time I fantasized about being with a woman— it just got bigger. Now it was so big, that crack, it was starting to spit little chunks of plaster onto the foundations of our relationship. Nick had been right to bring it up— it was time to face facts. I wasn’t as gay as I thought I was.
While on vacation celebrating their anniversary, Josh meets Laura on the beach and invites her to dinner. Nick, realizing that Josh has questions about what sex with a woman would be like, encourages him to check that off his to do list by seducing Laura. Nick basically gives Josh a pass to have sex with Laura. One night and that’s it. Unfortunately, what seems so reasonable and harmless in theory has potentially far reaching repercussions for all involved. The Glass Knot is the story of what happens to a relationship when one night of discovery leads to deeper feelings, jealousy, and betrayal.
While reading the first half of The Glass Knot, I thought this would be a three star book for me. There wasn’t anything wrong with the book, I just didn’t enjoy the story line as much as I hoped I would. One issue may have been that I didn’t really care for Laura in the beginning of the book. I held nothing against her for her one night with Josh. Nick certainly approved Josh sleeping with her and to each their own. It was her handling of other situations that left me feeling like she was a bit of a home wrecker. When Josh invites her to come to the cottage and she realizes upon arriving that she’s not wanted there by Nick, she should have left immediately.
Maybe I should just go home. Cut my losses. Who wanted to be an unwanted guest?
But why should I?
Josh asked me to come and stay. I’d driven all that way in my clunky car, spent money on petrol and was hoping for some much-needed work. No, I was here and I was staying— at least until I saw Josh.
It was that kind of thought process that rubbed me the wrong way initially. With Josh and Nick being married, I felt like it was her responsibility to back off once she realized Nick wasn’t comfortable with her being there. The fact that Nick didn’t like her, didn’t like sharing his husband, and was worried about how she was affecting his marriage seemed very reasonable to me. I put myself in Nick’s shoes and my heart hurt for him a little.
“I’ve spent the last ten years trying to make everything perfect for Josh. He’s the love of my life, my everything. This home, supporting him through the beginning of his career, the extravagant holidays, placating his damn homophobic father, I’ve done it all to make life perfect for Josh, and then…” He gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut; his long, black lashes meshed together and the small crinkles on the outer edge of his sockets deepened. “And then you, in just one night, make everything perfect.”
Somewhere around the half-way mark though the story came together a bit for me and became more enjoyable. I think the change in dynamics that occurs between all the characters helped make the story more enjoyable for me. It also became easier to like Laura as a character and to stop feeling bad for Nick.
The Glass Knot is an erotic romance and the steam level was what I expected, HOT!
“Is he in your ___?” Josh asked.
My mouth wouldn’t form words, even one word, so I nodded and bore my hips down for more, more filling, more sensation. My need to climax had turned me hotter than the fire at my side, and I was feverish with desperation. I wanted to cry out in ecstasy but it was as though my body was not my own. Nick had claimed it, he was in control.
“Oh, yeah, take him, take him in your ___. It’s so good when he does that, isn’t it?” Josh said excitedly.
The book is listed as 270 pages but it is a quick read. I wish it would have been longer. I think the bones of the story were good but could have been improved by spending some time exploring the dynamics and feelings of the characters as the relationship develops. There were a few editing issues, missed punctuation, a few words where it looks like a letter was left off, etc. Nothing that distracted me from the story, just something I noticed here and there.
My rating is 3.50 but I am rounding up to FOUR STARS. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend to others that like to read MMF ménage story lines or erotic romances. I would definitely read this author again in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scorching hot and a fantastic read !!!
One of the most erotic, sexy, hot books I have ever read with a great story line and so very well written.
This is the story of Nick and Josh who are in a relationship and have been for 10 years. Where as Nick was once married, Josh has only ever been with Nick, and has never experienced a relationship with a woman. Although their relationship is solid and they are very much in love, Josh has a secret desire to "be" with a woman for just the one night, to feel and experience what he has never had.
When they are on holiday Josh bumps into Laura who is away for a weekend break, he takes a liking to her and with Nicks blessing gets to spend that one night he has always wanted with a woman.
But as you might expect things get complicated and this book tells their story, and what a story it is.
A wonderful romantic story with lots and lots of hot, passionate sex !!! But it is so much more than just the sex as you will see. A brilliant book to read and I can't praise it enough !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved it - so raw and heartfelt!!
This was a raw and amazing hot romance! Josh and Nick have been together for over 10 years, but while Nick had a different life and was married to a woman before they met, Josh has only ever been with Nick and wonders what he's missing. While on holiday for their 10th anniversary, Nick encourages Josh to explore those feelings and get it out of his system rather than have it hanging between them for the rest of their lives. What Nick didn't anticipate was Laura, and the connection Josh would have with her. What follows is a whirlwind of emotions and potential heartbreak as the 3 of them navigate Josh's feelings once they return home.
So well written, and amazing hot - the sex scenes that Ms Harlem writes are off the charts - you can feel the chemistry and love between those involved.
I loved the storyline, and the characters as well. The epilogue was beautiful and served to wrap things up.
This author has fast become one that I will 'one click' for any of her books - I can't help but love everything she writes! A definite recommend from me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot & sweet
It's a hot, sweet, whirlwind of a romance. I loved the characters & got attached to both men. I felt the emotions were real & realistic. Laura had her moments where I wanted to reach in & slap her & sometimes I couldn't quite understand what it was about her that the boys loved. It had scorching moments & I loved the epilogue :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspend belief for a few hours and go with the ride!
I was intrigued to read a book on this genre - because I do like them - and this one was set in the UK which is not typical.
Nick and Josh are a married couple, having been together for 10 years.
The start of the book seems them celebrating their 10 year anniversary in Costa Del Sol.
You don't get to understand the connection between the two, but Nick has had a past heterosexual relationship (he was previously married), but Josh has only ever been with Nick and never been with a woman.
Josh is curious - and meets Laura.
Laura is a photographer, who happens to be on holiday when she sees Josh and is taken by his body and good looks.
Cut a long story short, Nick consents to Josh having a one night with Laura and off they head - OK it was not actually as quick as that...I'm skipping the build up!
Josh admits to Laura that this is a one-time only event, as far as he sees it. Laura agrees.
I loved Josh. I loved the wonderment of him seeing Laura naked for the first time. However, he MUST have actually seen the female naked form before, in magazines or something, I mean come on, we're in the 21st Century! Having said that though I did find his curiousness extremely endearing.
I'm not going to give too much away, generally I did enjoy the foreplay and the sex scenes, I found them erotic.
My issues are that the book was probably too short for me to give 5 stars. I would have liked a build up to the characters a bit more, the behind the scenes, it is predominantly Laura's story, and I would have liked to have connected as much with the boys.. The sex scenes were really good, but I would have liked the angst and the scenes outside of the sex to be as good and as vivid as the sex was.
If you are new to this genre, or you are interested then you will enjoy this book, I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was hot, hot, hot!!!
When Laura meets Josh they have one night of hot passion together where he gets to lose his virginity with a woman then it's back to his loving husband the next morning. This is the second menage book I've read by Lily Harlem, the first being MFM (Desk Job) this one is MMF and it was so hot I mean really hot, the storyline and writing was excellent, I loved Nick's moodiness contrasting nicely with Josh's friendliness and together with Laura they were a great threesome. I'm quite new to this genre and I have to say I'm liking it very muchly. I highly recommend this book!!!
