The Change Up (Indianapolis Lightning Book 4) Kindle Edition
Matt
I had it all:
A great job.
Fame.
Wealth.
I didn’t have her.
She’s the one I let slip away – from my bed on vacation.
She didn’t know who I was or what my batting average was.
I got to be myself with her and now I wish I’d gotten her number.
Until fate brought her back to me.
Hannah
It was supposed to be fun.
He was hot.
I needed a break.
I got two little pink lines.
So much time had passed and I didn’t know how to find him or what to say.
But here he is.
Matt Riley - professional baseball player and my baby's daddy.
Maybe, a night of fun could turn into my forever.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2024Ryan was dead. More than three years now. Hannah had been devastated by the loss of her husband. They had been high school sweethearts. Their son, Braydon, had only been two when the accident had taken his dad; his memories were now sparse of their time together. For the last three years, to build good memories around that remembrance day, Hannah and Braydon took a short vacation. This time to some sunny shores. They were playing ball on the beach when, Matt O’Riley stepped over and offered to show Braydon some baseball tips. That moment would change all their lives. Hannah thought Ryan would be the only love of her life. Until she met Matt. One night with Matt, would lead to weeks of reliving that time over and over.
Matt is a professional baseball player who is contemplating the few years he has left to play, watching his friends settling with wives and children, which he loves. After meeting Hannah he’s sure shes’s his answer to filling his life with the kind of love he hadn’t found in his thirty-two years, until now. That night with Hannah had Matt wanting more time with both mother and son.
Pregnant…now Hannah had a good reason to do whatever she needed to find the guy who she only knew by his first name. Would he care that she was having his child, would believe her? How would this impact her son, change their lives?
She needn’t have worried. Seems Matt was searching for her too.
This is a straight up romantic tale that paces the reader through a love that began with a simple act of kindness. Characters from Matt’s world, and previous books, play supporting roles, Hannah’s sister-in-law has a role too. All the characters were warm and welcoming. While Matt and Hannah move slowly towards blending their worlds, there is no hesitation when it comes to their heated connections with enough spice to curl your toes.
I recommend stepping up to the plate and taking a gander at this enjoyable second chance tale.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2024I really did love this story but once again everything felt rushed with the skipped months and jumping around in the timeline. I wanted to slow down and enjoy how they came together. That was my only complaint, I'm glad there was no drama and that I got a glimpse of after the wedding.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024This is such a positive love story . I just loved it and I could not put it down. Great writing and can't wait to read more of your books.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2023This was an unusually sweet story. Matt started sweet and stayed that way through the whole book. He never varied in his love and attentiveness to Hannah and Brayden. In a way, it made him almost too perfect if you know what I mean. Maybe 2 dimensional. And It was odd that we never meet his parents until the epilogue. We learn very little about his past. Hannah and Brayden were the same way. Except for the death of her husband, we learn almost nothing about her past. Where are her in-laws? Parents? Other relatives? The omission was puzzling and never explained. Same thing with Courtney. Does she work?? She’s stilll living with them several years later? This was a very shallow story, with no complexity or depth of characters or plot. Nothing offensive, kinda bland and sweet. I gave it 3 stars because it’s well written and edited and the characters are all likable. Sorry to be a little harsh, but it was a little like eating cereal when there are steak dinners being written by other authors.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2022Hannah is on vacation with her son Braydon to help ease a very difficult time in their lives when she meets Matt. Not only do the sparks fly between them but his relationship with her son are special as well. They forget to exchange contact information so they both return to their lives until she realizes that he left her with more than a memory.
Matt is a professional baseball player who is enchanted by both Hannah and her son. Losing her is one of the biggest regrets in his life so when destiny brings them back together he isn’t about to make the same mistake twice.
Matt is the perfect combination of sweet and sexy while Hannah is a great mother and appreciates him for the man he is and not the career he has. This is a romantic story about love and family which is sure to touch your heart.

Hannah and her 5 yr old son, Braydon are on vacation and playing catch on the beach. For Hannah this is always a hard time of the year for her after losing her husband 3 yrs ago. When the ball comes up to Matt he goes over and offers to give Brayden some tips. Matt and Hannah end up spending the rest of their vacation together and spend a wonderful night together.
Matt O'Riley is the star first baseman for the Indianapolis Lightning team and is on vacation with several of his teammates and their families. At 32 he has been thinking about his life, how much longer he wants to play and even having a family. He enjoyed the time he spent with Hannah and Brayden but forgot to get her number or last name and is thinking about hiring a PI to find her.
Several weeks have passed and Hannah finds she is pregnant with Matt's child but doesn't know how to find him until one night at work a customer mentions the game on tv and there he is. Funny thing, her son knew all along but of course didn't say anything. Hannah has decided to go to Indianapolis and tell Matt about the baby.
How will Matt react when he hears and does he even want to be a part of their lives?

4.0 out of 5 stars Meet cute
This is such a meet cute read. No major drama and a fairly quick read. The perfect read for a filler.

1.0 out of 5 stars unreadable
Written like a kid would write, it was unreadable and basic with bad constant unneeded dialogue. I quit at 80% because I just didn’t care at all about the flat characters.
