    The Community Series Box Set, written by Tracy Tappan, contains Books 1-3 of this series. Each of these books held me captive from beginning to end. The world building is good, the character development is well done and the main plot for each book and continual series under-plot are interesting. These books have intrigue, mystery, adventure, danger, heartache, multiple blended cultures/species, forgiveness, friendships, family, hope, love and spicy scenes. There are also scenes of violence which could be triggers for some readers such as rape and severe debilitating/disfiguring punishments. I am looking forward to reading the fourth book in this series.

    I downloaded The Community Boxset just over a week ago and I simply devoured each of the three books, one after the other - I just couldn' t get enough of these thrilling and mesmerising books.

    Tracy Tappan vividly creates a world which we recognise as contemporary USA, but juxtaposed with this is a very detailed, complex and very believable paranormal world.

    The characters are so meticulously crafted that we fully understand who they are - their backgrounds, emotions and motivations. The reader is completely immersed in that world as we read, and become completely emotionally connected to the characters.

    The storyline is likewise so intricately crafted and intergrated that it's such a fascinating pleasure to read - and so compelling and addictive - I just love it when I can't guess what is going to happen next - but when it happens, it's just so clever and right.

    I'm now looking forward to savouring my next 'fix' of The Community in Book 4 of the series!

    I started out loving this series. By the end of book 2, not so much. SPOILERS AHEAD.

    Book 2 seemed to develop odd holes. Lots of time got spent on painful, but less important happenings. The good parts like working out MAJOR relationship issues were jumped over with simple tossed off sentences. WTH? As a reader, I felt cheated and a bit frustrated. And honestly, some of the things highlighted were just cruel, and didn't seem to progress the storyline. Book 3 is giving me such a headache right now that I may not finish it. Why, why, why do the characters have to suddenly speak exclusively in British slang. Book 2 contained some of this, but not distractingly so, as did Book 1. But Book 3 is a total slog! I don't know all these terms. Further, I don't want to, since again, this doesn't further the plot, nor does it better describe the characters. I haven't checked to see if there are more books in this series, but at this point, I can't be sure I want to continue anywhere. Tracy Tappan is a good writer with some unique takes on the vampire world. But these stories are losing that overall direction that includes some standard rules for her universe. This would ensure her series really stands tall amongst a lot of weaker offerings.
