The Cottage at Hope Cove: A wonderfully uplifting holiday romance Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 10,334 ratings

The summer that changes everything…

Lizzie Beaumont has the perfect life—on paper. A successful career, a wealthy fiancé, and a dream wedding just months away. But when her fiancé cancels their plans yet again to prioritize work, Lizzie makes a spontaneous decision: a solo escape to the charming seaside town of Hope Cove.

She’s looking for space to clear her head. She doesn’t expect Max.

When the handsome, easygoing guy next door asks for her help redecorating, Lizzie is all too eager to oblige. Suddenly, the quiet week she envisioned is filled with laughter, late-night talks, and a connection she never saw coming.

But reality isn’t far behind. As her return date looms, so do the questions she can’t ignore. Is her fiancé truly the man she wants to spend forever with—or just the man she agreed to marry?

One summer. One choice. And one question she never thought she’d have to ask: What if “having it all” means letting go of everything she knows?

I became enamored in this book and was carefully involved with the characters. It suddenly disappeared from my kindle and I couldn't remember the title. I looked and tried everything until one of the trials, led me back. It is frustrating at times living thru Lizzies disappointments but heart warming that they finally made it back together. Happy reading!

I loved the cleanliness of the writing and the hinted romance while still staying out of the bedroom. I like the true family and friends relationships and the give and take among Lizzy's boss and co-workers and within her family.I like the lack of sexual content which I have come across with many books which cause me to quit reading. As a young reader i enjoyed it but as a mature reader I much prefer a storyline without all the sex scenes.I will read more and hope it continues.I wish you had expanded more at the end to tell what becomes of them but it was a good read anyway.

It was an easy read and enjoyable. I didn't need to take out my mental red marker for wrong tenses, misspelled words, look back a previous paragraph because I thought a woman was talking but all of a sudden it's a "he". The characters were interesting enough, I plan to get the next book. I also liked that it wasn't all roses and smooth sliding for Elizabeth which made the story real.

This book was good. It was a little bit drawn out, and would have been much improved with both POVs.

This book is so sweet! What starts as a messed up getaway for Elizabeth, turns into a meet cute situation between two already engaged people. After a lot of twists and turns, there's still a happy ending. Very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely one of my top books for 2018
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 13, 2018
And now, as they say, for something, well not completely different, but still! We start off seeing Elizabeth Beaumont and her boyfriend Max discussing their wedding in passing as they try to find time to spend with each other in the midst of busy careers. I loved seeing Eliazabeth’s work in a magazine and could understand her passion for a job. They’re supposed to finally take a holiday together but then, again, work stops Max but he convinces her to head off on her own to the lovely Hope Cove. And it was lovely:

“The village streets were narrow and dotted with bright white cottages with neatly thatched roofs. When she reached the bay she stopped the car and gazed out. A full moon hung over the water, and the sea sparkled beautifully in its reflected glow.”

I fell in love with Hope Cove in the same way I’d enjoyed hearing of her time at the magazine, and gobbled up the fantastic setting. And then we met Max. I have to admit I wasn’t so sure about him at the start but then, on saying that it’s been some time since my stomach has leapt around solely from the mesmerizing romance in a book. I was so torn. Both of them were due to marry and yet the pull of the chemistry and connection between the two of them was so strong that I still wanted them to get together.

I loved Elizabeth becoming Lizzie and that the book didn’t always succumb to cliches and that everything was so realistic in terms of what life had in store for them and how they had to get back to ‘real life’. There were twists that were unexpected, and mix-ups and misunderstandings that were welcome and realistic. I’ll admit when we went along to Hope Cove I was afraid we’d be trading comedy for beauty, but there were still sudden out of the blue smiles, albeit more understated than Ms. Ellis’ previous books. I hearted this book so much, every single second of it and read it in one night with my eyes searching out the next words while still relishing those before. I have always been a fan of the author’s before now and know her online, but this book has moved me into Superfan mode. One of my top books this year! Cannot recommend enough.

I loved the descriptive language and the beauty of the setting. The characters and their struggles were quite familiar and believable. It felt like hanging out with close friends. Renovating cottages is always fun to read about (rather than actually do). The romance was well done, not cheesy. Great escape read, like a mini vacation in a book.
