The Earl's Temptation (Rogues and Gentlemen Book 2) Kindle Edition
ROGUES & GENTLEMEN: BOOK TWO
Alexander Sinclair, Fourth Earl of Falmouth, has a reputation for revelling in vice.
Wine, women and gambling are only one side of this dangerous man, for the Earl has a second life, leading a criminal gang, smuggling contraband between France and Cornwall.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “A fabulous historical romance […] Ms. Leech has provided readers with a well-written book with amazing characters. Alex and Celeste's story is loaded with drama, action, sizzle, humor and suspense. The Earl's Temptation is book 2 of the Rogues & Gentlemen Series but can be read as a standalone - this is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.” ~ Amazon customer review
Seeking ever more risk Alexander often leads his men on their night-time missions. One unlucky night the revenue men appear, and the smugglers sail into a violent storm in an effort to escape, but the ship and all aboard go down. Barely alive Alexander washes ashore on the coast of France.
Enter innocent beauty, Celestine Lavelle, the daughter of a noble French family forced to flee their estate during the revolution.
Having lost everything, she must work in the kitchens of a coastal brothel.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I loved the characters so much they are so complex and share a wonderful chemistry. Emma Leech created a world so passionate that evokes so much emotions you cannot put down this amazing steamy story” ~ Amazon customer review
Desperate and alone, her future is besieged by sin.
The discovery of a half-drowned English smuggler on the shore will lead her heart in directions she never dreamed of. Alexander determines to save his beguiling rescuer. He plans her future should be full of everything that is good and honourable… but will the temptation to take her as his own be too hard to resist?
The second book of the acclaimed Rogues & Gentlemen historical romance series from Emma V Leech, the multi-award-winning Amazon Top 10 romance writer. Author of fan favourites such as Flaming June and Last Man in London, both listed in the 20 'Romance Reads You Can't Miss' in the Amazon Kindle Storyteller Awards 2018.
**** Warning: Contains both a feisty heroine and a classic alpha male, meaning you may encounter some mild swearing and mildly graphic, descriptive sex scenes. ****

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019I am really surprised! Usually if the first book in the series is good, the second is a let down. But NO, it was not. In fact, it was BETTER. The intrigue, mystery, storyline, heartache....omg! I actually was brought to tears, not just eye shining tears, but tears streaming the face tears more than once. My husband was wondering what I was crying about and read the chapter, then have it back rolling his eyes. However, he hadn't been reading the book for four straight and been transported back to 1815! I even looked up where Cornwall and Roscoff were on the map. 💏
*Spoilers*
These men are men that would be abominable in today's society, but back then it was just accepted. He had to let his regular mistresses down and compensated them for their time and left them all with money to spare. Celeste was ok with his past lifestyle as long as he gave it up. No worries about the fact that their was no STD protection back then (right?!). This makes it easier to let you mind go and jump into the book. The whole Miss Morton thing could have been written better IMHO.
I love Celeste. Yes, she is young and naive and makes some snap judgements. But if she didn't, this would've been a novella 😳. I think that she portrays a more realistic young woman of any period. I NEVER read about anyone masturbating, EVER. I mean, come on. You may be a virgin, but seriously, never touching yourself? And are you always "Proper"!?!?! I am sure that there are those very strict religious girls that are, however sad, but I think they are in the minority. Plus she is smart, street smart. Alex needed that.
How Celeste ended up was fabulous. I loved how Alex found her (many tears 😭 ) and then he found out what occupation she chose. Priceless.
My only hope is that we get some follow up to this family in future books.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020Alexander Sinclair, Earl of Falmouth, is mid thirties, ex navy, world traveler, rich, womanizer, and a smuggler. He has always kept family safe, done the right thing, been in brawls, and rescues women in distress.

She has her co-worker Mimi, hide the contraband while she checks the men. Finding the three dead but shocked when she realizes the fourth, Alex, is alive but needs help. As Mimi and herself get Alex to her tiny room she takes care of him hoping in return he will take her when he leaves.
Now leaving sooner than expected, to avoid being sold to a very mean, bad person, Celeste and Alex with Mimi's help leave before the brothel wakes. Traveling by cramped mail coach out couple reach help and discover secrets and longing.
The villain that wants Celeste and her virginity find them and make waves. Alex comes to the rescue. His Aunts take Celeste and ready her for the London Season. Mayhem insues, controversy abounds, jealousy and shenanigans by family all to help two stubborn people see that Love Can Concur All.
Enjoy this wild adventure from the shores of France to the ballrooms of London and the Courts of France. You get the feeling that so is lost and the help arrived only to be thwarted for a while but in the end love concurs all is achieved and you are that if you just talk to one another life's little challenges can be dealt with.

Celeste & Alex were wonderful characters.
I am looking forward to Sebastian (aka Sin) & Georgiana's Story in the next book in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2018The Earl's Temptation is a fabulous historical romance by Emma V. Leech. Ms. Leech has provided readers with a well-written book loaded with amazing characters. Celeste was left on her own after Maggie, her mother's old servant, dies. She goes to work, cooking and cleaning in a brothel. Alex went down with his ship and Celeste found him on the shore and nursed him back to health. Alex and Celeste's story is loaded with drama, action, sizzle, humor and suspense. I enjoyed reading The Earl's Temptation and look forward to reading more from Emma V. Leech in the future. The Earl's Temptation is book 2 of the Rogues & Gentlemen Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2018Liked the story, characters and descriptions. Everything was great and charming but editing was superficial and errors quite annoying. Like, ..... come came .... This was in a same sentence. Obviously, there was some editing involved but it was a lazy and poor one. So, 3 stars it is. Other than that, I would even recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2017Enjoyable read, likable characters. It is a minor quibble, but I do wish authors (or editors) would learn the difference between into and in to. Being somewhat distractable, I pause and ponder whenever into is used for in to. The visuals are sometimes amusing but it does disrupt the flow of the text for me. Some of the untied strings relate to related stories in the series. I think I'd have liked an epilogue set 20-25 years in the future--but maybe that's a reprise of the series for all the characters?

5.0 out of 5 stars a suffered happy ending
I loved Alex character since the previous book, so I was happy to read his story, but how much he had to endure! It seemed like three different books, I couldn’t put it down, so curious about the next!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a lovely story.
I think this story was better than Lawrence and Heidi's story, but it was also interesting to see how their lives were progressing.
This is Alex's (Earl of Falmouth) and Celeste's story. Right from the beginning it could be seen that Alex had a soft spot for Celeste, what a feisty young woman she was and quite resourceful, well she had, had to be as life hadn't been easy on her. As Alex thought himself too old for her, being twice her age, he sent her to live with his two aunts, and consequently be brought out into society, but when he saw her in town being perused by other men, as they say resistance is futile, fate conspired against them initially, and once again Celeste showed how she was able to look after herself.
There wasn't an awful lot of plot to the story, but it was a sweet love story, with Alex who was once a very hard and powerful man brought to his knees by a unassuming young lady.
I would recommend this book and I look forward to the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just take my money
I swear she took a writing course from the devil himself. I could not put it down. She just builds the drama until you're screaming at the characters. Hopefully your walls are thick and neighbors are understanding because just when you think you have it figured out she takes it all away. Does she fix it by the end? Only one way to find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Narrated beautifully
Celeste Valrey, from her childhood, seemed marked by calamity: and her subsequent misfortunes, had excited in Alexander the tenderest pity, respect and admiration. She is the most extraordinary fine creature, who is invincible to a degree. Alexander rescues her from a house of ill repute and lets her take refuge in his brother's mansion. The chaste Celeste leads him on but he is very cautious owing to the difference in their ages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well-spun story
The first I've read by Emma Leech. She's quite a storyteller. This takes us from France to England and back, starting from the point where Celeste finds Alex washed ashore. A sworn bachelor at 36, Alex falls for Celeste but feels the 18-year age difference to be too great and he has lived such a rogue life that he is unworthy of such a sweet and feisty young woman. This is a central theme throughout the story. They run into some difficulties on the way to the usual happy end. Nice supporting characters.
There are some explicit sex scenes.
