The Exception: A Billionaire Romance Kindle Edition
I grew up wealthy and was given everything my parents wanted me to have. After years of being molded into the perfect daughter, I played a role. I was only what they wanted me to be. My parents controlled everything, my life, friends, career, and even the man I was supposed to marry. When I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself, the person looking back was a total stranger.
Leaving my fiancé at the altar on my wedding day was the start of a journey I embarked on in search of the person that I truly was. I would disappear, vanish, and start a new life where, little by little, I would unmold the person everybody thought I was. I would live in a man-free zone for as long as my journey took me. NO EXCEPTIONS. Until I met a man with dark hair, a business suit, smoldering eyes, and a face like a god—Drew Westbrook.
Drew
I had everything I wanted in life. Money, looks, success, and beautiful women by my side at all times. Some of these women stayed around for a while, and some left quickly. I was all for a relationship as long as she wasn’t looking for a ring or wanting to hear the words “I do.” I liked the way I lived my life, and I was content.
I had plenty of friends, loving parents, and a successful billion-dollar company were all I needed to feel complete. NO EXCEPTIONS. Until the day a brown-haired, blue-eyed beauty sat down next to me on an airplane, and suddenly, everything that mattered to me didn’t seem to matter anymore. She captivated me, and I wanted her—all of her. But her journey didn’t include me, and I felt something I’d never felt before: incomplete.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2016Jillian Bell had here life planned out for her since she was a child her parents made all her decisions right down who she was to marry. Jillian was marrying Grant and on the day of their wedding Jillian left him standing at the altar and flead to Hawaii. When on the plane she was sitting beside a very handsome man called Drew Westbrook. It was kind of faith with them even though Drew had a girlfriend Jess. Upon the arrival in Hawaii they were both staying in the same hotel. With seeing each other every day the attraction was so deep.
It was a few days left on his trip to Hawaii Drew broke up with Jess. The day before he was due to leave he slept with Jillian. The next morning he didn't want to say goodbye to her but he did and left. When Jillian was leaving she was wondering where her next destination will be so opted to go to New York to see her half sister Kirsten.
Jillian decided to stay in New York to be close to her sister so she bought her own place and little did she know she rented Drew's old place. Jillian was always wondering where Drew was from and thought about him so when walking down the street she collided with someone witch turned out to be Drew.
Her sister Kirsten was diagnosed with an inoperable brain cancer and was given six to nine months to live. Kirsten boyfriend proposed and they married in within two weeks.
While at a fundraiser Jillian bumped into her mother and father witch turned out to be a falling out for what they put Jillian through. That's when she said she knew she had a sister that she contacted her two years ago. Jillian made peace with her father and Kristen wanted to meet him. The best thing was he got to walk Kirsten down the aisle.
There is so much more I can say but I won't Sandi has outdone herself with another amazing story and it's also good to see a few old characters from previous books in it.
It is worth more than a five star rating.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2023While staring in the mirror, Jillian sees someone she doesn’t recognize, and today, her wedding day, she is going to change that. So, she takes off her ring, and lays that and her phone on a chair, and she heads to Hawaii…by herself. All she wants to do is spend some time alone to find herself. But things don’t usually go as planned.
Drew is headed to Hawaii to meet up with his girlfriend of a year. While boarding the plane, he meets his seat mate Jillian. Things for Drew are also not going to go as planned.
Such a good read. Love Drew’s character as an alpha male yet so sweet and caring. Love the pop in of other characters. I was hoping the sister was going to go to Dr. Finn but that was sad. Overall, very entertaining and sweet.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2016I don't know where to begin with this review. The Exception is utterly amazing and a great read. I fell in love with the words and Drew and Jillian's story. I think it's sweet, sexy, angsty, sad and hot! Like seriously HOT!
Jillian is a great character and her development is uplifting and encouraging. From the beginning to the end she realizes who she is and what she wants, although it does take her a while to realize it. But that's okay because every experience she's growing and I think that's what makes her so loveable.
Drew. Wow I don't know where to even start. He's sexy, strong, sexy, beautiful, sexy...I can go on, but you get the picture. He's swoonworthy and when he meets Jillian sparks FLY! They're so cute together and wow it's HOT.
The story captures your attention and keeps you engaged until the very last word. I love The Exception and can't wait to read more from Sandi Lynn.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2016Reading the description I had high hopes for this book. I was hooked from the moment I started reading and was really liking the dynamic between Jill and Drew. Then as I kept reading and the story progressed there were a lot of things that bothered me.
1) Grammatical Errors, I'm no English teacher but I noticed a few typos
2) There were just too many coincidences that I was like cool - maybe fate. But then it bordered on ridiculous. Ok bumping into someone in a small island on Hawaii, but then in New York, you run into said person in the street...ok, then you are actually renting their apartment unbeknownst to either...ok, then you run into the crazy ex at bed bath and beyond...ok, and the next day at a restaurant...ok It was just too much, a bit annoying. I know coincidences do happen, but I live in a small town and I don't run into people like that.
3) it annoyed me when Jill asked Drew how he made his fortune and he was like I invented the Cloud.... I wish the author would have been a little more creative with Drew's background and not just been like, The Cloud. its like she may as well have had Drew said, he invented the iPhone.
4) I could be crazy, but I feel like in some parts Kellan is a HE and in some its a S HE. So.... which is it.
I actually haven't finished the book and I'm at the part where the gala is coming up.
I feel that I know what's going to happen: I think Jill who is trying to remain low key and in anonymity is going to the gala with Drew ( why if she doesn't want her family- who are all rich and famous to know....) and she will not only run into the Drew's ex, Jess, but also have photographers splash her all over the papers and her family will find her, she'll be torn as to go back to her old like for take a stand...blah blah... let's see if I'm right or this book is not as predictable as I expect

3.0 out of 5 stars hmpf

5.0 out of 5 stars The Exception
Love Sandi Lynn books, this was fantastic, emotional story about commitments, control and been a trophy for your parents. Jillian was all these, she felt trapped in a world where she's got no voice.
So she runs away n meets her soul mate on the first plane out of Seattle, Drew is I genius but he's so down to earth that his stuck up girlfriend Jess wants gifts gifts n more gifts galore. Drew snaps n gets rid of her, back to her soul mate, she meets on her plane out of Seattle, stays at the very same hotel as him, bumps into him literally on the streets of New York, she's rent his apartment from him and his mom is her sister's cancer care nurse at the hospital... like Kristen said it's fate, Jillian's Drews too, just sad she lost her sister but she gained her father back, punched Grant in the nose.. now there Mr & Mrs Drew Westbrook yay... hope we here more from them soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read
I found this story to have everything you would want in a fabulous romance novel. Jill’s bravery on starting a new life, her sisters heartbreaking story brought tears. There is so much love, real life complications, true friendships and a HEA that made me read this in one afternoon. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Exception is exceptional!
What an incredible story..... From the opening chapter - the wedding scene (say no more), to the turbulent flight, to swimming with dolphins ... to the many Serendipitous meetings and frequent coincidences make this an incredibly special and genuine romance.
Jillian Bell comes from a life of privilege but has been controlled by fear family since the day she was born. She escapes incognito and travels to Hawaii to begin a journey of self discovery. On the plane she is seated next to Drew Westbrook who was only on that flight because the plane he was originally scheduled on was canceled. So fate steps in from the very beginning.
The Chemistry is off the charts from their first meeting, but this book is so much more than a sizzling romance. These characters are well developed.
Jillian our leading lady is elegant, head strong, passionate and lovely... I really enjoyed getting to know her and trusted her choices, rarely did she frustrate me as some heroines in this genre can.
Drew on the other hand was affable, real & Charming and so deserving of the love they shared, I actually loved the fact he wasn't the typical alpha male we often read in books of this genre.
The ensemble cast is fabulous, if you've read many Sandi Lynn books before like I have you will recognise some cameo's but don't fear this is a standalone. There is a sad sub plot around Jillian's sister which meant I shed some tears also. All in all I can't recommend this book enough.
Sandi Lynn is a favourite of my mine and she has certainly delivered here. The Exception is exceptional! My only criticism is the cover. It really belittles the depth of the book and cheapens what is a fabulously complete read.
