A stormy night; a hit and run and Stephen Porter unleashes a train of events that delivers him—and his family—into the clutches of a terrifying dark magician...

... whose magick works through the medium of blood - and the innocence of children.

Stealer of souls, shapeshifter devil, how can he be defeated?

The answer lies in the memories of Jonny Sorrell, a teenage boy who has no idea they form the key to ending Rook forever.

The question is, will he realise in time?

There’s a difference between magic and magick, as you’ll come to learn. One involves simple tricks and spells … the other is much more terrifying. And the characters in this twisted tale of horror and the supernatural are vulnerable enough to fall prey to someone with the right skills.

The Memories in Blood has many layers with complex, damaged protagonists coming at you from all directions until they converge to a satisfying yet unexpected ending.

There is an underlying plot that’s hard to digest and while thankfully it isn’t fully explored, it does remain a driving force that advances the story. If you read the book preview, you’ll know if this is a trigger for you.

The author does a fantastic job keeping the reader focused on the paranormal, using vivid details that activates all the senses, sufficiently raising the hair on the back of your neck.

Start with an accident, throw a little girl, and a deranged practicer of blood magick, then top it all off with a teen with powers beyond his ken and you have the recipe for an awesome psychological thriller...
I should say I basically stopped reading thriller/horror stories years ago. This was because I had read so many of them they became all too predictable...This book is not that. Every time I thought I knew what direction the author was going, the floor fell out from beneath me and I was sent in a totally different direction.
Between the story and Guy Cross's writing style, total immersion was easily achieved and maintained. So much so that my tablet almost learned how to fly when I was startled out of my "story coma" by one of my granddaughters.
I would have liked to see a little more character building. Some of the characters seemed to be a bit two-dimensional. Other than that, this story was masterfully written. Mr. Guy Cross, thank you for a most excellent adventure!

The Memories in Blood by Guy Cross caught my eye because of the description. This is my first read from this author, so I went in blind and was excited to check this one out. I’m happy to report, it was a good read!

The chapters were quite long, but the writing is great, which keeps the pacing fast. It was pretty easy for me to get into this and once I was hooked, it was hard to set it down.

The plot is rather dark, which I enjoyed. I liked the combination of thriller with a little horror. I was able to feel the fear and sadness when I was supposed to. I really enjoy Guy Cross’ writing. The imagery is fantastic and I felt myself completely absorbed when I was reading.

The Memories in Blood is a great psychological thriller. If that’s a genre you enjoy, check this one out.

There were a lot of elements to this book and it was a nice blend of horror and magical aspects of fantasy. The characters were well written and their emotions felt genuine. The central villain was horrifying and the heroes of the story were many, some in small ways and others playing a larger role. There were a few things I would have liked to see tied up a bit more cleanly. The ending was satisfying overall and the very last section was beautiful and elevated the entire book for me.

A psychological thriller, crossed with horror.Part Rosemary's Baby mixed with the Exorcist mixed with Poltergeist and a large helping of the author's imagination. I picked this book up from a free review site and I'm sure glad I did. I'll be looking for more by this author to read.

Guaranteed to drag you into the book and keep you reading long past your intended time. It's hard to say anything about the story wirhout giving anything away. so will have to just say that its a well written novel that will give you enough chills , suspense and spookiness to satisfy you without having to depend on blood, guts and gore.
