About the author
Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.
A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.
She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.
A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2023Ellis lists the tropes in the title, as well as the setting. The MCs are cute, their year challenge fun, and the crisis is two-headed but handled. Plenty of heat in the second half. Good ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2022I found The Perfect Blend to be wonderful book....very well-written with a tremendously absorbing plot!! The author is a master at character development, and this book is one of her best!! I especially loved the imagination with which this novel was written... the reader could almost imagine himself experiencing things through Justin and Morgan's eyes.
After a rather rocky start to their business competition, Justin and Morgan force themselves into a sham marriage for the sake of the ownership of their dream business, the Piping Hot coffeehouse. What they didn't count on was the marriage beginning to feel more and more like the real thing...
The secondary characters, especially Jo and Harley, are absolutely indispensable as the impetus that bring the two together...and then help the guys to understand their own growing feelings of affection for each other.
A fabulous romance!! 5 stars!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2023Tired of big city life, Justin moves to the small town of Briarton where he spent summers and holidays with his grandfather. There, Justin plans to buy the coffee shop and put his marketing and baking skills to good use. When the terms of the sale stipulate that the owner only wishes to sell to a family, Justin impulsively announces his engagement to the silver fox he's just met. They can pretend to be married for six months and then go their separate ways. The more time he spends with Morgan, however, the less Justin wants to end their temporary relationship.
After Morgan's husband passes, he knows he needs to make some changes to his life. He's enjoying his new job as manager of Piping Hot, and Morgan would like to purchase it. When Justin initially mistakes him for the owner and then impetuously involves him in a plan to buy Piping Hot, Morgan plays along. It's only for six months, right? He hadn't counted on falling for his fake husband.
Hm. The premise was a shade outside my wheelhouse. I've read fake relationships before, but usually the parties agree to it beforehand. I didn't like that the owner, Jo Ellen, was set on creating a family-owned environment. It smacked of discrimination. The story was mostly fluff, with some mildly angsty introspection thrown in, especially with Morgan dealing with his growing feelings for Justin and being afraid it made him disloyal to his late husband. We never learned much about Morgan's past life other than with his husband, while we do learn that Justin comes from a wealthy, elite family who look upon him as the black sheep since he prefers a quiet, laid-back life. The author threw in two surprise meetings: one with Justin's dastardly ex and another with his mother and sister. Neither added anything to the plot and seemed like time wasters in my opinion. Also, and I hate to say this, but once Morgan and Justin introduced sex to their "fake" relationship, there was far more sex than plot.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2021Yet again A.D Ellis has woven a tale that this reader could NOT put down! As is her custom, Ms. Ellis brings us a whole new world in the shape of a small town called Briarton, and introduces us to Justin and Morgan. When Mr. Sunshine Yet Desperate (Justin) meets Mr. Reserved And Determined, it is “the perfect blend” of sweet and salty.
As is usual with her books, the author builds a world where we all of us would like to live and introduces us to people, both main and supporting characters, with whom we would very much like to develop a friendship. This reader is very much looking forward to more from Briarton and Ms. Ellis! I can promise you that, if you are anything like me, you’ll love this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2022I found it a nice story well written, but a bit simplistic.
It is a good read but no surprises, and nothing spectacular about it.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021Ok, I admit I almost didn’t read this book- the whole fake marriage trope just isn’t my thing.
That said- this story is so sweet and authentic feeling and just downright makes you feel good while reading it.
And, it’s very well written and edited; I can’t think of a single time I was pushed out of the story-space I was in due to misspelled or misused words or wrong character names, etc. Very well done.
Definitely 5/5 stars, will read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Desperate For it To Be Real.
MM age gap, marriage of convenience, coffee shop romance, easy to read and a page-turner. A sweet and touching emotional story about loss and starting to live again. Morgan and Justin's first meeting is unconventional and so is their relationship initially. Fantastic read, thoroughly enjoyed reading it. HEA.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Tale.
A very touching story, two men trying to carry on, one after grief, the other from betrayal. I enjoyed this gentle tale, it had little angst but I did have one problem. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute story, both men are sugary sweet and I did finish it, the one flaw with this story was the very repetitive and long internal thoughts of both MC's, it was the same thing over and over and I found myself skimming though those bits. That aside, a nice read.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD STORY, SHAME ABOUT THE ...
This is an interesting story with characters who you want to succeed. A young man and an older man both want to buy a coffee shop and need to become married partners in order for the sale to go through. There are ups and downs, as you would expect, the main drive of the story being will they divorce after the year the owner stipulates they stay together as she wants family businesses in her portfolio of shops. Both have feelings for the other, but don't tell each other their feelings. Simple enough premise, engagingly told. Until suddenly this massive roadblock of sex that lands like a meteorite in the middle of the story and holds everything up. For ages. It's not even that interesting, more like stories you'd find in gents loos 20 years ago. The author, yet another straight woman writing gay fiction (why is this?) brings the whole interesting story to a grinding halt to describe every movement they make. And who cares? The same information could be told in just a few lines, without holding up the story. If you want to read about sex in great detail, there are plenty of gay novels out there whose raison d'être is to turn you on. Which is fine. But this isn't one of them. It's a great shame, as I would have given it more stars.
