What do you do when the past becomes your future?

The year is 2089, and time-travelling journalist Ashley Riveraine gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to interview her childhood hero, Alexander the Great. She expects to come out with an award-winning article, but doesn't count on Fate intervening.

Alexander mistakes Ashley for Persephone, goddess of the dead, and kidnaps her, stranding her in his own time. Being stuck 3000 years in the past with the man of her dreams wouldn't be so bad if the scientists of the Time Institute hadn't threatened to erase Ashley from existence if she changes history.

Ashley must now walk a tightrope, caught up in the cataclysmic events of the time, knowing what the future holds for the people she comes to love but powerless to do anything to influence it.

Join Ashley on her hilarious, bumpy journey into the past as she discovers where her place in history truly is . . .

This was funny, sexy, and well researched . It has Alexander the Great, all his generals, his army, his wives, and his lovers. There are his enemies, his crazy mother, and his battles. And.....one observant journalist from the future, who can never return to her own time. She falls in love with Alexander and travels with him and the army. It's isn't easy staying alive in 300 or so BC, but being married to Alexander helps, and so does the fact that everyone thinks she is a goddess. A delightful read, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. (there will be 7)

I made my way through it, happy for it to end. I won’t be continuing with the series. Writing was well done but id call it an historical romance, not much about time travel. The main female character wasn’t very interesting & I got tired of reading of her constant nose bleeds. Disappointing 2-D characters

This isn't something I'd normally read, but it proved to be very interesting and very different. A time-travelling journalist who has been intrigued with Alexander the Great and works towards being chosen to be the one to travel back through time to 'interview' him, without upsetting history or letting on who she is.
I feel as though I stepped into the ancient Greek world and could see everything that was happening to the characters. It is certainly different in that the heroine isn't the only wife to Alexander, and indeed becomes friends with one of the other wives. The relationship between Alexander and Ashley spreads across the ancient world of Greece and battles as well as political power. It brings to light many historical people mentioned in different texts (okay, so I went to Wikipedia, all right? I had to check out Alexander the Great myself!) There is also mention of his affairs with other men and women. An excellent job of twining a romance with many historical facts and figures, and also showing the difference between two different cultures and times. If you're looking for something different, factual in many areas, historical and an enthralling story, this might be right up your alley! This author definitely knows her history.

I would suggest everyone should read this. I couldn't put it down.....gives you a great idea of how the people lived at that time.....according to Jennifer Macaire.

If I could go back in time (!) I would reread Jodi Taylor and save some money: for me, this book was less about history and more about a romance that just didn't make sense.

It's a fun, quick read, but the characters and places are cardboard cutouts. No depth at all. I do applaud the author for giving it a try and hope she has learned from this experience. If it was fleshed-out, this series would be terrific!

Thoroughly recommend this book, and the other in the series. A very good read, and extremely well researched. I knew nothing about this period of history and feel that I have learnt a lot, as well it being a great story.

I enjoyed the Iskander tale. Ashley was a bit hard to get fond of but a lot of the characters were more likeable. Shame about the donkey. I probably won't read any more of this series for a while. If people enjoy this book, they'll probably want to read Jodi Taylor's time travel books.

4.0 out of 5 stars An engaging read
Reviewed in France on April 28, 2017
Historical fiction and an interest in discovering more about Alexander the Great brought me to read Ms. Macaire's first book in the Time For Alexander series. I found an engaging and light read, fun at times with some beautiful descriptive scenes of the cities, the landscape and life in the vast and growing empire of Alexander the Great in 333 - 330 BC.

While I am less a fan of time-travel and fantasy, the placement of a thoroughly modern woman from our future, as much as she could come from our present, allows an interesting aspect in the growing relationship between Alexander and the heroine, Ashley, that might not be achievable with a contemporary of Alexander's. Her choices, his intervention, her sole knowledge of her reality, and their deepening connection requires Ashley first to accept Alexander and his life exactly as they are, the ultimate requisite for all great love, and then requires truth from her and the seal of his own acceptance. How much this tells us about the historical Alexander is perhaps besides the point. What it can tell us about Eros and love between men and women approaching the Socratic ideal of love between men, lifting it from the realm of the reproductive toward the sublime love of equality is perhaps the central message of this book.

Ashley and Alexander touch in one another what each needs to move from Plato's notion of the object of love, her coldness and lack of honesty causing her to be taken for a goddess, unable to love and to desire because all of a god's desires are met, to a human woman, the subject of Alexander's love, able to risk trust. She becomes greater herself, and Alexander, in turn, can find a healing love for the injuries his mother inflicted on him as a child. The book suggests not only that Alexander is responsible for bringing the greatness of Hellenistic culture and democracy to modern times, but that his life is a step from Socratic notions of ideal love to the place of women in modern society.

A caution for anyone considering offering the books to get young adults interested in antiquity and the spread of Hellenism, definitely an adult treatment of Eros, which might not be at all displeasing for the grown-ups out there.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Having read Jodi Taylor on Persepolis it was good to see from another angle. I engaged with the characters straight away and was soon journeying with them. I'm buying the next one so it must have been good.
