The Sea Above Them: A powerful novel of disaster at sea (The Submariner Sinclair Naval Thriller Series Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 954 ratings

A powerful novel of disaster at sea! Perfect for fans of Clive Cussler, Douglas Reeman and Duncan Harding.

At sea things can go very wrong, very quickly…

Arctic Ocean

Lieutenant Peter Sinclair of the Royal Navy is serving aboard nuclear submarine HMS Mars when disaster strikes.

As the submarine
makes a secret patrol of Russian territorial waters, a violent surface collision tears it in half and sends it hurtling down into the abyss…

As it rests precariously on the edge of an underwater cliff, the future of the crew left trapped inside lies in the balance. Their rescue depends entirely on the assistance of the Russians, their confirmed enemies.

But even if the Russians do comply there are not enough escape suits to go round.

Can they escape before the oxygen runs out? Will Sinclair escape alive?

In a race against time, the superpowers must work together if they are to rescue the survivors…

THE SEA ABOVE THEM is the seventh book in the Submariner Sinclair series: rip-roaring authentic adventures following a British submarine crew.

One would have had to have been in a submarine previously to fully understand what having structural damage and on the ocean floor to really understand the drama, but this account is ever so close, it is electric.

Family histories are interesting and give the story a reality. Important to understand the charter relationships! Definitely a movie potential especially with the Soviet connection.

I've never served on a sub so I can only imagine what it might be like. The details that the author gives is incredible.

Peter Sinclair is not really the main character nor is he a sub captain but a navigator. I haven;t quite finished it yet but am disappointed that Wingate chose to use the same character names but put them in different roles. The other 6 books in the series work fairly well but should have been made into two sets with this one as a standalone with different personas

As a former US Navy sailor who made 7 patrols on USS Francis Scott Key, I was really impressed with the realism both on board the stricken submarine and ashore with the wives and friends of the crewmen. I made a number of my patrols from the tender sitting in Holy Loch at that time. Looking forward to your next submarine book. The best submarine books ever written....👩‍🍳

There have been better. Hopefully the end of Sinclair. Difficult to comprehend why he is still only a Lieutenant. Finito.

I was there in the sub’ along with everyone of those mariners. The tense detail transported me from my warm home to the cold, dark dangerous depths of the ocean. I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen to the crew. As a retired member of the Royal Navy I found the jargon spot-on. Ne of the best books I have read for many years.
