"If you're reading this, I'm almost certainly dead..."

Jacob ("Ash") Ashton's ancestors built the town of Henge. He was supposed to grow up and become a leader of the community. But he went away to college, and when he came back he just didn't fit in. His own family--what's left of it--sees him as a near-stranger.

Now everything is falling apart. Ash may have to get involved after all. But will there be a town left? Will
anything be left?

One thing he knows: it's
up to him to protect his family. No matter what.

Henge, West Virginia

Hidden in the Appalachian Mountains is a quiet little town where nothing ever happens. Until one fine day in the spring, when the world ends.

A Flash in the Sky

There is a storm...but this isn't lightning. You're not terrified yet. It's coming.

The Prison

The town's non-inmate population doubled when it went in. Nice people, these newcomers. Every one of them. Just now? Something's happening out there. Some say riots. Others say it's a medical problem. And the National Guard is on the way.

A Naked Hairy Guy

Staring through a bedroom window. At your daughter. This guy jumps onto rooftops, from the street. There are lots more like him. There are others who are worse.

Nobody Escapes

Nothing is left unchanged.

If you leave town...

You can't do that. Your family needs you. And if you tried, you'd die.

Stay where you are, if you can

But don't ever think you'll escape. Because it's inside you too. Right now.

The Secret

It's here.

David Haywood Young, also known as D H Young, has published four novels, twenty-something stories, and one full-length work of nonfiction to date (there's actually more available on his website, and even more in his Dropbox account, but he gets lazy about publishing these things).

He's also been blogging since 2009, writing code since 1981, and generally expressing opinions all over the place for far too long. On the bright side, he likes hearing other people's opinions too, especially when he disagrees but finds himself convinced against his will. It's an addiction, or nearly.

Stay tuned: lots more on the near horizon!

You know that creepy feeling you get when the light is dim outside and the world is a little, well, unworldly? When it is other? That really cool feeling you get when start a book like Heinlein's The Puppet Masters that allows you to suspend belief? This book has both. It has a little bit of apocalypse, a little bit of survival, a little bit of fairy dust, and great characters.

Wow. This book starts out with an ordinary guy on an ordinary day, and before long, you are drawn into the strange scene that is unfolding in the small town of Henge. And then, most of the conventional boundaries that we have taken as a given are gone.

I enjoyed the book. I have read other DHY novels so I was expecting a bit of a plot turn. And the author did not disappoint.

This story of survival moves along at a good pace. There's a good mix of dialog and action. It's a little bit supernatural, a little bit mystery, a little bit sci-fi, a little bit horror - but overall a good read.

Don't waste your money on this one. It starts out very promising, then quickly falls flat when the characters start turning into apes. Couldn't finish it.

Wow! This had me gripped from the start. I read this on holiday laid by the pool, in a day!! It was that good. Your transported right into a mutant war zone an it isn't clear who is on who's side. Twists, sadness an total suspense. This is a very well written gripping clever written novel.

This is a great heater for very small places. They are efficient and you can paint them to match the room it is put in.
