The Signature (A Perfect Forever Novel Book 1) Kindle Edition
Escaping an abusive ex-husband, Krystal builds a new life in the small town of Coos Bay, Oregon. To protect her daughter from her deranged ex, she constructs an identity far removed from the once glitzy existence she shared with her rock star fiancé Morgan.
Teaching music to children and living in a modest dwelling in nearly total isolation proves the perfect cover against discovery. Krystal feels safe after hiding successfully for two years. Still, she is unprepared when a new complication threatens her artfully constructed identity: the arrival of Devon Howard.
Is there more to Devon's tale about his relocation to Oregon to finish his novel? Is her mysterious and handsome neighbor really harmless? And can Krystal keep herself safe from the powerful attraction she feels for Devon?
Krystal is about to find out…

Editorial Reviews
Review
What was in her eyes was haunting and seductive; just like her music. When they gazed at you they whispered provocatively. Kiss me, I need love. Their shadow: Stay away, I hurt. They held the look of a woman who'd been loved by one man and brutalized by another. They were eyes that carried the ghosts of innocence and suffering at once, woven together in a single, glimmering brightness, always mingled, always one.

Hello! Thank you for checking out my Amazon Author Page. I like exciting heroes who keep you guessing, and intelligent, complicated heroines who make them work to get them. My stories are filled with twists you won't see coming and my Happy Endings are never cookie-cutter, but always deliciously satisfying. My series include The Parker Series; The Affair Without End Series; The Sand & Fog Series; and The Locked & Loaded Series. I'm the mother of grown daughters, a grandmother, and I live with my husband and dog, Lady. My favorite things to do are writing an angsty HEA love story, drinking coffee, eating chocolate, having a good glass of wine, traveling, watching sappy movies, and chatting with my readers.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2014What a wonderful story. Once again, Susan Ward has worked her way into my heart with her writing. This is not the type of book to rush through. I wanted to savor it and let it lead me through the gamut of emotions that it evoked.
One can’t help but be sympathetic to the plight of, Krystal Stafford. She is a smart, strong character running from an abusive past and trying to protect her daughter. She serves as an apt representation of what it’s like to be a woman on the run. Ward skillfully reveals the turmoil Krystal faces in her decision to allow herself to love, but it’s hardly a fair decision for her—who could resist the likes of Devon Howard? Beautiful, intelligent, and supremely patient—he is more than desirable.
I certainly wouldn’t call this book a light read. If you’re looking for a novel to get lost in, to feel all of the emotions that come with complicated yet passionate love, and to have your faith restored that happy endings can come after devastation, this is the book for you.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2015Signature has ever emotion than an abused female may experience. Everything from love, betrayal, mistrust, confusion, being scared, scarred, insecure but also strength and determination. Do not doubt that there is strength sometimes in running away than it is to stay. Especially when it involves protecting your child. Read this for the emotional level of what a mom will do for her child when pushed in a corner and what one man will do to protect her.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2014This is a good book as everyone is saying, however. There are errors. And one glaringly error must be fixed where the hero refers to the heroine by her real name early on and the heroine, who has been terrified that he's going to learn her true identity, does not notice and/or is not freaked out. It pulled me completely out of the story. I know it's a mistake but it needs to be fixed.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2015This book started out slow and I was not sure that I wanted to continue. I hung in there and was glad I did. This was a sweet love story with a few twists in it. I highly recommend it to everyone.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2014So, lets just say this - Susan Ward has a way with rockstar stories and the Signature does not disappoint.
A completely different type of tale than Girl on the Half Shell, the Signature is a story of betrayal and true heartache, one that brings together two of the most unlikely people - a Pullitzer press reporter and a rockstar - and weaves a web between the two that you cannot put down.
With well developed characters and a setting painted in a way that you feel you are right there - It it no surprise The Signature was an Amazon Bestseller.
Not an explicit romance, yet it still makes your heart race and beat with passion and fury.
I could not help but to fall in love with Devon, and I felt everything from empathy to anger for Krystal Stafford.
A FIVE star read reminiscent of the romance I grew up on and I want more -
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2014I wasn't sure I'd like this book about a rock star, since I'm not a huge fan of celebrity and hoopla, but I did. It's really about community, family, and courage against formidable odds. The characters are likable and believable, and they have so much to overcome. Well done.

4.0 out of 5 stars A true love story
I am a fan of Susan Ward , this book is a little different to some of her others in so much as there is very little described sexual encounters. However there is plenty of sexual tension as well as actual sex. The story is well drawn out, and rather complex but that made for an interesting read. Former popstar Krystal runs from an abusive ex who tries to kill her. She assumes a new identity but Devon a reporter tracks her down after two years . Their love story develops and makes this book so well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic, full of twists and turns
Susan Ward, I like your style. It's very readable and quickly drew me into the story.
The connection between Krystal and Devon is palpable.
I love the will-she-won't-she give in to the passion between them, the will-she-won't-she run again, the will-she-won't-she be able to deal with her past, followed by the how-the-blazes-will-they-find-each-other-again...
I loved the twist at the end, unexpected, but totally logical.
This is suitable for readers who like a romantic, powerful story, without every single explicit detail.
I will read more by this author.
