An easy-to-understand story about the purpose of sugar in nature and why too much sugar is bad for your body. The Sugar Story is a colorful and flavorful adventure that helps children understand what sugar is and learn about sugar’s job in nature. Sugar loves telling about his good friends; the fruits and vegetables of every color. His sweet flavor tells us about all the good superpowers that these fruits and vegetables have. Superpowers that help keep us healthy, happy, and strong. But what happens when sugar is taken out of fruits and vegetables and all by himself turned into candies and sweets? “My husband and I wrote The Sugar Story after our 5-year-old niece asked me why we don’t eat sugar and why sugar is bad. It’s my hope that The Sugar Story will also help you talk to the little loved ones in your life about sugar and healthy eating.” /Emelie Kamp, Nutritional Counselor and Wellness Coach Age: 3-8

I have always been a healthy eater, but recently I have been trying to cut out sugar from my diet. My sugar levels have always been elevated and I had gestational diabetes with one of my pregnancies. I started following Emelie Kamp on Instagram to get more ideas about healthy eating and cutting out sugar. (Confession: I love sweets and needed some inspiration). In her pictures, I saw she wrote a children's book about why sugar isn't good for you. It looked cute and I thought I would buy it for my three year old who loves sweets just like her mom.

We've had the book for about three weeks now and it was everything I hoped for and more! My three year old loved the colorful pictures and the rhythm of the words. The book is developmentally and cognitively appropriate for a young mind and my daughter picked up on the messages right away. She's better about eating fruits over sweets now, and even brushes her teeth longer! This book has become a bedtime staple and reinforces the good choices we are trying to make at home.

I loved this book! It made it VERY easy for my kids to understand what is going on inside their bodies and the importance of what they put into it. I've found them making healthier food decisions based on the knowledge that they are obtaining from books like this. This book also has excellent illustrations!! Very colorful, fun characters and fun to read.

Really cute book! This has really helped my 5 year old visualize what healthy whole foods are, and she has asked me to read it to her almost every day! There are also great simple recipes in the back! My 5 year old also loves to help me in the kitchen, and we loved the banana pancakes!

I bought this book to use as a teacher of 8 year olds. It does explain things well but i feel it could be developed further to explain more to kids about how to avoid added sugars in foods and drinks 😊

We still eat sugar. But it's helping us make better choices. My kids even put beets in their green smoothies now because they are convinced it makes them run faster. Very positive book with cute illustrations.

I am so thankful for this book! My little one has grown up drinking only water and milk and eating her fruits and veggies and she loves them! This is a FUN way of reiterating why we love and eat the way we do! Also, there are so many family members asking me why I don't allow my two year old to consume sugar, and this book explains it perfectly! This book is not only for kids, but helpful when explaining to sneaky grandmas why we don't eat sweets! A must have for every home library.

Very disappointed. Wish I could zero stars. My 5 year old daughter can tell you more about why sugar is bad for you then this book, which only says it can make you sick and is bad for your teeth. Waste of money.

My kids are 6 and 4 years old and received this book as a gift. They both love it! At dinner time, my youngest has, inspired by the book, started to ask "What do I become now when I eat this broccoli?". "I become stronger!". Perfect resource to teach your kids about how different vegetables and fruits are good for your body and how sugar isn't. Really cute pictures throughout the book and easy receipt to do with your kids. Highly recommend this book!

My 4 year old DD LOVES this book. It explains the pros and cons of sugar in a fun and simple manner - I had to read the story 4 times in a row when we first got it. Definitely helps with the healthy eating - or at least with cutting down on the unhealthy eating!

I was very disappointed. I thought the pictures were great but was expecting far more content. It felt like it made a good start but came to an end far too quickly. A missed opportunity to be a fab, much needed book. I had intended to buy a couple more, if I'd liked it.
