- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2001This story is one of depth. If you like "fluffy" stories without any words of wisdom within it's pages, or romances with gratuitous sex, this one isn't for you.
I found my attention captured within the first few pages. Sherry Lewis piques the interest of her reader immediately with a dilemma-how the main character Shelby will manage to save two "twin" houses, as well as her job as caretaker of one of them.
Determined to locate the journals of Agatha, the "crazy" woman who lived in one of the homes, Shelby pokes around the dilapidated mansion. While there, she finds herself overwhelmed with the heat, and thought her imagination was running overtime when she peers into the cracked mirror above an old dressing table and spies the refelction of another woman! This encounter plunges her back in time to 1871 when the houses were in their original splendor, and transforms her into Agatha herself!
Progressing through the story, Shelby discovers the true nature of Agatha's voluntary isolation and learns of treachery committed by her husband. Determined to bring Agatha and her husband reconcillation with the hope of changing the fate of the houses, Shelby shows the reader what true love means.
A Time To Dream is romance with a message; when life hands you lemons, it really is up to you to DECIDE to make lemonade.
I definitely plan to read more by Sherry Lewis!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2002"A Time to Dream" was enjoyable, and yet, somewhat aggravating. And I have a feeling that is exactly what Sherry Lewis wanted. Although I didn't get a true sense of romance, the story did throw some curve balls, when unraveling the mystery behind Agatha, along with her family and enemies; although I still had some unanswered questions by the time I finished the book. As soon as you begin this story, you know how it will end, but you still feel the need to continue, to see how it will end. If you're in the mood for a light read, then this is the book for you. I recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2020I think I bought this book because it was listed in something else, and it was in my Kindle library for some time before I began to read it out of curiosity. It didn’t take long for this story to take hold and not let me go! I’ve read other time travel fiction books in other genres that I’ve loved, but this is the first main Romance I’ve read, and it made me wish for the ending to be what I wished with all of my heart... WISH GRANTED! I suggest you follow the peaked interest to find what you may not know you want as your heart already yearns for it! ~TK~
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2013The story line was a little far fetched and more historical detail would have made the story more engrossing but it was a fairly well written book with interesting characters
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2018It was a beautiful story, I could not stop reading! I have always like time travel stories and this one was not the exception. The book did not focus much in that though, but the story was really touching.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2016Can't remember when I literally couldn't put a book down, but this that book. Wow don't hesitate if you enjoy time travel stories start this one. Leave lots if tome though.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 1999This yarn is light reading and altogether enjoyable. I picked it up and read the entire book in one day, mostly in a doctor's waiting room. The characterization is well done, and the plot (and ending) are satisfying. I recommend this to anyone who is open to an imaginative trip through time...
