About the Author

Elisa S. Amore is the author of the paranormal romance saga Touched. She wrote the first book while working at her parents' diner, dreaming up the story between one order and the next. She lives in Italy with her husband, her son, and a pug that sleeps all day. She's wild about pizza and traveling, which is a source of constant inspiration for her. She dreamed up some of the novels' love scenes while strolling along the canals in Venice and visiting the home of Romeo's Juliet in romantic Verona. Her all-time favorite writer is Shakespeare, but she also loves Nicholas Sparks. She prefers to do her writing at night, when the rest of the world is asleep and she knows the stars above are keeping her company. She's now a full-time writer of romance and young adult fiction. In her free time she likes to read, swim, walk in the woods, and daydream. She collects books and animated movies, all jealously guarded under lock and key. Her family has nicknamed her "the bookworm." After its release, the first book of her saga quickly made its way up the charts, winning over thousands of readers. Touched: The Caress of Fate is her debut novel and the first in the four-book series originally published in Italy by one of the country's leading publishing houses. The book trailer was shown in Italian movie theaters during the premiere of the film Twilight: Breaking Dawn-Part 2. Leah Janeczko (translator): Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Leah D. Janeczko has lived in Milan for half her life plus a few months. Her translations have been published by Random House, Scholastic, Hyperion, Elle, Volo, Harper Collins AudioBooks, Fazi Editore and Disney. Annie Crawford (editor): Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Annie likes to think editing is in her blood. From the age of five, she knew she wanted to be just like her grandmother, a highly-regarded literary editor. Annie has copy/line edited everything from memoirs to academic projects to novels. Fluent in Spanish and competent in Italian and French, she's created a niche for herself as a translation editor as well, and also does literary translations from Spanish to English. Annie has written two young adult books of her own plus a travel memoir.

TO DIE FOR!
4 out of 5 stars
TO DIE FOR!
To start off my review, I just want to say that I enjoyed reading this book sent to me by the author. I do not usually read paranormal/romance books, but this one blew me away in a sweep. I've been fascinated with books that centralize on angels, or in this situation--angels of Death. This translated novel revolves around a normal teenager named Gemma who suddenly encountered a mysterious presence wherein apparently, she's the only who experienced this. Ever since this happened, she's been delusional and lost in her own thoughts. After this Angel of Death, Evan, interfered a lot of times with Gemma, she felt connected with him, and is slowly falling in love with him. I definitely enjoyed reading this book. I'm even surprised that even the book being translated, it was still as amazing as it should be. This book is divided into a dual point-of-view, being Gemma's and Evan's, which gave a huge advantage to the book. It was fun reading from a human and an angel's perspective. The thing is, the attachment between the character and myself as a reader was intact. I love how the characters were written; it felt like they were the fictional characters who I really want to be with and hang out with. Actually, all the characters felt like my fictional group of friends, and it was fun hanging out with them while reading this. Not to mention how beautifully this book was written. The translator did a great job here, definitely commendable. The characters, the story and the dialogue were greatly crafted with an interesting concept that is enough to pull me into their world where angels of death exist to take away lives, and it felt like they took my life for me to live there. I really recommend this book, and you should try to start reading this book. It may not be as famous as you think, but it's a book definitely worth checking out. If you're interested with a world filled with angels and witches, this one's surely for you. A quote: "You need to learn to seize the day. Shyness is a lasso that binds the wings each of us has. Only if you untie it can you fly. Don't give up on something if you might regret it later. Sometimes all you need to do is reach out and take what's in front of you. Someone else might beat you to it and you'll miss your chance."

This is an "updated" review and be aware it *DOES contain spoilers*
I've had the opportunity to read an excerpt from the upcoming release of 'Brokenhearted' and oh God! Tears trickled down my face as I began to read it. By the time I'd finished, I had completely fallen apart. I can't imagine how horrific it would be to come face to face with the sudden loss Gemma is enduring, here in the real world. It's hard enough experiencing it with her in my alternate reality. They say some books you just read, some you enjoy, but then there are special ones that swallow you heart and soul. This saga has devoured mine.

I would LOVE to begin reading Brokenhearted and find the scenario 'Unfaithful' ended with was just another of Gemma's premonition dreams. That she, along with Ginevera, Simon AND Evan used her dream-state vision as how to take Drake down. OR...at the very least, Gemma used what was revealed to her in said (my wishful) premonition dream; to ensure she'd be thinking clearly and recognize Evan by his touch, emotion, & tender loving words, so to NOT mistakenly use the poison on him.

Now, knowing my "alternate beginning" isn't meant to be...I believe us die-hard fans & readers, along with Gemma, Ginevra, & Simon will come to learn that Gemma is a witch; HOPEFULLY, this will occur early in the soon to be released book! I'm pretty sure I've correctly figured out the witch part, and I believe Gemma's grandmother was also a witch. In "A Caress of Fate", I remember Gemma saying her grandmother always told her "The Mind is capable of great magic, but only if you look at things with the heart and not the eyes; it's impossible to see the magic in the world if you don't feel it first within". I'd say remembering that statement has served her very well thus far and I believe if Gemma concentrates and remains focused, she'll be able to bring Evan back because love can transcend space and time. Both she and Evan confessed even death will not keep them apart. If Gemma's powers aren't quite strong enough yet to do it alone, Ginevera, I have no doubt, will be there to help her see it through. At what cost for each of them though? I'm afraid to even consider. All I do know is that Evan MUST be brought back. Life without him is nothing but darkness. We need our Sun, Moon, and Stars. Oh, and lets not forget, redemption. 😂

Everyone is going to think I've gone completely mad, but I have read all installments of the "Touched Saga" thus far (English Version) SIX times. Cover to Cover, back to back....NOT kidding. When you re-read, you pick up on things you may have overlooked the first go-round. Even after 6 times I'm sure I've still missed something. I have soooo many questions I hope will be revealed at some point before this saga concludes. Such as, what happened to the real Drake? Whose side of the family (mom or dad) did the Witches bloodline come from - OR is it random like the bloodline of the Angels of Death? Is the fate of the world (according to the Masala) really dependent on Gemma's death, or did they foresee the baby she's now carrying, and it is this that spawned the Masala's insistence that her death be carried out? A baby, conceived in love, by a Witch and an Angel of Death - will it be a Hybrid so to speak? What could the destiny of this child be? To make right all the bad in the world, and grant redemption to the Angels of Death so to they too can assume their place in Heaven OR will this child bring about mass destruction?

If I didn't know better, I'd swear these books have cast a spell on me 😘. I can't seem to get past them... I keep reading and re-reading; never tiring of them. I think about the books when I'm not reading and even dream about different scenarios (future) and alternates to the ones that have already occurred.....talk about embarrassing. As much as I love books though, and I do have my favorites, I have never re-read a single one of them more than twice. Maybe its just that I see so much of myself in Gemma when I was a teen. I was a bookworm, and I too liked to escape into the woods, propped against a tree, nothing but me, a gentle breeze, and the birds....reading, I'd travel to another place in time.

I am anxiously awaiting Brokenhearted, and hoping the 4th book in this series will be released in early 2017. More than anything though, I'd absolutely love to see Mrs. Amore write more books for this series, such as back-stories on Gemma's parents & the grandmother, Ginevera, & Simon, and, of course, more on our main characters (Gemma, Evan, & their baby, Ginevera, & Simon). What happens after Expiation? Where do their adventures & struggles take them? These characters now hold a special place in my heart, and I'm no where near ready to say goodbye to them.

What an amazing writer, and a beautiful story...I absolutely fell in love with the Touched series and its characters. They, along with Mrs. Amore's wording, pulls readers into the book; bearing witness to every scene, every emotion, every struggle, every triumph.

If I had to compare this author to others, I think if Stephanie Meyer and Steven King had a combined series, this would be it. The amount of detail makes it a slow burn but it definitely gives you an emotional tie to the story. I will be reading the next installment.

While the plot and story are saccharine cliches, i still enjoyed the read mostly. my main complaint lies with the two main characters personality. Gemma oft complains to herself about her friends personalities. She ses Pet as a best friend who is secretly or not in love with her, Jeneane as a bimbo airhead, a girl she calls her fried but silently criticizes tgroughout the book fir talking non stop like a brainkess twit who uses her body to attain some sort of happiness while Gemma herself in comparison thinks she is above such drivvel and whoreish behaviir along with low self esteem vs Gemmas thiughts cabout herself as a closet beauty. i can only guess at what fine qualities Gemma beholds as the author fails to write anything that alludes to her character having any wit, unusual talents or any at all really, or any charms fidr that matter, aside for Gemma's certain ability to put down her friends in her head, to the reader, alludng that she is better than they, describing her cruddy fashion sense. Gemmas character comes across 100% of tge time as bland and self absorbed. Ive often triede to view Gemma as a character who is not very likable being the authors intent. Unfortunately I tgink this would give the authir too much credit. That being said, nibidy is particularly likeable in this book, save Ethan at times. Frankly thoufh, Ethan in the whole smacks of naivity and smothering wierdo. Ethans character makes Edward Cullen look tame in terms of bedroom stalking. Ethan admitedly couldnt help himself to let er use tge bathroom alikne - instead he becomes invisible to satisfy his uncontrolled peeping urges. Gross. Gemma was aOK with this revealation. Creepy too, or uncomfortable mostly is tge authirs uses if adjectives like 'tender' ti describe Etgans physical interaction with Gemma from day 1. I dobt know abiutt anyone else but Id rather have lustfilled and hubgry passion than recieve creepy attention from a possible intriguing new love interest. Ethan trashes is life for a girl he hardly knows and is positively boring without a detectable personality. These 'tender' touches and looks he gives her sound like sometging a married couple or even relatives might describe as interactiin between old friends after tge passiin has died off. Not romantic. at all!! Also Ethan being over 300 yrs old woyld ideally have hecka game AND higher standards fir a soul mate or even a fling tgan a biiring, uniteresting teen who thinks about how secretly beautiful she is as she thinks ill if all tge people she calls friends. Long story short, Touched is an entertainibg. albeit sappy and often shamefully cheesy nerdy (not in an ironic hipstee eay¬but in an "im embarrased to be reading tgis biik and maybe tge full series ". author musy be a hefty redhead because of the whole "im beautiful but dint know it" kind of way. You kniw what Im getting at.

ok story, unlikable heeoine, and a rimantuc live interest whi will never die, is not a vampire, who skipped flirting, dating, talking in lieu of a relatiinshiomucg lije a 70 yr ild marriage. So not sexy or romantic or anybit understandale

More than any other romantic fantasy that I have read, this one was all romance! Sometimes it was one-sided because two main characters didn’t know the other had as strong of feelings as they did for each other. And at times, that caused the story to drag a little at first. As the interaction between the two increases, the pace & storyline became faster & more intense.

It’s an interesting & unique story about Angels of Death. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

The story is so good and it made my heart stop and race a couple of times. Evan is an Angel of Death and he is send to kill Gemma, what he wasn't expecting was for him to fall in love with this girl. Evan is hidden from human eye when he's in his ethereal form but Gemma can see him and sense him whenever he is around, therefore Evan starts watching her and spending time with her to understand the strong connection they have, until they fall deeply in love with each other. Anyway, Gemma's time is almost up and Evan tries his best to stop Gemma's fate.

I really liked this, it was such a beautiful book but it was kind of dark too. Which I liked. The only thing that I didn't like was the pace. I felt that it was slow but somehow at the end I liked that because it made me connect even more with the characters and understand them.

If you like reading about angels and magic and mysteries, I recommend this to you.

I listened to audiobook of the entire series and loved it. It was full of passion, love, shock, horror and sadness - all mixed up to make an exciting book where you ... didn't see that coming.
My only disappointment was trying to get audio book from kindle and the first book only didn't have it. This made me go to audio and thank you very much, the entire series in one download

I don't even know where to begin. I'm a big fan of Cassandra Clare and have struggled to find other authors who really grip me and pull on my heart but this book did just that. Every time I picked up my kindle the rest of the world faded away. I fell deeper and deeper into the book with each page I read. I found myself taking every opportunity I could to open my kindle and continue reading, convincing myself I would only read a few more pages only to find out it was already 2am. I am a 19 year old with ME/CFS so have very restless nights and lots of pain but somehow this book allowed me to escape that. I left my world and jumped head over heals into the story even if it was only until I forced myself to back into reality. I Thank the author greatly for that.

From how the book is written I felt that I wasn't just reading about Gemma I felt like a was her. I understood her insecurities and found similarities in my own. I found the first few chapters a bit confusing and I couldn't predict Evans intentions, whether he was following Gemma to toy with her emotions or whether his feelings displayed in her dreams were true but I longed to keep on reading taking myself on a roller coaster of emotion.

When the chapters changed to Evans point of view lot's of my questions were answered. Part of me wanted to scream at him, telling him to whisk her off her feet and hold her tight but when I discovered that it was quite literally a matter of life and death and that he was the one sentenced to kill her I had tears in my eyes. The way he had to fight against his duty for his love tormented me making my heart melt. I usually don't like books written from a mans point of view but this book his changed my perception completely. Evans thoughts spoke of everything any girl longs to hear. the way he fights for Gemma even without really knowing her or why he feels so drawn to her made me understand his pain.

The fact that Angels are written in a new light really intrigued me. The fact their duty holds them captive made me want to set them free. The way their powers are able to control others and bring mundane lives to their ends in some terrifying ways rather than a peaceful passing shocked me. leaving me considering how they go through each day taking lives without being overwhelmed by guilt and regret. As Evan explained the stories of Eve and how God vowed to punish her children for eternity made me feel sorry for them, even Faust. I'm curious to know how Evan died and why he was chosen to become and Angel of death?

When it comes to peter I wished maybe he would have truly told her exactly how he feels and fought harder for her. I thought that at prom he might of made a move but the jealousy that consumed him made me understand why her kept his distance.

I loved every part of the story. The way it is beautifully described painted a clear picture in my mind leaving me dreaming about the possible outcomes. When Evan realised Gemma was missing from his home I was stunned I would have never predicted that. At multiple point of the book I was convinced she was truly going to die. I found my self panicked at the thought of her death and the pain it would cause. During the part where They where being chased my the red car my heart was in my throat, I felt the fear Gemma did and found it impossible to put the book down without knowing the outcome.
The way Evan visited Gemmas dreams warmed my heart, his inability to keep his distance and prevent her fate proves that love has no limits and will always be their to fight until the very end.

This book will always hold a special place in my heart. As someone who hope's to one day be an author this book has deeply inspired me allowing me to dream that one day I can write a book that touches the hearts of others in the way this book touched mine. I finished it not even an hour ago and I have already purchased the next. I am excited to know how long Gemma can avoid her fate and whether anyone she loves will becomes entangled with her suffering.

A enjoyed this read. It was a gentle romance and many interruptions of circumstances to get between Gemma and Evan. Book 2 is out so here we go again.
