About the authors
Robert Fear has lived in Eastbourne, on the south coast of the UK for half his life. He moved there to be with Lynn, his future wife and is still there with her over thirty years later. As cat-lovers they have taken on several rescue cats over the years and are owned by three at the moment.
For his day job Robert works as a self-employed software consultant. In his spare time he writes, edits and self-publishes books, and organises annual creative writing showcases.
Robert’s interest in travel goes back to his twenties when he spent most of his time abroad. His experiences included; a summer in Ibiza, hitch-hiking around Europe and touring the USA & Canada. His most eventful trip was in 1981 when he travelled around Asia.
Born into a religious sect known as the Exclusive Brethren, his father John took the brave step of leaving it with his young family when Robert was nine years old. Robert never saw his grandparents again but is thankful for being able to grow up outside this restrictive group. His life has been full of adventures that he would never have experienced otherwise.
Alison Ripley Cubitt started her writing career at age nine by winning first prize in a writing competition with a pony book.
Some years later, she left New Zealand with the ability to make a white sauce without a recipe, carry three plates at once, and ride a horse (though not at the same time). Dreaming of becoming a copywriter, she landed a job as the receptionist in an advertising agency in Sydney that made the TV series Mad Men’s work culture look tame.
But the lure of London proved too hard to resist, and she left Australia. Landing in London at the right time, she got her break in television production and lasted 15 years, working on Channel 4’s anarchic The Big Breakfast and at Walt Disney and the BBC.
For the past four years, she has divided her time between Melbourne, Australia and Jane Austen country, England.
An accomplished author of non-fiction works, including two travel guides and three memoirs, her literary achievements encompass works of fiction, from screenplays to short stories and thrillers.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2018Some good writing , some not so good, but stories of travel I always find time for
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2018Most of the stories were very dated, which I didn’t realize before buying the book. Some were interesting, but I could take it or leave it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2016Does exactly what it proposes to do. Love reading everyone's stories.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016A very interesting and enjoyable collection of 'shorts', some of them very short but none the less impactful for that (I particularly enjoyed Graham Higson's and Jacky Donovan's offerings), some of them rather longer and really catching the flavours of countries like India (Gareth Nixon) and Thailand (Doug Jones). There really should be more books like this, go on Mr Fear, knock out another one!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2015What an amazing collection of very individual travel stories from around the world. I really enjoyed reading about places I would still like to visit and also reading another person's experience of a place I have already visited. Something for everyone in this great compilation which makes easy reading and is very entertaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2017You can find memories of various trips and locations in this collection, along with a lot of authors. It is an interesting read and you have to give credit to the person who put this all together it is a lot of work. The stories are very short and readers can also find even shorter highlights, that are quick reminisces of places. It is hard in the short length to actually tell much about the various authors, but I think I found a few to look into further.

3.0 out of 5 stars Of Travelling The World
"Travel Stories and Highlights" has a special place on my bookshelf, because I love reading these memoirs which are written by various authors. Thus I enjoyed reading about everyone's incredible experiences and have reread some of the travel tales again. Mr. Fear undertook a great task, successfully putting this collection together. I feel however, that not all the contributors cared enough about the privilege to feature in a book such as this when it comes to polishing and editing their final manuscripts before allowing publication - a pity. If you can overlook this, I am confident that you'll still view this collection as a worthwhile read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A WIDE VARIETY
I was unsure whether I could / should review this book as I contributed a couple of stories, but then I reasoned that there were so many more to read it deserved a review. The subjects ranged from one side of the world to the other and gave a wide flavour of different genres and experiences. There were a couple I did not enjoy, I felt they did not fit in too well with the rest of the book thus the reason for only 4 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow
Wow, possibly the most boring travel book I have never read, gave up after the first few blogs, these are not writers, they are bores.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great travel stories
The travel stories were great, the travel highlights were not in each case I read it and thought where’s the rest.
