True Knight (Prosper Woods Chronicles) Kindle Edition
I think I’m gonna like it here.
My name is Vincent Lasco. I’ve searched a long time to find a new place to settle down. Because of what I am, I need to pull up stakes and start over every twenty years or so—before people realize that I don’t age anymore. Prosper Woods has everything a man like me could ever want. Though there aren’t many humans, it doesn’t really matter. I’m so old, I don’t need to eat very often and there’s no reason to expose myself to the locals whom I hope to call friends some day.
I think I’m gonna like it here.
There’s newcomers in town. Prosper Woods is a nice place as long as you’re passing through. I wonder how long these folks will stay once they find out what’s really going on here. Somehow…
I don’t think they’re gonna like it here.
(True Knight is the prequel to the Prosper Woods Chronicles and includes an excerpt from True Mate, the first book in the new series)

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2021This was an interesting story and not at all what I was expecting, but it was a so much fun! We are introduced to Romeo and Vincent as the main characters along with a whole bunch of side characters who call Prosper Woods home. It was a story where I genuinely couldn’t guess what would happen next as I was reading and that kept me hooked into the plot from the start to the end. The mystery about Romeo was one that I was trying to guess right from the start and I have to say that it went somewhere that I would NEVER have expected! Overall, this is a book that I think can get you hooked into wanting to see how the rest of the series will play out. It is a great opening way to set up the full Prosper Woods Chronicles series and I can’t wait for the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2023I enjoyed reading this book, which is the start of a series. I know that I am going to buy the next one. Rome Harmon leaves the LAPD to become the sheriff of Prosper Woods. He is looking for a fresh start and a slower pace of life. Vincent Lasco is a vampire who moves to Prosper Woods to hid the fact that he does not age. Rome has no idea that Prosper Woods is full of supernaturals. One day Rome and Vincent meet and the attraction is instantaneous. Nether men can explain it. But Vincent has to trust Rome enough to tell him is secret. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book.

I think my Eh-ness comes from the big reveal and the fact that it’s really hard to get into a book that refers to one of the characters as “stupid” throughout the entire book. Every character made a comment about poor Greg being “not that sharp” or something similar through out the entire book. That’s not cool man. Only one who had his back was his BFF. From the sheriff to the pack mates everyone used it as a description. I can’t get behind that regardless of how it’s gonna pan out. Needed some editing and a stronger plot as well. So yeah. I’m gonna go with “eh”. I’m passing on the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2021Romeo (call me Rome) has become the sheriff in a small out of the way town in California. He doesn’t expect his job to be to exciting. Little does he know.
Vincent is a century’s old vampire settling in a small town. He thinks he will live there for twenty years or so, then move on. He in the same boat as the sheriff on the exciting part.
This was a good story. As the introduction to a new series it was well done. Such secrets in this that I can’t explain so review is intentionally vague. I’ll just say I liked it, the romance is hot, and the beings in the town are pretty darn magical.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021Anyone who loves a good paranormal romance with a bit of action and mystery you will love this. There is wonderful world building with lovable and some despicable characters. It has some unique shifters, vampires, and a male witch. Has a bit of violence and angst but not alot. Prosper Woods is an odd but very interesting little town. Fantastic prequel to a wonderful new series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2022Read most of Patricia stories, at first I don’t read who wrote this book and got lost in it. I should have known it was her. Why to go girl!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 20213.5 Stars. This was certainly different (in a good way) 🙂
This is the prequel to what I think will be an interesting series. Prosper Woods (PW) looks like any small US town, except for the fact it has supernats. Then more supes come to make this their home and they may have sparked the beginnings of an interspecies conflict!
Romeo (call me Rome) and Vincent, both move to PW around the same time. When they meet, the connection between them is instantaneous and in a short time, they forge a bond. This is going to be needed to face the oncoming conflict.
There was a fair bit of 'telling' in story, but I'm hoping this just sets up the stage for the next book.
Enjoyed it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart, sexy world
There is depth and breadth wrapping a surprising paranormal but normal rural romp seemingly around the corner. Characters breathe and are fun to get to know. Can't wait to start this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Prosper woods!
This book was interesting. It is the prequel to a new series and I enjoyed a lot the format the author used to introduce us to the town and the characters. It was funny to read the letters to the editor and how they were related to the events in every chapter in a twisted way. Some surprises, sweet moments and few angst completed the story. I can't wait to read more of these characters!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great prequel for what promises to be an interesting series
This was a humourous and interesting prequel for the series. The worldbuilding has started well, but will need more depth in regards to the supernatural world, especially how they keep their secrets from humans while some of their kind flaunt what they are. I liked what we know of Rome and Vincent thus far - their chemistry was hot! I also liked that we got POV not only from Rome and Vincent but also from several other key characters which gave good background and story depth for such a short read. I look forward to seeing where the series takes us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Read it first
This is an odd little prequel. It sort of seems like it should be the start of a book, rather than a prequel at all. After all, if you don't read this prequel the cold open of the first book of the series doesn't make much sense. So why even separate this part of the story from the main series? Usually a prequel is sort of optional, a part of the story that would be intriguing to learn but not necessary. This instead feels necessary to the story and that it really should have been the opening part to the first book. It also has an odd habit of starting up potential storylines and then dropping them. This is likely because It will be pursued in the main series but again, why introduce it in the prequel? Each chapter opens with a blurb from the local paper which has weird statements that sometimes connect to the chapter ahead and sometimes just seems ridiculous. Even the characters were hard to get into, with both Vincent and Romeo being rather cocky and sure of themselves, without much to back it up. Overall it does seem to be a good way to see if the series is a good fit to read, it just feels odd that it exists outside of that reason alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
I love this book and I'm going to love the new series. I laughed at all the snarky çomplaints to the local newspaper. I had a feeling the whole town was going to be supe. I can't wait to find out what Sally is, maybe a tough rabbit! The love that's going to develop between Vincent and Romeo is going to set the sheets on fire but Romeo still doesn't know Vincent says he is his mate. I love Romeo's animal
