Twice In A Lifetime

I’ll admit it took me a bit of time to read through and that may be due to fact that I use to live near Chicago; so that brought up a lot of memories and the topic didn’t grab me like most of her books do. Curious to buy? Yes, always. Regrets? None. I love reading Ms. Lydon’s books. She builds her characters, her scenes, her stories.
Don’t want to give away any of the book and I know that writers do a lot of research of either living in the areas like New York or Illinois, Chicago specifically or not getting a complete picture. And I’m thinking the latter because it’s mentioned that this is her first attempt of writing about American landscape.
So knowing this, it seems that the book was written during or around the fall, winter time frame. (??) I’m guessing.
And anybody who has seen Chicago in the winter knows it’s not a few snowflakes and the wind is like a summer breeze.
People don’t flock to Chicago in the winter, they run from it and vacation in Florida for 3 or 5 months then go back in the summer.
It’s nice to be able to bump into your first love, lost love, or as the title of the book suggests, “twice in a lifetime” love.
But feel that every time Harriet and Sally got together it was reminiscing time.
Trying to make up for the time they lost. That time is gone. You start to second guess yourself with all the “should of’s, could of’s and what if’s.
Live in the moment and be thankful that you have a second chance with your first love.
Overall it was a good read. Ms. Lydon’s first attempt with whatever is American is just that. Anything goes nowadays. Thank you for trying to wade through all the pronouns and whatnot. Kudos to you for doing so.
