    There's a very good chance I've said this before about other instalments in this series... BUT Unchained by a Forbidden Love is up there as a real favourite of the Eternal Mates books to date.

    I felt that this book was slightly different than previous in the series - while before we had dealt with issues our main couple had we also had the Archangel storyline featuring quite heavily and a lot of action and suspense around that arc. In Fuery and Shaia book things were a lot more personal and to an extent there was a bit less focus on what was going on around them - though our hero was still carrying out his role as an assassin and we caught up with a few of our favourite characters from earlier in the series - I loved the fact that we followed Shaia and Fuery's history, heartache and battle to get back to where they once were.

    We knew from before that Fuery was pretty lost to the darkness and not far from becoming totally gone but we had no idea what had caused him to fall so far and when we did discover the cause I could completely understand and my heart broke for them both!

    We jump back and forth through four centuries and the true depth of feeling and love between our couple was palpable. Even though they had been separated for so long, their connection, chemistry and devotion was as deep as it had been when they first knew each other. I loved Shaia's strength and belief in Fuery, she wouldn't give up on him even when she was encouraged to.

    As you would expect from a Felicity Heaton read the story was action packed, had some twists and turns, battles of the heart and a shed load of heat and attraction.

    You'd possibly think that by the 15th book in a series things would maybe be getting a little slow or repetitive but I can honestly say that this series just keeps getting better and I'm looking forward to finding out what's next for the Eternal Mates

    What an amazing story! Like all of Felicity’s books in this series, it is a compelling work, flawlessly written and edited, that is driven by the characters and their intense emotions and conflicts.
    Losing his battle against the monster within, Fuery is an elf balancing on the razor’s edge between light and darkness. Shaia, his mate, flaunts the limits imposed by elven traditions to seek him and return him to the light. Will her love be enough to pull him back from the abyss? The passion and action in this book is overwhelming and the climax will find you on the edge of your seat. The novel can be read as a standalone, but is very much a part of the overarching saga that is Eternal Mates. Every fan of PNR should put this series on their favorites’ shelf. Highly recommended.

    Another good addition to the eternal mates series. Fuery’s and Shaia’s story. I have followed this series from the beginning and all the stories have never let me down. I have liked and/or loved all the stories and this is no exception. I think I would put this in the category of liked just because my connection to these characters was a little weaker for me than others in this series. You have Fuery walking a fine line and dancing with darkness and Shaia oppressed by her family and society. Both have nice stories but they seemed a little to easily beat down by circumstances. I guess in my mind they both felt like they should have caught the fire in their souls a little faster and not so easily swayed by circumstances and others. But the plot is very good you follow their evolution and have the suspense of whether their love will survive or be driven out and away and be consumed by darkness and never see the light again. Will they be strong enough to fight for each other or will the both be consumed and forever changed never to know their love again. Love can break through anything only if those are willing to let it and allow it to shine bright and embrace it with their very soul. Darkness yields to Light but Light also succumbs to Darkness the eternal nature cycle forever entangled in the dance of life. This story displays that eternal dance of life and love Definitely a good read.

Commander Fuery is an elf assassin belonging to the Guild. The wars of the past have left him engulfed in the darkness that threatens to overtake him and leaves him at the sharp edge of a distorted reality. Fuery and Shaia, his fated mate, have been lost to each other over the centuries. I definitely recommend this book and this series for PNR fans or for those who are new to the genre. If you enjoyed this book I also recommend the Guardians of Hades Series by this same author.

    The flow of the series spotlighted the primary characters and this is more a side story. Well written and sweet. We as readers have gotten a glimpse of Fuery with little tidbits about his behavior and character in previous stories however, this story compiles all those tiny blurbs from other stories into one. There are some back and forth between present and past of both Shaia and Fuery; how they met, where are they now, what were they doing to lead up to their reunion. Beautiful story in that upper Elf class has Shaia trapped in a class stereotype and when she sees her fated mate Fuery but is forbidden to see, speak or be around with a low class scout soldier. But the heart wants what the heart wants, social stature not considered. Sweet. The title perfectly described Shaia & Fuery.

    This was an incredible book!! Fuery and Shaia have gone through and suffered so much. I felt for them through out this whole book. The mother of Shaia I could have strangled myself at times! Harrt is like a brother to Fuery and it is remarkable how he has helped Fuery and what he has done to help him through all this darkness he suffers with. At times I just held my breath while reading thinking "no don't fall into it". This series is one that must be read from the beginning. Felicity has never failed to amaze me with her work and I was not disappointed with this book either. Five stars all the way!

    This is the fifteenth book in the Eternal Mates series. I loved it!

    Fuery is a fantastic character. He was introduced to the reader a lot earlier in the series, but hasn't had a chance until now to tell his story. He is an Elf and is working as an assassin alongside Harbin, who's story was told in book eight - Marked by an Assassin, and Hartt, who's story is yet to be told. Unfortunately, due to first fighting in a long war between the Elf Prince brothers, Loren and Vail, and his career as an assassin, he has become tainted by a darkness that threatens to overwhelm him and turn him into a monster with no conscience or mercy. When he learns that his fated mate whom he thought he had killed in a fit of madness is still alive, Fuery must battle the darkness within to claim her once more before its too late.

    Shaia is also a fantastic character. I loved meeting her. She is a feisty elf, but she also has a nasty habit of allowing her family to dictate her life for her. I'm not sure if this is because she is looking for their approval or just has a low self-esteem problem. Nevertheless, she met and fell in love with Fuery forty-two centuries ago, but thought he died in a battle between the two princes not long after they became mates. Now, as her family is forcing her into a relationship she doesn't want, she is given a glimmer of hope when she finds out that Fuery wasn't killed at all. Determined, Shaia embarks on a dangerous mission to win her mates heart once more.

    I absolutely love the Eternal Mates world. I started to read this book and I was quickly pulled in. It kept me riveted from beginning to end.

    The story is told through the eyes of both Shaia and Fuery, which gives the reader a chance to see their thoughts and feelings. The characters living within the Eternal Mates universe have a strength within them that helps them to survive. However, they also have flaws and fears, which makes them lifelike and relatable. The heat between the main characters blazes white hot on the pages, and left me breathless at times with their intensity.

    I did wonder if this series is becoming too formulaic for me. Don't get me wrong, I do love a good romance (paranormal or otherwise), but if this is a series with a story arc hidden amongst the pages (Archangel anyone?), this book didn't have anything to add to it. Sometimes its good to take a step out of the story arc and then bring the characters in at a later date back into the story arc. I am not sure if this is what the author is doing, but I am also a reader who would like more progression on the story arc front. The series is on book fifteen and each story in the series is a stand-alone, but since there seems to be a vague story arc, there must be a conclusion. However, it seems to me that the author is drawing it out a bit too long. I can understand why she is doing this; I too love the Eternal Mates world and don't wish it to end either, but when the story arc is dragged out in this fashion I start to loose interest in a series. This doesn't mean I won't read any more of the series, only that, in my opinion, the series is becoming a little tired. Perhaps the author should focus on one of the other book series she is working on, Guardians of Hades for instance, or something else for a bit before coming back to this series again. I would much rather have quality over quantity when it comes to a book series, especially one I love.

    Felicity Heaton has written another fast paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I love her fast paced writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is on top of my favourite author's list.

    I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of vampires, elves, werewolves, cat shifters, succubi, incubi, angels, dragons, demons and demonesses. - Lynn Worton

    I’ve loved every book in this series so far and was looking forward to this one. I wasn’t disappointed. This series, far from getting stale, just seems to be getting better and better.

    This story follows Fuery. We’ve met him before in the series. He’s an elf literally teetering on the point of no return. Tragic and brutal events in his long past have pushed him into the darkness. Barely a sliver of his true self remains. I loved Fuery. I’ve got a bit soft spot for broken heroes, and he was more broken than most. I loved the sliver of goodness in him and how hard he’d fought for so long to keep that alive. My heart broke for his struggle and I was invested in him from the start.

    It also follows Shaia. She has been mourning the death of her mate for four thousand years. She’s resigned herself eventually to marry to please her family. Then a chance encounter gives her a small amount of hope. Was she wrong all this time? She decides to throw off the restraints that’s she’s lived by her whole life and finally go in search of her happiness. I loved the change in Shaia throughout this story. She started as a bit lost and worried about displeasing her family to taking matters into her own hands and finding her backbone. She wasn’t afraid to fight for what she wanted and turned into a strong heroine that I loved.

    There was action aplenty but also emotional and passionate moments too. The plot moved along at a good pace and I was eager to keep reading. The secondary characters were also great and added their own parts to the story as well. It was good to catch up with some familiar faces from previous books and see others that I’m sure will feature more in future books.

    I enjoyed every minute of this and devoured it in one sitting. Although it is part of a series I think you could enjoy this story as a stand alone. I do recommend the rest of the series though as they are all very good books.

    I would definitely recommend this to fans of PNR romance. They don’t get much better than this in my opinion. I can’t wait to read the next book in this super addictive series.

    Elves! I love Felicity's elves and I was so happy to return to that world and learn more about them. Shaia and Fuery's story was a lovely surprise in that regard, with so much time spent in the elven realm. I was so curious as to how Fuery's story would go, whether the darkness consuming him would be something too heavy and hard-going to sustain for an entire novel without losing my interest of wearing me down. Tortured heroes walk can such a fine line between being captivating and stubbornly blockheaded when positivity comes their way but Shaia was just the right amount of light to bring balance to both Fuery and the story. It's not an easy path admittedly but it's an engaging read.

    In terms of the overall arc, there was a small mention of Archangel but it didn't suffer for not dwelling on that. Rather for me it fleshed out further the different realms and added greater colour and clarity to people and places we've encountered before. The added details of elf culture and tradition and appearances from some familiar faces along the way made this a really great addition to the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wouldn't want to include spoilers but when certain faces popped up, it made me smile a lot.

    As always, when I finish one of Felicity Heaton's books, there is always a character I'm itching to know more about. This time, it's Hartt and I'm hopeful his story will be told in the future.
