Lex Jones was born and raised in Sheffield, north England, in 1985. A keen writer from a young age, he was always fascinated with the supernatural and is obsessed with stories. He loves films, books, theatre, videogames, graphic novels, anything with a good story that captures the imagination. His books tend to have a supernatural (or at least 'unusual') undercurrent, as this moves them away from the more boring aspects of real life.
"Quirky, Intelligent, Highly readable" - John Wagner (Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, A History of Violence)
"Stories so good that they fall into the category of 'I'm going to steal this as soon as I get my time-machine working.'" - Michael Carroll (New Heroes, Judge Dredd, Jennifer Blood)
"...demonstrates an old fashioned knack for chills and thrills" - Scream Magazine
David Court is a short story author and novelist, whose works have appeared in over a dozen venues including Tales to Terrify, StarShipSofa, Strangely Funny, Fears Accomplice and The Voices Within. Whilst primarily a horror writer, he also writes science fiction, poetry and satire.
His writing style has been described as "Darkly cynical" and “Quirky and highly readable” and David can't bring himself to disagree with either of those statements.
Growing up in the UK in the eighties, David's earliest influences were the books of Stephen King and Clive Barker, and the films of John Carpenter and George Romero. The first wave of Video Nasties may also have had a profound effect on his psyche.
David works as a Software Developer and lives in Coventry with his wife, Rebel the puppy, and an ever-growing beard. David's wife once asked him if he'd write about how great she was. David replied that he would, because he specialized in short fiction. Despite that, they are still married.
Paul M. Feeney was born in Scotland in 1975 and currently lives in Aberdeen. He has been reading and watching horror, dark fantastical stories, and other speculative genre works as long as he can remember. With this deep love of story and the fantastic, it was perhaps inevitable that he would eventually turn his hand to writing his own tales, though it took him until 2011 to decide to write his first proper short story.
Since then, he has penned a number of diverse works, some of which have found homes in various small presses. His first published short (only his second written), THE WEIGHT OF THE OCEAN, was released by Phrenic Press in 2015 as a Kindle only. This was followed by a number of various other short story acceptances, through such publishers as Sirens Call Publications, April Moon Books, The Sinister Horror Company, and numerous others.
His first novella, THE LAST BUS, was released through Crowded Quarantine Publications mid-2015 (as a limited edition signed & numbered paperback; sadly, no longer in print). His second novella, KIDS, was published by Dark Minds Press mid-2016. His stories range from character and plot driven pulpy horror/SF, with the occasional dash of fantasy, to more emotive, reflective pieces. He is currently beavering away on various projects, including his first novel.
Published in early 2020 was CURSED, a Garrison Wake novelette, through Demain Publishing. This is the second Wake story to be released following THOSE WHO LIVE IN SHADOW, which appeared in the fourth issue of Occult Detective Quarterly. Wake is a shape-shifting private investigator in the city of Detroit, who often deals with cases related to the Shadow World (the collective name for all manner of supernatural and paranormal beings which exist in his world). The author has written a number of stories with this character, and intends to pursue many more, ranging from shorts to novellas and novels.
He has also begun writing quieter, emotive works (whilst still retaining genre 'flavours') using the pseudonym Paul Michaels. The first of these stories was published early 2019, in Corpus Press' In Darkness Delight: Masters of Midnight anthology. Also under this name, he contributes the occasional review for premier horror website, This is Horror.
Phil Sloman is a writer of dark psychological fiction. Phil is a three-time finalist at the British Fantasy Awards in the categories of Best Newcomer for his novella Becoming David (2017), Best Anthology for The Woods in 2020 as editor, and for Best Collection for his second collection No Happily Ever After in 2024. Phil was part of Impostor Syndrome from Dark Minds Press shortlisted for British Fantasy Award Best Anthology in 2018. Phil regularly appears on several reviewers' Best of Year lists.
Peter Germany is a writer of Science Fiction and Horror from Gravesend in the United Kingdom. He is influenced by the works of Dan Abnett, Joe Haldeman, Scott Sigler, and CL Raven.
Hailing from the South West of Scotland, Dale Robertson is a writer who lives with his partner, two children and pet dog.
Growing up, his first taste of horror came from shows such as Eerie Indiana, Goosebumps, and Are You Afraid of the Dark? The first movies he remembers were Child's Play, and Aliens, which only enhanced his fascination with all things scary. Reading wise, he was (and still is) a huge fan of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Herbert and Richard Laymon (in no particular order!).
As well as being a movie, book and video game enthusiast, he also likes to keep active by playing football, badminton and going the occasional run.
He started writing at the grand age of thirty five, and self published his debut short story, Dobson Drive, on Amazon. Currently, he has two short stories, and a novella available, although some of his other tales have also appeared in anthologies and the work of other authors. He is continuing to write and working towards getting more stories out there.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2018Some brilliant tidbits of horror in this anthology. All proceeds go to charity.....
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020You know how anthologies are, different authors, different writing styles. I didn’t expect to like EVERY story, but I almost did.
Under the Weather has a great theme: horror stories about and within various weather conditions.
I’m not one for mixing politics with horror stories, so there were a couple of stories I didn’t care for, but the rest were good, and I definitely had some favorites:
“Raindrops” by Paul Hiscock. You can see where this watery story is going, but Hiscock keeps ramping up the suspense. I couldn’t put this one down!
“Red Frost” by Lex H. Jones is creepy and spine-tingling, and the story has a unique take on a ghostly phenomenon. (Scary.)
Maybe I wasn’t supposed to laugh, but “The Beast Rain” by Nathan Robinson had me chuckling. I couldn’t help it because the story is about a storm that actually “rains cats and dogs.”
“The Snow” by Peter Germany is a creature feature at its best . . . cryptids, snow, isolation, and gore. Good read.
Overall, one of the best anthologies I’ve read in a long time. Four big stars!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2018Under the Weather is an eclectic collection of weather focused horror stories. If you think that weather cannot be the core of an impactful horror story, then you are in for a shocking surprise. The variety of writing styles and diversity of story lines leaves no love for weather patterns uncorrupted. Whether it is the rain you love, the snow, or the magic of the rainbow, reading Under the Weather will make you fear the weather forcast for weeks to come.
“The Beast Rain” by Nathan Robinson is a personal favorite for its lingering effect. It is a shocking, nightmarish tale of the unimaginable. This one was just disturbing, very well written, but disturbing. It gave me visuals that I cannot unsee.
In contrast, there is “Never Eat Yellow Snow” by Kitty Kane, a horrifying and gruesome tale with touches of dark humor. It is told in very blatant first person. Fully entertaining, as one expects from Kitty Kane.
Each of the stories has its own impact and value. The entire collection is reviewed on Bibliophilia Templum. This is a must read and a valuable addition to any horror library
