New Earth (Unlock the Unknown Book 1) Kindle Edition
In year 2045, New Earth—one of the eight extraordinary worlds in the Unison galaxy—welcomes the Earth native. After an ethereal card reading, Soren is informed about an approaching journey of four. Unknowingly, three others received the same message: princess of planet Okulis Orbitorium, Asuka Akioto, Damonico Damirror, superior and heir to the throne of planet Wretched Hollows, and lady of planet Kandy Kingdom, Mia Vossler.
When the four attend the first galaxy-wide, live-in school on New Earth, they soon realize their connection is irrevocable. They must gather the objects that hold the power to the fate of existence; but when uniting seems unbearable, they clash with the malicious Vigore Alliance—the ones stopping at nothing to raise destruction.
So, the real question is, does the true forty-five-year-old genius, reckless princess, barbaric heir, and shy outcast have what it takes to obtain the powers of each world before it’s too late?

5 Star Readers' Favorite medal winning book! Here's what the Readers' Favorite critics are saying:
"From the beginning to the end, the story grabbed hold of me and did not let it go. I connected with the story and the style of writing right from the start. The way the story was told, how it grew, how it developed, and how the authors differentiated between the people of different planets made the story more enjoyable. This is a fast-paced, witty, humorous and action packed story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely one of the best sci-fi and young adult novels I have read this year."
"This is a phenomenal book with strong, distinctive characters put in a situation that tests them in many ways. The conflict is strong and it is introduced right off the bat and in a way that grabs the attention of the reader instantly. It is interesting to watch the characters as they evolve through the conflict to a satisfying climax. I loved the great writing, the gripping plot and, above all, the wonderful characters. Unlock the Unknown: New Earth will certainly be a delightful read for fans of young adult fantasy."
"Secrets drive the plot as each of them has a secret they don't want uncovered. A lot of sympathy goes out to the group for they're all struggling in one way or another, but a possibility of friendship may be what saves them all. Sabrina Estafo and Michael Estafo bring a fun perspective and excitement to the science fiction genre, with worlds rich in details, jargon, history, and culture. Unlock the Unknown: New Earth is an exciting start to a series; clever and funny, dangerous and action-packed."
"Unlock the Unknown: New Earth is a must for lovers of science fiction and fantasy, and at the end of this book the real journey is just about to begin. From all that occurs, I can confidently say that it certainly shows a lot of promise as a series. I also liked the addition of the rather comprehensive appendix of terminology and character biographies at the end of the book. I really thought they added a little something special. A gripping read, full of surprises. I look forward to reading more work from Michael Estafo and Sabrina Estafo in the future."
"The narration is vivid and detailed and the author makes the characters tangible and the scenes come alive for readers. The journey of discovery undertaken by the four and their understanding of the planet New Earth is fascinating as the story unfolds, and it will keep readers glued to the book till the very end."

Michael Estafo and Sabrina Estafo are sibling authors who mostly like working on stories together, but also have tons of their own!
It all started with the Unlock the Unknown book series. When they were the ages of four (Sabrina) and five (Michael) the idea emerged through playtime. It wasn’t until they got older, twelve and thirteen, that they decided to take those ideas and make it something bigger, better, and obviously a bit more mature. Those ideas merged into the ten-book Unlock the Unknown series. It is their most developed series to date and will always be the closest to their hearts. However, there isn’t a single story written by the two or singularly that isn’t an unforgettable adventure filled with meaning.
The most important things to them are keeping their stories original, opening minds, allowing an escape, showing powerful themes and lessons, and tapping into all the emotions.
When their heads aren’t in the sky dreaming up stories, and they aren’t working at their family-owned restaurant, you can catch Michael doing photography, exercising, and/or expanding his knowledge through the boundless Internet or through conversation. It also isn’t rare to see him watching some funny videos on YouTube or Netflix. If Sabrina isn’t writing or developing for stories, she’s always in the kitchen—her food and wellness blog, Sabrina’s Sinless Secrets, keeps her busy creating and making new sinless and delicious recipes, taking photoshoots, and doing lots of cleaning. Health and wellness is her thing, so she enjoys exercising, clean-eating, and a good laugh! She likes to keep the rest a secret…
Michael and Sabrina are night owls, so it isn’t uncommon to see their bedroom lights on up until the morning — they can’t help when their creativity sparks!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2019*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
There is a lot happening in this book. I found it to be overwhelming at times and hard to follow. Without giving too much away, basically there are 4 youths from different planets that are going to school on New Earth. The school on New Earth has its own agenda for wanting all of the worlds (in different galaxies, solar systems, etc) to join together. The four youths are supposed to be part of a "journey of four" that is mysteriously told to them by 2 wise men. Then, each of the youths (one of whom is not a youth at all) has their own agenda or group that they are working for that needs them to infiltrate the other worlds or New Earth. And then, several of the youths cross-join other groups so it looks like they are double or even triple-crossing their original homeland or group. Basically it leads to a whole of of people joining other groups & people and then not doing anything relating to their original group or agenda. There were a lot of parts where I was completely baffled by the characters' turnaround. There were beings from Wretched Hollows that were supposed to be thought of as bad, and did something that their superior told them to do, and then all of a sudden, they decided to go back and help the non-Wretched Hollows people fix the situation. Things just weren't explained well enough to placate those issues. I wish I could go into more detail about what I mean. I think that if this book was maybe broken up into smaller bits it would be easier to digest. Maybe not have so much going on at once or split the chapters up between the different kids/worlds. The jumping around and back and forth made it extremely hard to follow.

Unlock the Unknown: New Earth is the first book in a new sci-fi/fantasy series by Michael Estafo. This is a well-written book with plenty of action and characters you will find interesting. The pace of the story flowed really well, while the plot grabbed me at the very beginning and carried me all the way through until the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2019A unique sci-fi story with a bit of a fantasy vibe to it. Soren loses everything when he somehow is changed from his actual age of 45 to a 16 year old. He’s invited, along with three others,to attend the New Earth school where they all discover they are irrevocably linked and the fate of all existence depends on them learning to work together. Plenty of action and the characters learning to somehow work together will keep you hooked.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2020I received a free ARC of this novel via Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.
At times I enjoyed this book immensely other parts drove me nuts. I enjoyed the blend of tech and magic that this author pulled off. Normally, these are in direct conflict with each other so it was nice to see this. The dialogue between the characters ALMOST had me in the mood to not finish the book. The characters were fairly well developed, so that was nice. There were times that the plot felt rather convoluted, like there was too much going on at once. Once I got towards the end it felt like the plot finally got moving and I raced through the rest.
I still have to decide if I am going to read the next book in this series. I want to know what happens but I don't want it to feel like a chore.
