I didn’t feel like the story dragged, and it was more about the family than the times. But you got a good sense of the times too, and made me feel nostalgic somehow. I almost didn’t continue with the series after the second book, but I’m glad I did.

Un-put-down-able series. Ended up binge-reading, & it does not disappoint.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Great historical research and strong characters. Generational family saga that you do not want to end.

While not up to the entertainment value of the first 2 books, it was still a satisfying read. I guess I enjoy books that discuss the interactions of the characters more than the development of a railroad. Looking forward to seeing what the next years bring about in the family's lives.
