- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2015I loved this book and I was sucked in from the start! I am from New England and I could visualize everything the author was describing from the carefree summers at the beach, fireworks, and summer crushes. I also found Hailey relatable as a New England girl who is a little stubborn, witty, and holds her own with the guys. I loved Marcus as well. He was sweet, caring, and allowed Hailey to grow up without forcing her into anything. I didn't fall for Corey as much. I felt like his relationship with Hailey was under developed due to their age gap, and he was cocky and extremely presumptuous towards the end. Either way, I felt like the author made the choice between the 2 guys difficult because they both clearly wanted what was best for Hailey no matter what the outcome. It left the ball in Hailey's court to follow her heart, and she does what she feels is right in the end. I hope the guy who isn't chosen will be in another book in the series because I was rooting for him to find love too! I couldn't put this book down because I had to find out who she was going to choose. It really lived up to its name because you have to wait until the end, and 11 years in book time, to find out who she picks. This was a great debut by this author and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2015I loved this book! Dawn's debut novel is fantastic.
I enjoy books that have a way of sucking you in. Waiting for Us was one of those reads for me. It kept me engrossed throughout the book.
She did a great job bringing us through the early years of Marcus and Hailey and how there friendship started. She also made us remember back to how it was to have a crush on your big brothers best friend, in this case Cory was the swoon worthy "untouchable older one". I found myself laughing at the irony, oh...to be young again!
I did find myself rooting for one of the guys( although I'm not going to share which one). You will need to read this and pick your own to root for. I loved the ending, although I will admit, I was surprised with it. But she will not disappoint us, we will have more from the one that was not her happily ever after.
Congrats Dawn on a wonderful debut
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2015I was very disappointed on the outcome of this story, however, I still recommend reading this book. The story was told mostly form the POV of the female protagonist, Hailey, but the latter half of the book included the male protagonists of Cory and Marcus. I loved that the story was set in Massachusetts since I currently live there, although I thought it was illegal for residents to shoot personal fireworks. Many pivotal events happened during the fireworks scenes for Hailey. The story was told in chronological order, so it was easy to follow along. I had to admire Marcus for his intelligence and willingness to do whatever it took to make Hailey happy. I felt Hailey was a selfish person and abused her "relationship" with Marcus in the end. The author did a good job of creating chemistry for Hailey and her suitors and there was enough heat to keep you interested. I was also happy that there wasn't an over abundance of drama, except for the teenage years.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2015I loved eye-rolling Hailey from the first page where we meet her at age twelve when the unforgettable Cory Marshall first leaves his mark on her heart. The author did a great job of developing Hailey from tween to woman with a voice that clearly chronicled the journey from child to adult. It's the kind of writing and storytelling that caused pangs of nostalgia at the remembrances of my own childhood friendships and early crushes. We are witness as Hailey grows into a smart, confident woman who doesn't play games with men. She's honest with herself and them. I respected the ownership she took of her own feelings and her honest dealings with the emotions and desires of the men in her life.
As a reader, I was drawn into the story, picking sides, changing sides, and wishing both sides could be chosen in some parallel universe. It was nerve-racking -- in the best way possible! In the end, I was emotionally frazzled and so glad that it was Hailey who had to choose and not me! I understood her choice but knew early on, either way, that my heart would be broken for the man not chosen. It left me in a bit of a funk for a day or two, while I sorted out my own happy ending for the man who stepped aside and put Hailey's happiness ahead of his own. I refuse to give a spoiler, but I am looking forward to his future HEA.
Thank you Ms. Stanton for a wonderful coming of age story told with honesty, humor, and above all: real heart!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2016I am ashamed to say that this book sat in my kindle for almost 2 months before I read it. When I finished it (in almost one setting) I was slapping myself in the forehead thinking why the heck did I wait so long to read this?
I loved the story. The characters were well developed and I felt like I was right there living it with them. This is love triangle that has just the right amount of suspense to keep you on your toes. Hailey has to choose between her best friend Marcus who always been there for her and the one she's been in love with forever it seems, her older brothers best friend. I love Hailey, she's so sweet and I would have a real hard choosing between Cory & Marcus, I actually kept going back and forth between which one I wanted her to be with.
This book made me laugh, cry and gasp at times. This is the authors debut novel and it doesn't read like a debut, it's well written with attention to detail. I love the steam amount in this book, it seemed just right.
I don't believe in spoilers so if you want to know who Hailey pics then read the book. It's a great read with a sweet very realistic story. What are you waiting for, 1-click it now.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2016I enjoyed this book. There were a few times I was conflicted about how I wanted it to go. I'm still not sure I agree with the way it did but you know I am just the reader ;) It was a good storyline with interesting characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab debut
Fantastic for a debut novel!!! It was fab... not your usual fall in love with your brothers best friend who is 7 years your senior!!! I loved the way this book was set. In part one you have the POV of Hailey who had loved and lusted after Cory since she was 12 years old. You also meet Marcus, Haileys best friend forever!!! Yes it was a love triangle but what a triangle it was. She goes through angst of growing up and the usual trials and tribulations of life and love and loss. Then you get to part two and you are blown away as you have Haileys POV as well as Marcus and Cory!!!! Oh my... Well I could spoil things here but you have to read this book to find out what happens and why they happen!!!
As a reader I have to say this book kept me entertained and this is how a book should be!!!
Well done Dawn on a fab Debut and I can't wait for book 2!!!!
Five happy stars!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars A frustrating read!!
I'm still not sure about this book! Hailey is not sure who she wants, she has been crushing on Cory since she was a teenager, then it's her friend, then she throws someone else into the mix.. it's so frustrating!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The wait is over.
Another triangle story. Hailey & Marcus are BFs mainly seeing each other during the holidays. He is in love with her but she has a crush on Cory, her older brothers friend.
There's a lot going on esp when she interns at her fathers law firm, where Cory is her mentor. At this time she is living with Marcus. It does get complicated & as with every triangle someone loses out.
It depends on whose team you're on as to whether you're happy with the ending but I won't tell you who wins.
