Waking Bel (Lords of Discord Book 3) Kindle Edition
It's for science!
Beltran Varik believes in science. It holds all the answers he seeks.
Except for one.
How in the world did he end up falling in love with two werewolves?
Of course, there was no way science could account for the beauty, warmth, and mind-blowing sexiness of Wyatt and River.
The two shifters are outcasts from their own kind and must seek the protection of a vampire.
Bel might take them in out of a need to keep them safe, but his feelings for them grow into something so much deeper.
Unfortunately, Bel might have to choose between his wolves and his family as a fight brews with the local werewolf pack and the Variks face a darker threat from the Ministry.
Waking Bel is the third book in the Lords of Discord paranormal romance series. This book is an MMM and contains vampires, werewolves, nosy brothers, music, science!, Ozzie the raven, so many first times, hope, dirty talk, and a love that will never end.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2020I just love this series!
Of all the Varick's, Bel was the most sweet and quiet. Boy, get him riled up and he is a force to be reckoned with. I love everything about this family, as well as the "mates" that are coming into the family fold. Ethan? What can I say, he makes me laugh all the time. How Marcus puts up with his mouth I will never know....oh wait, Marcus knows how to handle his Ethan.....LOL
Bel, River and Wyatt just fit - this story was written so well you feel as if you are part of the relationship and it's a roller coaster. Their interactions with each other was beautiful to read. And a drunk Bel was comedic genius. The plot on this story was spot on and I just love all the secondary characters. I can't wait until we get to Winters and find out what he's been up to. Who knew he is so snarky! I love this author's writing style so this series is an absolute joy to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2020But, I’m gonna call it. I think this is quite possibly the best book so far.at the very least my favorite. I know we still have Winter’s book but ok, hear me out. First of all, M/M/M, written by these ladies is just freaking HOT. Bel, my sweet Bel. He tugged at my heart in the first book after Julianna’s attack. The love he has for his twin is fierce. Then he meets Wyatt and River and you can just see him opening up and becoming this incredible kick a** character. He’s strong, he’s determined, oh he’s so brave. Then you have Wyatt and River, who have suffered so much, yet they still open up to Bel. They take care of him, they make him laugh. River is freaking adorable, I could just eat him. To see him get so close with Winter too was just super sweet. Wyatt, the protector. Oh man, when he went to battle, WOW. Freaking fierce. I was seriously giggling and all giddy when he challenged Albert. Then the tears came and ugh, again, sweetest Bel.
I think this book finally, fully captured those fantastic moments when the Varik’s are just brothers. The bickering, the back and forth, making fun of each other, all while Aiden tries to hold it together and not laugh. THIS, this is the book that finally cemented them as a solid family for me. I don’t normally gush about books, I mean, read my other reviews and you’ll see, so when I tell you that you MUST read this book? Yeah, it’s that good.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2023I’ve been binging this series for the last few days and every book just gets better and better. Bel is hilarious and sweet, Wyatt is strong and caring, and river is a delight from every angle. This series is 100% worth a read if you want drama, love, siblings bickering, and silly martyrish vampires.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2023Ugh. River, Wyatt, & Bel are just so GOOD together! I love how Bel slips into Wyatt & River’s hearts. I love how he completes them. It’s just so GOOD!
I skipped rereading the other books in the series to reread this one, but I think it would be worth going back & starting with Marcus. I was inspired to reread after binging the Necromancer in a Gold Vest series. It just reminded me of how titillating I found Waking Bel to be. No regrets! Worth the time! On to the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2023Oh my goodness this threesome was THE BEST! You felt the love between all 3 so beautifully. Sometimes when I read MMM novels I don’t usually feel that significant connection between all 3. I felt that in aces as I read Waking Bel. I can feel the story is growing and it’s so exciting! Can’t wait to read Winter’s story! He’s so mysterious!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2023Each book keeps getting better than the last. I've cried over Marcus and Rafe in their journey but I was totally enraptured in reading the story of Bel. I enjoy the love and connection all the siblings have with each other but to add the two wolves to it and their story was a whole different level. The pain of not being accepted but then finally finding your family is a heartbreaking tale, and yet sadly so realistic for some people today. If anyone deserved a happy ending it was the wolves and I'm so happy they were able to find a way to join their two worlds.
Plus to see the twins reactions as the other one finds their mate was cute to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020We finally get sweet Bel’s story! And I am in LOVE!
We find out werewolves are real, and our favorite scientist manages to find not one, but two for himself.
River and Wyatt were lost and broken, but also strong and full of love, exactly what Bel needed, but he was exactly what they needed too.
The chemistry and love in off the charts. And the adventure and action is A+ as it always is with Jocelynn Drake.
We continue to get wrapped around the main plot, and wow wow wow, Winter’s book is going to be fire! I fell in love with Winter and Rafe even more, and our papa vamp definitely needs a book of his own after Winter’s.
Absolute love this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is my favourite out of the series!
Let's start by saying Bel -or Beltran, his full name- is absolutely adorable and just needs a hug. He's the quietest out of the Varik clan, with a head for science and an affinity with animals rather than people. Not to mention he has a pet raven called Oz, which he uses to contact his brother's, or just irritate the hell out of his twin brother Rafe.
I like how each book starts off with the relevant brother's experience of being turned, as well as each book containing all of the Varik brother's in, as well as the foster father, Aidan in too. Each story also explores the brother's complicated relationships with their mother, Julianna, who was turned into a vampire but it affected her and sadly, made her unstable and volatile.
Bel's ability is one of my favourites, with Winter's being a close second; as Bel, can talk to animals, he can also ask them to do his bidding, if he so chooses, which comes in handy on many an occasion of mortal peril. In this book, Bel and the clan come to realise that werewolves are actually real, and two of them have turned up on Bel's doorstep seeking shelter, so being the generally sweet guy he is, he invites them in and helps them out.
River and Wyatt are the two werewolves in question, who are lovers, and have been booted out of their packs due to their sexuality. I like how they have contrasting personalities, with River being the bouncy, energetic one, and Wyatt being the strong, commanding one, however both are equally fierce in their desire to protect Bel, as well as in their growing attraction to him. I especially love how their polyamorous relationship is handled within this story and the Varik's acceptance of it.
It's a fab continuation of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden love
Fantastic continuation to this story! In the fight in the last book two wolves fought against the Variks under control of another vampire, something they had never seen before. It turns out those two wolves were more than just wolves, and they keep stalking Bel's property. River and Wyatt are actually werewolves, something that vampires have long been told don't exist because the two races once fought a great war. But with River and Wyatt seeking shelter at Bel's house the two races are soon colliding again.
This story touched on what it is to be gay when your family, even your whole community, doesn't support it. For werewolves being 'useful' is paramount, and a gay wolf is seen as useless because they cannot bring pups to the pack. Wyatt and River are true mates but when they came out to their pack as such they were exiled and any other pack they came across threatened them with death. Forced to live on the run they ended up with vampires when they showed they could be useful to a clan as wolf protectors. But that protection came with strings as well and never any peace. Everything in their lives was contingent on their usefulness rather than the people that they were. When they meet Bel it is the first time someone worries about them as people rather than what they can do. Bel wants to find them a place to be safe and live free, even as his own life shows to be fraught with danger. The stark difference from how they have been treated the rest of their lives starts something more for this trio, even though it threatens the Variks further.
This book really progressed the series as it is clear that things are coming to a head not just for the Variks but for vampires as a whole. In the wake of the destruction of the clans in the previous book the Council has only become more suspicious. Not to mention that more Council members have been murdered, bringing more suspicion upon the Variks. The clan needs to secure more allies and make a plan because it is clear that war is coming to them no matter what and it could have consequences for the future of all vampires, it just their family.
A truly fantastic story, can't wait to read the next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It.
I’ve read the first three in the series back to back now. I’m certainly not stopping. These books have everything I love in a series and individual book, good storyline, great characters, lots of action and heart. I highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want more Variks
I very much enjoyed reading Bel’s story. The Variks’ books make me laugh and cry and sometimes both at the same time. I’m looking forward to Winter’s book and I’m already disappointed that there are only him and Aiden who haven’t found their happily ever after yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aww this is so sweet
This is my favourite, you know what your getting with a Jocelynn Drake book, sweetness, mush, a bit of outside drama and plenty of story! I will admit to being wary of reading this as it mmm and i usually do not like them, but this proved me wrong. I tend to find mmm dissolves in to erotica and thats just not my taste in books, each to their own though if thats what you like, i prefer story heavy books. This certainly didnt go that way, there was a few key bedroom scenes when the storyline needed them and that was it. Good progression in overall storyline arc, looking forward to Winters book now
