Where I Belong (That Night Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 301 ratings

THE GIRL I LOVED IS THE WOMAN I CAN'T HAVE It was simple: Pay the debt and I stay out of jail. Pay the debt and I stay alive. But I sacrificed it all for Beth. Punishment is coming, but I can take it - as long as Beth is safe. Away from her mother and everyone else who would hurt her. I gave it all up for two days with her. And it was worth it. She always was. THE SECRETS WE KEEP ARE WHAT TEARS US APART We're supposed to be done. Over. Tommy goes his way, I go mine. Cue the heartbreaking music. It's time for me to finally forget him, but I don't think I can. And when the danger closes in on Tommy, we're on the run again. From Bates. From my mother. From our past. And there are no safe places to hide. Except one. And it's the place that will hurt Tommy the most. But maybe it's time for me to face my past. My demons. Maybe it's time for me to save Tommy for once.

I loved this book. This is more or less a conclusion to Beth and Tommy's story, but not the end of the teens who lived in St. Jude's Home for Court-Placed Juveniles. We remember how Lost Without You ended? Like, edge-of-your-seat CLIFFHANGER? Where I Belong recaps that ending a little at the beginning of this story and expands on Beth and Tommy's scenes. I was a ball of anxiety reading this, but soon, the story moves on and we get to see what comes next for these two characters (and Pest, Tommy's adorable dog).

In this book, the characters are more isolated, the scenes mostly taking place in one setting, as Molly O'Keefe novels usually do. The story never feels stagnant, but it is full of character and heart. Beth and Tommy are on the run again, and with Beth's mom broadcasting her face all over the news and painting Tommy as the evil kidnapper, the two are on the run from more than just Bates. Just long enough to keep their heads down for a while. Tommy's plan is to sacrifice himself to Bates if it means keeping Beth safe and never handing her back to her mother. Beth's plan is for the two of them to hide out at a place she considers home and just wait everything out. This is the point where I really should have seen this coming, but I didn't. I was gasping loudly at the book when I realized where the story was going, because all the angst and feels exploded out when I realized where Beth was taking Tommy.

Beth has a secret. Well, more than one secret, but all the St. Jude's teens have their secrets. It's just that this is by far the one thing that could break the fragile relationship between these two characters. It just broke my heart in a million different ways. The way the secret got revealed, the way they broke apart. I ship these two so much and the characters are so precious and deserve a good life without a debt to a mob boss or a mother who wants to control her kid (among other things). Beth and Tommy's sex scene after Tommy finds out the secret, though? It was both hot and devastating. But what absolutely crushed me in this book was Pest. Pest survives this book (YAY), but when Tommy says that he's glad he's found someone to take care of his dog when he's not able to is the single most heart-wrenching moment I've ever read.

Beth's mother has really done a number on her and Beth's journey to accept herself and that she's enough? It's a powerful message and I loved seeing what Beth chooses to do in this book. Tommy is still as precious as ever in this story and I wonder...is Tommy the threshold to hold all men? Because he is perfect. Okay, so he may be a little rash and run recklessly into danger. But it's all for a good cause, since all he ever wanted was to see Beth safe and happy.

I can't wait for the next series, duet, whatever the next book will be, because it's going to be about Simon and I already know his story is going to destroy me. He made the debt with Bates, same as Tommy and Carissa. Simon's a prize-winning journalist and has made a name for himself. What could Bates possibly want with him? Further questions that have yet to be answered...what terrible thing happened to Rosa that's only been alluded to? Why are Carissa and Bates working together? Are they a thing? Does Sammy (Bates' guy who attacked Tommy at the end of the last book) still hold a grudge? I just have all the questions, you guys.

What isn't a question going forth, however, is that Beth and Tommy are in a good place. Maybe with all the Bates stuff still going on their ending can be seen as more as a HFN than a HEA? I loved these two books, Lost Without You and Where I Belong. It's definitely one of my most favorite m/f romances I've ever read, and I can't wait to see what Molly O'Keefe has in store for us next!!

I was so happy to see this book was out after finishing book 1.... Tommy and Beth needed some type of closure I their lives..... their stories were just to unfair not to give them something positive on their lives! I was pleased with the outcome of their story -- the direction the author took these characters....

This book is the follow up to Lost Without You and the conclusion of Tommy and Beth’s story. The last book left them in quite a mess, on the run from both Beth’s mother and Bates’ henchmen. Not only do we have the angsty, complex relationship between Tommy and Beth but we have an intense, fast paced story fraught with secrets, deception, twists and turns. There was so much against them, and so many mistakes they made with each other, I seriously wondered if things would work out for Tommy and Beth.

Tommy, especially, owned a chunk of my heart, falling back on his lifelong habit of taking blame on himself in an effort to make someone else’s life easier, yet numbly existing and simply going through the motions in his own life. He learned a long time ago what a dangerous thing hope could be for someone like him. So when he dares to hope for a life with Beth, when he says, “It felt like everything I ever wanted and was too scared to ask for in this world. And it was mine now,” I fell the rest of the way in love with him. The path of their journey certainly isn’t an easy one, but Beth and Tommy do get their happily ever after. Don’t miss this exciting, powerful, touching conclusion to their story!

I couldn't wait to read the rat of Tommy and
Beth's story. I am so disappointed in not only this book but this author. With all the fluff I skipped through, these two books could have been one. It's such a shame when authors make you pay so much money for 2 or more books in a "series" that could have been easily 1 book. My go to author list is dwindling...

I absolutely loved this book. This book completes the story of Tommy MacNeill and Beth Renshaw from Lost Without You. Again, I stayed on edge from page one until the end. I was emotionally involved with both characters, I even cried. What will happen to Tommy? He didn't pay his debt, he wasn't able to say no to Beth. She finds them a safe place to stay. I love when she says," I will love you for the rest of my life." But what will happen if she tells about the secret of Peter's? My heart broke with hers, is he leaving her? Can he forgive her? My heart completely melts as he says," I want to be with you. You are where I belong." I loved getting both pov, a happy ever after and no cliffhanger. I do like that we get a hint that there's a continuation with this story. There's more orphans from "St. Joke's", and I can't wait to hear everyone's story. I love the writing style of Molly O'Keefe and I'm so excited for the next book.

This book picked up where Lost Without You left off. We actually get to see some of the end of that book from Tommy's eyes. I was on pins and needles, holding my breath while reading this book! I devoured it and didn't want it to be over. Things aren't looking so great for Tommy and Beth. And there are still secrets between them that can change the game. OH MY!
I loved the push/pull between Tommy and Beth and even when they were unsure of the way they were feeling, they couldn't deny it. Their chemistry was SUPER HOT! They were learning things about themselves. Tommy had always closed himself off to others, but he couldn't be like that with Beth. She was different and she meant something to him. Beth had been hiding for years and Tommy helped her let go. Their journey was sad, bittersweet and oh-so-sweet! Molly writes angst and deep emotions so well and this is a book that will stay with the reader long after The End. And speaking of ending, this one is a doozy! I HIGHLY recommend this read and you must read Lost Without You before reading Where I Belong!

Just finished and words fail me. I devoured Lost Without You (book 1) and couldn't wait for the conclusion of Beth and Tommy’s story, Molly you did not disappoint.
I fell in love with Beth and Tommy’s characters in book 1 and I was so happy they didn't change in Where I Belong.
I loved all the twists and turns, all the feels and even all the pain as it all made up the story of their love.
Im going to drive myself crazy waiting for Simons book.

Love Tommy and Beth. You definitely need to read book 1 first. Glad they were able to come full circle and exorcise their demons. Now on to book 3...
