Where in Hard-Boiled City is Carmella Sanfrancisco?: Classen's Tale (Tales of Gentalia Book 10) [Print Replica] Kindle Edition
An ancient game forgotten.
A noir detective hard-boiled.
Industry Giant, Tornado Tech, released the first online video game over thirty years ago and the black and white edutainment relic has been collecting dust ever since.
But hidden within the crude polygons and musty word puzzles of Hard-Boiled City is one of the greatest mysteries in all of gaming history: Carmella Sanfrancisco. The iconic, orange-wearing master criminal is thought to be a myth by everyone except for one person, detective Classen Fortinbras. He knows in his soul that she exists.
As the final shutdown of the Hard-Boiled server approaches, an important question remains unanswered: Where in Hard-Boiled City is Carmella Sanfrancisco? More important to Classen is his own personal question: “Who is Carmella Sanfrancisco?”
Warning: Contains… Absolutely no sexual situations or banging?
While part of a series, this novelette can be read as a standalone story!

About the author

CB Archer is a novelist who lives happily in the sunny Okanagan Valley, nestled in Canada (America’s Hat).
He maintains a regular secretive existence in the real world, and at night writes filthy filthy things that would make even the most experienced librarian change to Blush Shade #6 (The highest of the shades).
CB Archer is responsible for the Annals of Gentalia brand, and the C.ollege of U.nited M.onsters brand, and would like to apologize for nothing!

- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2017Ahahahaha! I bet you thought this book would be hard-core x-rated, didn't you? Well, you'd be wrong! In an unexpected plot twist, this latest installment of the Tales of Gentalia is completely sex-free!
Followers of the series have come to expect a certain something from it, and that certain something is scenes that will make you go to Blush Shade 7, if not 8, 9, or 10. "Carmella Sanfrancisco," however, is for the most part SFW. Instead of hard-core monster-banging, there is a lot of hard-boiled detective talk, as if Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett had produced a rather goofy, gaming-obsessed love-child.
I am not a gamer, but one of the very few computer games that I DID play was "Carmen Sandiego," which was also one of the few TV shows that I watched, so this story was a fun blast from the past for me, and got the theme music running through my head. There are plenty of red herrings and real clues scattered through the story, and those who have read the main books will recognize the beginnings of one of the sweeter love connections.
"Carmella Sanfrancisco" works as a standalone, and is a good introduction to the series for those who might be afraid of its more *ahem* mature themes, but it also ties in with the other books and stories. A lot of fun, as usual, and a story that--for once--fans can show their friends and families.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2017So you all know what to expect by now, right? These Tales take our beloved video games and parody them with wanton sexual abandon. But you know by now that expecting anything will get you nowhere. This tale is no exception to the every tale is an exception rule. Hard-boiled City is a tough town, full of crimes and crafts, but you'll not find any sexy adventures here. Just one damn fine recipe for world famous caramels, a cross stitch pattern, and a gumshoe in search of the elusive orange wearing title character. But more importantly, you get the most adorable cameo appearance from the Annals series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2017Yet another fun adventure in the Tor Tech Games universe! This one is a SFW mystery, riffing on the old Carmen Sandiego games (which I played a bunch growing up). There are a bunch of clues, cameos, and red herrings! It will keep you guessing until the very end...
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2017Fans of the series will by now be expecting wall-to-wall hardcore monster banging, but the protagonist of this tale is an elderly gentleman so there's none of that funny business! Instead we get an atmospheric comedy noir with a mystery that will keep you guessing. I had a number of fan theories,, all of which I ended up abandoning!
All in all, another great book in the series. As funny as the monster banging is, I did enjoy this one and it's unique style a great deal.
Pro-tip. Read it twice so you can spot the clues once you've seen Fliint solve the mystery
