Wild Warrior (The Weavers Circle Book 2) Kindle Edition
Baer Manning
What happens when Baer spills his big secret about monsters and magic to a total stranger?
Chaos.
In Baer’s defense, he really thought Wiley was a lost brother.
This case of mistaken identity forces the cute artist to stay at the house for his own protection while they search for a way to take down a witch.
Wiley Stuart
He never should have gotten in Baer’s Jeep.
But in Wiley’s defense, Baer is really sexy. And funny. And so sweet. And did he mention sexy?
All his life he’d dreamed of superheroes and a life of action. He just never expected to find himself swept up into a world filled with monsters and goddesses.
Wiley will do anything to stay with this magical band of brothers and help them with their fight. He just wished he could be Baer’s soul mate.
Wild Warrior is the second book in the Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, running through Savannah, secrets, swimming pool fun, shapeshifting, an elephant, sexy times, lots of snakes, insecurity, three crazy old ladies, and magic!

About the authors
New York Times Bestselling author Jocelynn Drake loves a good story, whether she is reading it or writing one of her own. Over the years, her stories have allowed her to explore space, talk to dragons, dodge bullets with assassins, hang with vampires, and fall in love again and again.
This former Kentucky girl has moved up, down, and across the U.S. with her husband. Recently, they’ve settled near the Rockies.
When she is not hammering away at her keyboard or curled up with a book, she can be found walking her dog Ace, or playing video games. She loves Bruce Wayne, Ezio Auditore, travel, tattoos, explosions, and fast cars.
She is the author of the urban fantasy series: The Dark Days series and the Asylum Tales. She has recently completed a gay romantic suspense series called The Exit Strategy about two assassins falling in love and trying to create a life together, as well as a MM paranormal romance series featuring a family of vampires.
She has co-authored with Rinda Elliot the following series: Unbreakable Bonds, Ward Security, Pineapple Grove, and the Weavers Circle. She has also co-authored with AJ Sherwood the Scales 'N Spells dragon series. She can be found at JocelynnDrake.com.
I write MM, MF, and MMF romances. Love is love! Some are paranormal, contemporary, and space opera. While all of my books are romantic and sexy, most lean toward erotic. But three of these books-Foretold, Forecast, and Foresworn are MF Young Adult novels. A complete trilogy that I'm rereleasing after getting my rights back from Harlequin Teen. Dweller on the Threshold is sexy, but not erotic. I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2022I kept book 1 and book 2 of this series in a stack of books, not thinking they'd be very good, continually reading authors I was more familiar with.
When I finally began reading them, I realized that I really liked the story and the characters, and so had to continue with book 3.
All were quite good, the story enticing, the many exciting parts page turning, and many times i found myself unable to stop reading.
The authors are pretty good at creating well rounded characters that often engage the reader.
The descriptions about the romance and relationships were pretty good, although sometimes a bit too much. A reader can only take so many; I love you. I love you too. I love you. I love you too. I mean come on!
And... I'm not sure what it is with a lot of authors, especially female ones... They must think that the only thing all guys care about is sex. True, we tend to think about it often, but it's not like we are obsessed and controlled by it like some female authors seem to depict or think.
I mean, I'm not a prude or anything, and I don't mind reading about the specifics of love making between two characters in the middle of reading about their blossoming relationship and romance. But, too often I have to wade though pages and pages and sometimes chapters and chapters of play by play graphic descriptions of sex act after sex act. Oh My God... If I wanted to read porn I'd buy some other kind of book!!!!
But I digress... There are not too many sex scenes in books 1 to 3 so it didn't actually ruin the story, and most of the time it kind of enhanced reading about a blooming relationship.
I had previously thought that book 3 was the end of the series. But it wasn't until I was halfway through with book 3 that I realized the story could not end as there was too much of the story left to tell. So, I got what I thought was book 4. It however, turned out to be book 5, and I then had to buy book 4 in order to continue the story. And, by the time book 4 came in the mail, I'd already finished book 3 many days previous. So was excited to continue the story.
UNFORTUNATELY... I struggled to read and even complete book 4 of this series.
Like i said before, I'm not a prude. However, I am pretty traditional minded when it comes to sex and relationships. And although I wasn't bothered in the least by the racial mix of the relationships of the main characters. But, I do believe in Monogamy, because, I don't believe any other kind of permanent relationship actually will work.
So, I was bothered by the 3-way poly... whatever... relationship that became the main focus of the story of book 4. I read gay paranormal romance cause it's nice to briefly escape to another reality sometimes, and reading about 2 gay guys falling in love and being happy. I guess in a society that is still not very accepting and often degrading and oppressive against homosexuality, it's a also a nice escape from the reality of living as part of a minority that is still often viewed as repugnant.
Anyway... this 3 way relationship became the main ingredient of the story in this entire book! That, and the MANY chapters of play by play descriptive and graphic sex scenes... ruined this entire book for me.
I mean... how many times can you read chapter after chapter of sex scenes again and agin and again? There were a few exciting scenes in the book, where the story went back to the actual Weavers Circle story... but not enough to make it worth the time i had to spend wallowing through the story of this 3 way relationship and the constant sex scenes. I was extremely disappointed! Book 4 could have been half the size and been a much better story for it.
I haven't read all of book 5 yet, but so far it is very good and promises to be much better than book 4, thank goodness... and is the conclusion of the Weavers Circle story. Although because of how awful book 4 was, I'm not sure I'll read another book by these authors again.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2020How many s£x scenes are too many in a book? I frontline this one had WAY more than the first one, not necessarily in a way that made me giddy. In fact, I kinda skimmed through them for the most part. I think a part of that is that the dialogue during them consisted of two phrases 99% of the time, it was either "you feel so good" or "you are so hot" . It definitely reached a yeah ok level.
As far as the story goes, I like that in spite of the fact that there are so many secondary characters, and that since they all live together, they are always there, you still feel like this was Baer and Wiley's book. I liked that they were cute together. However, it's said that Wiley suffers from OCD, yet really the only sign of that is he counts stairs. I just felt like it was more a tendency than actual OCD. Action scenes were great, character growth is going pretty well. Secondary characters are very intriguing - I mean, hello Grey ! It's a pretty good series so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020I AM SO OBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES! One of the best fantasy story I’ve read so far!
We finally get our resident Animal Weaver, Baker’s story! Baer is such a wild crazy sweet soul, I adore him! And then we get Wiley, our cute nerdy insecure soul mate, there’s no doubt in my mind there couldn’t possibly be someone more perfect for Bear. How their relationship progresses is beautiful and heartfelt!
The plot keeps on thickening! And oh god, fall needs to get here ASAP! Blind Warrior will be next level!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020Another fantastic addition to the Weaver's Circle collection.
Baer and Wiley were absolutely adorable and very fun to read. I thought Baer in book one was full of fun an life, but Wily has him beat. What a breath of fresh air. The family is growing and it's going to be just amazing when they all get their soul mates and weave their magic. I also loved the new weaver that joined the party and can't wait to see what comes next.
A wonderful series by the amazing Drake and Elliott! This book, as usual with these two authors, was a delightful read and just made me want more - quickly.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2020The characters in these stories are so lovable. The authors have created a wholly unique universe in these pages. I can't wait to see what happens next. The only criticism I have is that the angst between the MCs feels contrived. The solution seems obvious from the start & there isn't any reason put forth which would explain why the MCs take so long to see it. It reads as an obvious plot device.
Definitely worth reading, though. There are so many fun aspects to the story & the series plot arc moves right along.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2023*some spoilers in this review*
One of my favourite series is the Unbreakable Bonds series by these authors. So, I was beyond excited to see them writing a new series together. I bought them all as they came out, but have only now gotten around to reading them. I was disappointed in the first book, but I was still hopeful it could be turned around. But this book was frustrating. The aunts/ goddesses are ridiculous. They know everything but are vague and disappear constantly because...??? And the fact that everyone knew immediately that Wiley was Baers soulmate but kept it to themselves because "Baer would have stuffed it up" makes no sense. Why wait until the last possible second to reveal it? It's not like the world is at stake... oh, wait.
Overall, I can't connect to any character. It's so repetitive. They meet a Weaver and go through the same back story. Go through the same disaster training. Continually put themselves in danger by leaving the protections for important things like "pumpkin flavoured donuts." It just feels phoned in. I'm not sure if I can be bothered continuing on with this series. Maybe the world deserves to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impulsivity and compulsivity
Absolutely love how this series is turning out! With the whole soul mates aspect to what is happening with the Weavers, it would be easy to fall into having an insta-love thing going on, with immediate relationships and all problems solved by that love. Instead these are stories of building love and relationships while fighting off the Pestilents with no perfect guarantee of immediate wins.
Baer and Wiley meet under unusual circumstances that sort of smack of interference and meddling, but the two don't seem to notice. Baer is positive Wiley is a Weaver and so brings him back to the estate which throws everything a bit off. When it becomes immediately clear that Wiley is not a brother but also needs to stick around, the two get to take the time to get to know each other and really build something together. It's sort of funny because from the outside, and to all the other Weavers, it seems obvious the two are soul mates. But since they don't see it themselves they really build something based on their own feelings and desires rather than an expectation of a perfect match.
More history is unearthed from previous Weavers and it is clear that there has been more going on than anyone realized. Between the centuries of history and the unusual circumstances of the very last group of Weavers, the ones who all died at once, it is clear that something changed last time and it could threaten them all again. The Pestilents are ramping up their attacks while concerns about history repeating leave the Weavers trying to forge a new way forward and even just stay alive through increasingly difficult circumstances. It promises to keep changing as more brothers are found and so look forward to seeing which way all of this goes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story!
This book is really good and an amazing addition to the series. The story is entertaining, both main characters are wonderful, so sweet and endearing but I specially fell in love with Baer and how he and Wiley got together. Their relationship is the best part of the book but of course, all the magical aspects in between all the danger, and intrigue and family were a plus. I recommend you to read this book as part of the series to fully enjoy Baer. Amazing reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic addition to the Weavers Circle series
Wild Warrior is book two of the Weavers Circle series and really should be read after Broken Warrior (Clay and Dane's story). I was a tiny bit nervous about reading Baer and Wiley's tale given how much I loved the first book...how could this possibly live up to the standard set in Broken Warrior? I needn't have worried - Wild Warrior is every bit as good!
Once again, we have the fantastic world-building where the pestilents are threatening the safety of our Weavers. This time, however, the menace is ramped up and the brothers face some real and scary challenges. The plot is pacy and the quality of writing superb - I love how the atmosphere changes when the tension is ramped up. I particularly enjoy the bond between the brothers as well. We can see in this book how close the three Weavers have become through their protectiveness for and relentless teasing of each other. We also meet a fourth member of the brotherhood.
Baer, the Animal Weaver, is still the source of humour (see the teasing from the brothers) that we saw in book one, but we get to see quite a bit of his growth from impulsive, risk-taking behaviour through more understanding of his power to him being a responsible warrior. He loves with his whole heart, too...his absolute acceptance of Wiley (and Queenie the cat) into their household and his desire to keep them is adorable. Wiley is super sweet, too. He's a self-proclaimed 'geek deluxe' who has dreamed his whole life of superheroes only to find himself in the middle of a supernatural battle. He's got his own internal battle on his hands, with a condition that has made relationships tricky in the past and makes him feel unworthy of Baer's affection. I like that this means (despite the pair's chemistry is off the charts) their friendship grows before they take their relationship to the next level. A special mention also has to be given to Ruby, Baer's dog... she's too cute!
Wild Warrior is full of action, humour, magic and romance. Fair warning, though, there's a cliffhanger and the scene is set for the Soul Weaver's story in book three. 5* for this installment and I really just need it to be autumn...bring on Grey's story!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wild Warrior
Another fantastic, wild ride with The Warriors. Baer & Wiley are so sweet together, but they really are needed in this group to keep life in perspective and to help keep life a little lighter. I’m definitely ready for the next story - Blind Warrior! With this title, does it mean Grey will be blind permanently?.... So much to look forward to reading. 😍📚❤️

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
I enjoyed this book much more than the first one. I thought there was more to the storyline, plus the characters were being given more depth . I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
