Review

DBP SUPERB! It's not very often that a book is exciting, thoughtful, and well written. My husband and I were constantly squabbling over whose turn it was for reading. Fortunately, hubby retires early, so I got it all to myself during the evening.

K. Jones Shouting "YES!" Another awesome book from JC Ryan! I enjoyed reading the first book in this new series, 'Nothing New Under The Sun' and am very glad he released the two books together as the first book is a cliff-hanger. This second book picks right up where the first book left off and continues a great story that transitions to awesome!

The characters remain strong and consistent as the story grows around them.Intrigue abounds, and as usual, JC delivers another gripping page turner that is next to impossible to set down. By the time I got to the end of the book, I wanted to jump up out of my chair, punch my fist in the air, and shout"YES!"

Carolyn Harrison Yes, more please. The Wolves of Freydis is a top quality suspense drama that had me guessing to the end. I went through so much at one point when something happened (no, I'm not saying what) that made me go into deep mourning.

I can only say that J C has done it again, pulled an amazing rabbit out of that adventurous mind he keeps kindled ready to give us yet more suspenseful reading and enjoyment.

This, I believe, is going to be a new series, so all I can say is 'bring it on'

Dave Solomon - Great characters, suspenseful. This is a very fascinating book, well written, great characters, suspenseful, thought provoking, stimulating; with some thought to the dangerous world we live in today.

Amazon Customer - One of his best books, so far. This second book in the Carter Devereux series is one of the best, if not the best,of all of JC Ryan's books I have read. Suspense starts building right at the beginning of the book. I like how he has weaved the wolves into the story.Excellent plot and story telling that kept me turning the pages right to the end. Excellent ending and a great read. I am hooked on this series and I hope the next book will be out soon.

First let me say what this is NOT. It is not an extension of the “Rossler” series even though one of the main characters is an archaeologist. It is action paced and tells a story that might be happening right now.
The main characters are involved with a secret government agency “A-Echelon” that is more secret than the CIA. They are tracing information hidden in ancient digs that may indicate that earliest ancestors might have had expertise in medicine and warfare that we are not aware of. This may remind Ryan fans of his previous books. The difference is that these searchers are US government driven. Because of this they have all sorts of backup when needed. Of course there are other “bad guys” searching. And there is also a mole in “A-Echelon”.
I like the characters in this new series. They are young, educated and rich. This makes an interesting mix.
There is a prequel, Nothing New Under the Sun that I read first. Knowing what I now know, I wish I had read this book first and then the prequel. You may want to know as much as you can about the characters first and might check this out. Warning it has the “granddaddy” of all cliffhangers.
The good news is you can start reading Wolves of Freydis immediately if you plan ahead.
This book meets all my wishes for a good book. It has a prologue that drags you in and doesn’t disappoint. It has clean dialogue that lets you paint your own word pictures. It can stand alone but hints at a future volume that you can choose to read.

J C Ryan is an incomparable author bringing us believable stories and wonderful mysteries rolled into one book that is guaranteed to keep you up way past what is healthy.

In this the second book of Carter Devereux Mysteries you will find him deep in plans to find and rescue his wife and son who were at one time thought dead.
His biggest problem was when he found them it was somewhere in the middle east and he was weak and recovering from a nearly successful attempt on his life.

The wolves are a wonderful bit of fantasy that supports both he and his wife.

You must not miss this wonderful series. Be entertained for hours and look forward to each succeeding book as I do!

I liked the story and it kept me reading till the end but must say I found the dialog between characters to be stilted and, compared to the Omega series, the writing a bit amateurish. I found a few places where words were in a sentence that didn’t make sense and had to substitute the correct word in my mind. All in all not to bad.

First read "Nothing New Under the Sun" so that you are familiar with the characters. You will grieve with Carter Devereaux over the cruel loss of his wife and son. You will disrepair with Mackensie through her months of captivity and being forced to continue her research for the enemy with constant threats of harm to her son. You will rejoice at James resolve to keep gathering information which finally leads him to the conclusion that Mackensie and Liam were abducted and not killed in the explosion. Things really begin to heat up when they begin to get their first clues on who is involved and it escalates quickly up to one of the highest offices in the U.S. Most of all, you will be thankful for the wolves of Freydis who came to Mackensie in her sleep and helped her through her disrepair and who constantly comforted Carter a d gave him the resolve to keep going. Also, the astounding Archelogical discoveries by Professor Devereaux continue to astound the world. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

First of all read this book after NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN.

These two books are the consummate archeological/historical/scientific experiences on the planet. I love reading Mr. Ryan on ebooks because there are so many fascinating side trails to look up and learn about along the way. He really makes the reader really actually enter into the experiences. The characters are well drawn and likeable and the background info itself is worth the read. The only thing I couldn't buy into is the wolf behavior....just too much of a stretch. Highly recommend both books as well as the entire Rossler series. More please.
