Wrapped Up in You : A Valentine's Day Short Story (Kindle Single) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 538 ratings

A short Valentine’s Day story by USA Today Bestselling Authors Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine

Christmas has always been Carter Pierce’s favorite holiday. But with his partner, Dr. Vaughn Bennett, working crazy hours in the ER, it’s difficult to make any kind of plans.

Easter was an appendectomy.
Thanksgiving, a ruptured spleen.
And Christmas had called Vaughn away to work for Doctors Without Borders.

So when the calendar hits February 14th, Carter expects it will be just another day when he kisses his man goodbye so he can go and save the world. Little does he know that Vaughn has a huge surprise up his sleeve—one that will change their lives forever.

About the Author

The minute she began her love affair with reading, Ella became an avid supporter of the romance genre and has never looked back.
Ella is Australian born and bred but currently resides in Houston, Texas with her husband.

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts.

I'm always on the lookout for stories that have a definite holiday setting, and those with "smaller holidays" such as Valentine's Day so when one crosses my path it finds it's place on my TBR list. I loved the way the authors made this Valentine's Day romance encompass both V-Day and Christmas. Fun, clever, heartfelt, and delightful.

My uncle moved away when I was little and was rarely here for Christmas but I remember one year when they planned to come but couldn't so my grandmother put the tree back up in March when they were able to make it. It's not a scenario I've come across in my readings and for bringing back a family memory I want to thank the authors.

I applaud Vaughn wanting to do this for Carter knowing all the holidays the spent apart and to do it in such a wonderful way as to recall some of their most important memories. Just yummy.

This was another new-to-me author, I've read neither Ella Frank or Brooke Blaine individually nor have I read their collaborations. I can honestly say that Wrapped Up in You has left me hungry for more and I know I will be checking out their backlists(both individually and together) in the future.

This is sweet and utterly romantic and while short was a perfect Valentine’s Day story.

While I loved these characters and their magical day, I personally had a hard time connecting with them and wish I had gotten a few more flashbacks of their early relationship moments. It is hard for me to connect to an established couple, especially in such few pages. Too bad for me. :(

In addition to the story, you are also given the first chapters of both Brooke and Ella’s upcoming books…and I have to say, while I am eager to read Robbie’s book, the snippet we get of Ollie and Reid totally did it for me. I am so eager to read more of these men, who immediately grabbed hold of me.

Cannot wait for February and March to arrive!

I CANNOT wait for Carter and Vaughn’s story to come to life on the small screen. As each scene unfolded, especially when some of the couple of three years’ backstory is provided, I imagined how it would play out in real life and how the screenwriter and the director would make every passionate, heartwarming, and swoon worthy moment into the vision Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine envisioned when they created this sweet short story about a couple who epitomize what a loving relationship is and why finding one’s soul mate is the best feeling in the world.

I didn’t want Carter and Vaughn’s novella to end because every time Carter took readers back in time to his and Vaughn’s first encounter, their non-date movie experience and a few other absolutley precious and heartfelt moments, the development of their love story is so genuine and so easily illustrates that love is love regardless of the gender of the two people who have found something in each other that they’ll cherish for the rest of their lives.

Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine continue to be a writing powerhouse in the M/M genre; I adore both writers and I can’t wait to read what Ella has in store for Robbie and meet Brooke’s new couple who is bound to both tear apart and heal my heart and they do it to theirs as well.

Read in about half an hour or so, let me give you four words to set up this book: Christmas on Valentine's Day. I'm a fan of the former, not so much the latter, but hey, that's why I'm a cynical romantic. We have main characters Carter Pierce and Vaughn Bennett--a teacher and a doctor, respectively--who are in their third year as a couple. They both lead very busy lives, so the time that they're able to spend together is all about quality and making up for whatever's been missed. Like me, Christmas is Carter's favorite holiday, one that Vaughn missed celebrating with Carter the year before, but Vaughn is about to make Valentine's Day one that neither of them will ever forget.

Le sigh. These two were too freakin' cute and their story totally left me with a huge-ass grin on my face and a happy feeling in my heart. Who can resist a romance with Little Miss Whoops adhesive plasters, Daniel Day-Lewis, and a Christmas tree and two men wholly in love with and committed to one another in their plaid jammies? I'm excited to see how Frank and Blaine's short story will translate on film, and I've got my fingers and toes crossed that by the time cameras are rolling, Passionflix will be available in my neck of the woods. For now, I'm more than happy to bask in the absolute adorableness of Vaughn, Carter, and Wrapped Up in You, which easily gets five stars. ♥

Cute little story. However, it was very disappointing that the last 40% of the pages were a sample of a different story. I feel a bit ripped off that I paid for about 25 minutes of reading.

    ***5 ‘Oh The Swoons’ Stars***

I mean seriously, I felt like Bugs Bunny when is iris’s would become heart shaped and he became a drooling mess over his latest paramour while reading this and this is just a simple short story...a slice of life if you will, but the authors seriously came through with all the swoony goodness!

Vaughn And Carter are soooo good together, I just want to cuddle up with both of them. And that feeling just grew stronger as the story progressed and we get to see them together and how they fell in love.

And then there are those two teasers at the end...not cool ladies. NOT. COOL. I want those books...like yesterday...but they will be here soon enough and then I can bask in the all of that goodness too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Une jolie nouvelle de St Valentin !
Reviewed in France on January 25, 2018

Omg, Ella and Brooke have excelled yet again. I’ve never read a bad book from them and I totally wasn’t disappointed 5⭐️+

Vaughn and Carter just melted my heart. This simple love story was written beautifully, I was gripped in their lives straight away and it left me wanting more.

Vaughn is an ER doctor who works long hours and misses most holidays with his man, Carter, but this Valentine’s Day he decides it’s not happening and brings Carter’s favourite holiday, Christmas, to him.
He spoils him with presents that remind him of different past times in their 3 years together, it had me tearing up on more than one occasion.

A must read for all hopeless romantics, I can’t wait to see this on the big screen brought to us by Passionflix us next year 💙💙

A short story with an established couple celebrating a belated Xmas in Valentine’s day.

Vaughn tried to make up to Carter since they couldn’t be together in Carter’s favorite holiday and showed him he still cared, even after dating several years.

To me it was kinda fun to see how they did meet and eventually fall in love. It’s the little things that make everything special, if you ask me. Also this was a quick read for Valentine’s day!

Brooke and Ella always make me wish for more of their books!
