What factor plays the biggest role in selling books...?
It would be natural to say technology plays the biggest role in selling books. But Rob Eagar answers this question right from the beginning: "Language drives the book sales, not the technology. There is nothing more persuasive at selling books than the words that people see." Eagar emphasizes the importance of the book having a hook and it's most effective if it accomplishes one important thing. And noooo .... I'm not going to tell you - you must read the book to figure that out! Rob Eagar's book: "Write Text That Sells Books" will help the author who just hates writing marketing copy. Eagar shares how to use persuasive marketing copy to make book descriptions "pop". What do many authors wish they had or want more of? Endorsements from influencers! He'll share with you how to reach to realistic candidates, what to say and what to do if an influencer turns you down and much more. This book will give you the tools to use the "power of persuasive words" effectively!

      Is it technology or language?

Language drives the book sale, not technology, Rob says. It is a misconception to think that technology alone is what sells books.

As a marketing copywriter, I know there is value in writing persuasively. Readers decide to purchase based upon the word of mouth they hear, the customer reviews they see, and the marketing copy they read. Technology is merely the vehicle, albeit a fast and efficient one that delivers the message of your book.

If you’re an author who desires to learn how to craft persuasive marketing copy for your book, this is an excellent book to give you all the secrets you’ll need. It's written specifically for authors, by an author who has experienced what works and what doesn't.

Rob has worked with more than 450 authors of both fiction and non-fiction books, and he knows what helps an author to move his or her book.

I was given an advanced reader copy of the book, but also bought a copy for my own benefit.
This book compliments 2 other books in the Author’s Guides series; the Author's Guide to Email Marketing, and The Author's GuIde to Marketing Books on Amazon. Consider buying the trio, especially If your goal in 2019 is to author and publish your first or next book.

I'm still in the process of reading this one, but what I'm seeing is the same thing I've found with all of the Rob Eagar books I've read. They are packed with great tips and insight that you're just not going to find on blogs, websites, or even by talking to other authors. No one studies book marketing the way this guy does. He does a lot of research and analysis and gives a lot of examples to back up the principles he teaches. I also like that he doesn't just stop with giving principles. He actually lays out all kinds of step by step instructions and practical tips for how to implement those principles. You can tell when someone has spent hours and days and months and years working through and developing their teachings and strategies. That definitely comes through in this book. I am sitting here trying to think of a criticism or drawback to this book and series, but I honestly can't think of any. Okay, here's one. I would love it if the author had spent some time discussing chapter titles and had given examples of those the way he did with titles because I think it's one of the things people look at before they buy a book. That being said, I think you could probably apply a lot of his principles when choosing and building out your chapter titles. He just doesn't go into them specifically, at least not that I've seen so far. Overall, I would say that authors can't go wrong by reading and following the advice in this book. There's no advice in it that I would say is bad or faulty. Not all of the advice applies to every author (e.g. he gives advice specific to fiction and non-fiction authors, giving them equal time and treatment), but it's all good, solid advice. And even though I don't write or publish fiction (at least not so far), I still feel like I get good insight by reading the advice to fiction authors. That's all I've got for now. I may update with more commentary after I finish the book.

I was introduced to Rob's books by a friend and first started with a free book to see whether I could understand his writing. Often books contain too much jargon that goes way over my head but this was not the case with Rob. With his easy-to-understand style and clear examples, I absolutely loved his first book and more so this one. My brain is going haywire with ideas and before finishing the book, I got stuck into book hooks, value statements and back copy for my books. I am that author who knows absolutely nothing about marketing but now a whole new world has opened up to me. I cannot wait for this next leg of my journey. Thank you Rob. The wisdom you have added to my writing world is invaluable.

The instructive advice Rob gives in this book is a good resource for authors of any genre. I’m a poetry author. I published my poetry books through Amazon KDP a few years ago and knew nothing about writing a good description, nor about the importance of a good book hook for my books. Am in the process of updating my books and needed advice in quite a few areas of marketing them. Although Rob does seem to cater towards nonfiction and fiction writers, the instructive advice he gives in writing better text in this book definitely helped me, even thou my genre is poetry. He certainly knows the importance of writing text that sells and gives great advice in that area of marketing. His book can help any author in writing better text.
