Xander (Royal Protectors Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 373 ratings

I'll protect her. No matter the cost.

I'm a Royal Protector. An official bodyguard to the royal family of Limaj. I work with the best of the best and I'm at the top of my field, but I may not survive my next assignment.

She's a princess in every sense of the word.

She's also fiery, stubborn and absolutely hates my guts.

Fine, it's easier this way.

Until it isn't.

Because there's a thin line between love and hate... and we can't help but blur it.

Now everything is complicated, including the return of an old enemy. I'm willing to burn down the whole country to eliminate the danger and save the princess.
My princess.

The question is, can I do it in time?

USA Today Bestselling author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she's called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She's never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she'd probably choose the west coast.

Kat's a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she's not writing, she's either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) - traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach.

As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There's something enticing about hockey players and romance...

This book was really good. Kind of reminds me of the equivalent of the Secret Service. The book opens with a bang. Elen is a princess that is so sick of her people and their random safety drills. She gets it but, enough already. Xander is the hotty assigned to protect her at all cost. This is where the party starts.

I don't know where the anger and hatred came from but it was there. I love how their story evolved.
I teared up a few times. Elen loved the children so that is always a plus in my book. This is a new author to me so i was a pleasant surprise. I love when a new author to me gives me a winning read.

Oh I do enjoy a Princess with their bodyguard story. This one has a unique twist of a former royal family retaking leadership of their country. It is clear there are some prior stories and this is the next one. I really really liked the bodyguard. I didn’t like the Princess until the Tahiti segment. The kidnapping was well written drama leading up to the conclusion which also hinted at the next story. Ah to a world that has lots of small countries with internal conflicts.

Good book with action, romance, spicy scenes, and a HEA. At first, it took me a while to like it, but as it progressed, it got better. Also, it took me a while to like Princess Elen, but then I reilly liked her character. I didn't fall in live with Xander immediately, but he was a bit more likable than Elen.
In the end, I really enjoyed the book and fell in love with the characters.

Wow, just wow! This book was the epitome of a roller coaster ride. Xander and Elan started out at odds. Being her bodyguard was difficult since she fought him at every turn. Their attraction grew and love blossomed. Their trip to Tahiti consummated their relationship. The turmoil from their country kept them in terror and Xander protecting her. There were twists and turns, ups and downs, and finally happily ever after. I have fallen in love with each and everyone of these characters, and how they come to life on the page. They feel like family. Can’t wait to see what’s next in the series!

Kat Mizera masterfully began building tension between Xander and Elen prior to this book, and this fan had to read it in one sitting as soon as it appeared on her Kindle! And then I was sad it was over. There was never any doubt these two were meant for each other, and the way she brings them together and brings them around to the idea of how it could work is just so wonderful! Truly, this book Brings together all of my favorite things: bodyguard, frenemies to lovers, forbidden love, royalty/commoner, close proximity, vacation romance, etc. I also LOVED the new cast additions in Tahiti, and am thrilled that they will be making a return in future stories! This book truly has it all, friends!

I love the Royal Protectors so far. I wasn’t sure how I would like it since Elen was hard to get a good read in the past but seeing her perspective fully developed, I realized she’s a lot like me: will lash out and be sarcastic when stressed but extremely caring. Xander has always been great. Love the new characters added and can’t wait for more appearances of Samaria, her family and Peter.

I know how difficult it can be for someone reading a sequel book when they didn't read the previous book. But all the details that were written trying to catch me up did exactly the opposite; I was thoroughly confused and almost stopped reading it at all. Then I told myself it didn't matter if I knew who was related to who or what had happened in the previous story. Once I did that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book!

This book was so much fun to read. The two main characters have been building so much chemistry and friendship for the last couple of books so it was fun to read their story.

    No plot spoilers

There are no grammatical or editorial errors that I can recall, the issue of Omar's resurrection is addressed but it's sloppy and not really in line with the authors writing abilities, a bit of a cop out to be honest.
Nevertheless, the characterisation is good, the storyline is straightforward, and the backstory remained the same as the first book in this series.
I found the male lead a bit of a wimp, the female lead was so irritating I wanted to slap her numerous times.
Despite that, the book works if all you are looking for is a romance with a hint of danger, set in the world of billionaire royalty (yeah, it's a genre, who knew) the book is written well enough to take you away from everyday life for a little while.
Which is why I have rated it as five stars, because it delivers what it promised.
I will be purchasing the next book in this series.
