A Friendly Wager Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

When friends become lovers, is their relationship screwed?

When I told my friend Will that I was done with dating, he looked at me like I’d decided to give up oxygen.

I’m not the first college princess to swear off kissing frogs, and just because we have a biology lab together doesn’t mean that he’s an expert on the birds and the bees, except… he’s given me a challenge—a friendly wager, so to speak, and a thousand bucks is on the line.

All I have to do is prove that he doesn’t affect me. Ha! Easy money, right?

Only I didn’t count on what it costs me to resist his panty-dropping smirk, dirty promises, and the way he gets inside my head. Giving up oxygen might have been easier, after all.

We’re both playing to win, but at what cost?

A Friendly Wager was first published in 2016 as Once Should Be Enough. It is a steamy, sometimes awkward AF, romantic comedy standalone novel about talking dirty and getting over your own hangups. And it's hot. Don't say I didn't warn you!

The story of friends Will & Cassie is a sweet story (but yes, as the author says, it has plenty of heat) where they find themselves in love without even really realizing it! One evening at dinner, Cass blurts out that she thinks she’s frigid because she doesn’t like sex. She hasn’t “finished”, she said. Will then countered with a deal that he’ll pay Cass $1000 if he can give her an “o”. Otherwise, she can pay him $100 and get to say for as long as she wants, “I told you so!” The two of them are extremely sweet to each other, and it was a super cute and yummy story! I will keep it on my shelf for a reread now and again.

Cassie has not had the best of experiences with men so has decided to put that part of her life on hold however when she confides this information to her best friend Will it becomes a game changer. He is determined to show her that she has been dating the wrong man and that he can give her exactly what she needs. Let the games begin!

Heat and humor combine as two people test the boundaries of their friendship. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This college romance will touch your heart. When Cassie swears off men, her best friend makes a wager with her that he can show her that she has been with the wrong men and he can prove her wrong. What starts of as a wager turns into anything but. Will she win the wager or find the love she's been missing? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I like this author's writing style. I also love a good friends to lovers tale. But, I just could not relate to these characters and their insecurities and angst. I think this book is geared toward a college aged reader. And I (a 40 year old, married, mother of three) could not relate.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Will and Cassie are friends, and have never crossed the line towards anything romantic or steamy, but that is all about to change. Cassie has just informed Will that she has given up on dating, after having a very unfulfilling relationship. He can't stand to see her give up so easily and has the perfect plan to change her mind. He issues her a bet of sorts... one that involves a lot of wooing, sexy smirks, smoldering passion, and heated glances.

A Friendly Wager is a sexy little page-turner that does not disappoint... it's steamy words will have your blushing throughout. What started as an innocent little, strings-free bet, quickly becomes something else all together when unexpected feelings come into play. I loved watching these two test the limits of their friendship and try to avoid falling, their story kept me captivated from beginning to end. Once my eyes found the words, I just couldn't stop. If you like feel-good steamy romances you will love this one, it's addictive words and wonderful characters are certain to keep you entertained and swimming in swoons! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

A sweet friend to lover’s romance with two twenty-one-year old college students. Cassandra/Cassie and Will met as lab partners and developed a special m/f friendship. One day Cassie confesses an embarrassing secret. Now all bets are off and Will will not stop till he proves Cassie is wrong about her assumption. Cassie's character was interesting in that she had all these hang-ups, insecurities and preconceived ideas that kept her from living life to the fullest. I thought that what she was going through was very realistic for a young woman who is naive in the ways of the world. Luckily Will had no such problems. He was super confident, sexy as sin, handsome devil and was just the man to get the job done. What Will thought was an opportunity to help his friend turned into so, so much more. A very sweet story.

I dont normally go in for the college romances. I probably would have skipped this one but I really liked her other books. This was a truly amazing story line. I couldn't put it down.

Will is a pre-med student taking a class with Cassie who is really bad at biology. When their friendship ends up with her revealing she is just not into $ex, game on! Will makes it his mission to teach her all about it. And as she becomes more comfortable with it, she learns that she has quite a bit of power which just makes her hotter to him. As other guys start to realize Cassie is hot too, will can't keep in his boundary of friend. He tries to be a gentleman, but quirky Cassie just can't read the tea leaves.

This was one of the best ROMCOMs I've read in a while. Had me laughing out loud and gripping my kindle to see what happens next. Loved every single moment!

I am voluntarily leaving this review of an advanced readers copy of this book.

A friendly Wager by Nikky Kaye is about two best friends faking for one another.
I loved these characters banter, & the steam was off the charts!

Case &Will meet when they were assigned to each other to be lab partners.
&from then on out, they quickly became the best of friends.
But one day, while out, Caaba says to Will, “I think I hate sex”. & she remarks that she is probably too frigid to like it. Will doesn’t enjoy that she is talking about herself like that, so he offers up a bet. If he proves her wrong, and proves to her that she does not hate sex, and if she proves him wrong. He will be paying her a much larger sum of money.........
    Let the games begin!

A friendly wager was a good read! I love best friends to lover’s romances, and this was a perfect example of that.
I recommend that you start reading this BOOK ASAP!

5.0 out of 5 stars We could all use a friend like this

A sexy, fun read that really makes you think, what if? I'm sure we all have or have had that one person that we connect with but never thought of in that way until something is said or done to make you look at them differently. Of course maybe not all of us have a had the hot friend who offers to satisfy your every need to prove something, but that's beside the point. Loved the relationship from the beginning and was curious to see how they ended up knowing they would be perfect for each other. Sometimes a mistake can lead to a lot of fun and something unforgettably perfect. With a friend like this, who needs alcohol.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
